  1. I very much dislike it also, for all the previous posted reasons.
  2. For the life of me I don't understand why you would want to do this. It does not make sense. What do you hope to gain? (50 years of hard core IT including Resilient, Fault Tolerant servers.)
  3. GG personally I think you've gone bonkers. For the 30+ years I lived in Thailand, the maid or nannys(s) did - the washing, ironing, folding for all 5 of us, inc themselves. Including all the cleaning, cooking, shopping for darn near everything. wtf is wrong w/ you. Stop complaining.
  4. Seems another compelling reason to ditch WinBloze on new hardware. Guess run a Linux ver, and then a older ver of Win in a VM.
  5. Very good reply by DDave. I concur. Yes use www.invadeit.co.th, for an ASUS with a Ryzen-7, 16gb ram and 1TB SSD. I'll not go into what OS to use.
  6. There are multiple posts on both Corsair Forums and Reddit concerning this issue.
  7. GG you made a horrid choice for a case Consider it a lesson learned. IMO (not humble) Both USB or Ethernet are poor options, over using the Mobo SATA for multiple HDD's to a point. BUT how many SATA ports do you have on that Mobo? My thought is buy a new case or a used case locally. And consider using a full size tower instead of a mid-size, many benefits. Or use a old case you may already have. Yep, that means a lot of work. I have several old cases and all can accommodate 2 small HDD and 4 large HDD. I'll muse on this, may perhaps post with more options.
  8. I always use a 1 TB SSD for the boot. And some (most) progies insist on installing there. And I always use a high quality Samsung Pro for that. For me because of the NAND and writes issue. Longevity. Note I do not game, however WinBloze is very heavy on constant writes. Perhaps that is also why he does it. Hellfiknow.
  9. If those apps for trading have a Linux option perhaps that would work. I dunno, not a Linux expert or fanboy. But I am seriously considering to move over to that platform. I have ran the current ver 'Live', so much better than previous on this 12 yo 'puter. Much better than W10 or W11 IMO for my usage, yes I will upgrade HW soon to AMD not Intel.
  10. Wood Roach, Palmetto Roach; Cockroach Hotels, Bayer gel, Boric Acid (powder) mixed with fine sugar (NOT Borax). Done deal, keep it up for 6+ months. Works. The Boric Acid mix also good for ants, but some like sugar others protein (PNut Butter). Info on the web for ratios, is important!
  11. FWIW; Those 'old' SAMSUNG PRO SSD's are likely SLC 1-level NAND or 2-level NAND. They will have a very long 'write' and 'data retention' life compared to newer <deleted>e. Very worthy of items as mentioned. Not in any NAS application. I do suggest running the Sammy mgmnt desktop app to check firmware ver (upgrade if needed), and see it's usage prior to further usage. I also have several. My 1 baht view.
  12. Samsung Pro PCIE M.2 (or SATA) 1~2TB for the OS + apps (that force install on C:\) and 1, 2 or 3 Seagate Ironwolf Pro NAS 8TB (or so) 7200 RPM HDD's on SATA. Yes, I've noted the price increases lately. Yes it is likely due to large scale AI models. No, one cannot get the same $ per MB storage using SSD yet.
  13. GG, what a hoot!, No, you are not a genius. If you were you would be very rich and you would not be in Thailand. So many other places to live under that consideration.💲💲💲
  14. I will clearly state this: Clone old computer SSD with windows onto a new SSD "for the old computer" will boot usually. Clone old computer with windows onto this new computer will FAIL to boot. Clone old computer with Linux onto this new computer will FAIL to boot. It will require a full OS install on this new computer. Then (windows) drivers, service packs, updates, etc,,, At his point IMAGE IT before moving forward. Then configuration (tweak how you like it). And applications (some may need keys too). Yes, perhaps Linux is the best way to go. Linux fully supports the Intel Thread Director for those hybrid cores. Later, do windows in a VM. You are in for a lot of work. Best of luck Blessings at the end of Passover and into Easter.
