  1. I have a child's orphanage that I donate to regularly. If I were confident that taxes paid would improve public education or better the lives of the less fortunate Thai people, I wouldn't mind. However, cynical me believes a majority of my Thai taxes would go toward Government officials and military elite growing wealth. In addition, if my taxes paid would give me permanent residence and a vote, then ok.
  2. But I have no desire to buy Thai government officials a steak dinner.
  3. That is in addition to 700 THB passenger service charge alongside other taxes and fees. I don't mind paying the additional 300 THB IF it were to make a positive impact rather than be a corrupted source of revenue. I am skeptical.
  4. News reports that Norse Atlantic will begin 787 service nonstop between Bangkok to London Gatwick with one way fares starting at £295 with roundtrip as low as £407. (No free checked luggage).

  5. A 30 year old Filipina wanting to live in Thailand should find employment and stay on a Non B
  6. I suppose if they wanted to include your ilk they could have included some white hoods and capes.
  7. That was your individual bank's policy, now it is turning into a U.S. government regulation.
  8. The world is very mobile. Every country has citizens whose families migrated into the country. Your simple view of the world is obsolete.
  9. Would limes work also ?
  10. Children are in more danger from Paedophile Religious leaders than having 2 mothers/fathers.
  11. I think an important aspect to realize that while foreigners from the West enjoy a higher standard of living, the Thai people experience a very different reality. Public education is inadequate and limits the earning potential of Thais, the corruption we find bothersome can be major obstacles for locals. The wealth gap between the rich and poor in Thailand is one of the largest in any country worldwide. Thailand has much to offer for an expat on a foreign pension or remote salary, but it is a daily struggle for a large percent of the Thai people.
  12. I think UK women celebrate when their less than attractive, beer drinking men left for overseas destinations.
  13. The biggest bloat on welfare are oil companies, defense contractors and healhcare companies
  14. And in 2025, once the sugar cane is harvested, you will have a front row seat to 200 acres burning. Fun.
  15. While I agree that the Western world is facing major problems, don't leave out the turmoil in SE Asia; the civil war in Myanmar, rampant corruption at every level of government, poverty and the widening gap between the rich and poor, lagging human rights, continued pollution threatening health. I am not optimistic for 2025
  16. The U.S. had control for 86 years. Panama was given control in 1999. You cannot seriously think that after 25 years the U.S. should seize control. If you believe this, the the UK should seize control of the 13 colonies and Mexico should seize control of the Southwest U.S. Russia should seize Alaska and the French reclaim Louisiana. President Musk surely does not allow this
  17. That is helpful, but you cannot stay inside all day. Eventually, you will experience the pollution.
  18. A loving home for every orphan is better than living in an orphanage especially a Catholic orphanage.
  19. Not to hijack the information in this post, but I would be very interested to know if a person was injured like this and they had entered and paid the future THB 300 entry tax, how much would that fund pay for medical costs ?
  20. So many hate posts; live and let live. Focus on your own lives and not obsess about others.
  21. I am sure they will reserve your seat.
