  1. I read this story in the Thai language' Daily News' yesterday and noted the absence of any mention that the victim was leaching large amounts of money from the offender. Almost makering her look like a stand up model citizen. Selective reporting I guess.

And you know the victim was leaching large amounts of money from the offender, how? That he paid off her gambling debt of Bht 100,000? This is large? Eur 2,500?

To most people, 100,000 baht isn't chump change. Especially in Thailand where most Thai's average about 60,000 baht a year.

Yet, the murder had absolutely nothing to do with this man voluntarily helping a girlfriend out financially. Murders happen all the time involving spouses where one mate supports the other and gives gifts to the tune of much more than 100k baht. Some murders are about money but this one wasn't ... unless somebody wants to hint at this women deserving to die. Kind of what sick minds do when a women is raped .. talk about all the women she slept with before as if this either justifies her being raped or that anyone should care too much that she was raped.

Only if you say so. whistling.gif

"Selective reporting" huh? So I guess the Thai language news left out a mitigating circumstance.

    Correct. clap2.gif

  3. I would just offer as an anecdote that when the 'rebels' captured Homs the first thing they did was expel the entire Christian population confiscating all their belongings.

    http://www.globalres...xt=va&aid=29842

Have a look at the link and bear in mind that the Wahhabi brigade expelling the Christians are of the same ideology as the Saudis and Qataris who have joined western forces for 'military exercises' in Jordan.

Intervention in Syria will not stop the suffering but just result in persecution on a sectarian basis by the most populous against the minorities. Such as the concept of democracy exists in the middle east this is how it manifests itself. It is also worth noting that Assad although he is vile is also a secular tyrant, which is a much easier task to control than anarchy or religious fundamentalism.

Thanks for the Link Dan ,this puts a whole different slant on the situation ,I just hope that those who are bent on the deposing of Assad are fully aware of all the real facts as to just what he will be replaced with.

    Right on !

  4. Coma , as in my post#6 to Essexyman your thoughts and concerns are not without foundation and are more or less in tandem with mine ,but what a state of affairs when a Country has to be ruled by an Iron fisted Dictator ,not much hope is there? Radical Islam or a dictatorship!.

I agree. But Arabs are a very highly strung race. You said it yourself "mainly born out by the rabid crowd screaming out at every given opportunity Allah Akhbar". It is indeed a sad state of affairs but we are seeing the alternative unfold before us. Death and destruction by persons unknown.

  5. Now the western knockers may start to come around to the fact that Mr Assad is right. His country is under attack from foriegn terrorist. These element just migrate from Iraq to Libya, Libya to Syria. Dark times ahead for Syria me thinks. Dark times indeed. Starting to look more like Fallujah 2004.

I do hope you are not including me in your "western knockers" accusations, I ask a simple question , and of course I have reservations on the outcome , mainly born out by the rabid crowd screaming out at every given opportunity Allah Akhbar !!,maybe life means nothing to them just so long as they achieve their goal as another hard line Islamic Country , given that I am not saying that Assad,s hand,s are clean no more than I would say Gadhifi's hands was ,whats the Answer?, you tell me.

No Colin. You are exempt. The answer.IMO. Stop all the covert support for the opposition.Even though they are not responsible for this attack they have created an environment that terrorist groups thrive in. It is called lawlessness.

Most people from non Arab backgrounds seem to have trouble getting thier heads around the fact that many of these Middle Eastern countries need to be ruled with an iron fist.

    <deleted> !!!

And that would be good reason to knife the girl 17 times, I guess. Even if it was written somewhere which I haven't found--us poor farangs are such victims here, eh?

I always find it amazing to hear the 'Girlfriend leeches cash' from the farang.... Remember, those who give the money to the girls/girlfriends etc do so voluntarily nobody forces them, yet its always the girls fault and the farang the victim.

Its more a case of the farang thinking with his trouser brain rather than his actual brain and looks for someone else to blame for his stupidity when he realises he's given all is cash away.

    Amen.

When momma said, "Don't lose your meal ticket," she should have added, "And by all means don't become one."

What is equally amazing is how a man would think giving money to a woman here could end well.

It is a sign of generosity in some quarters, not many, but here it is a sign of weakness and foolheartedness.

    It is instanct disrespect.

When a woman in this part of the world sees you as generous on come the afterburners.

Her mindset is that somebody is going to get this fool's money sooner rather than later so might as well be me.

Absolutely. It is plain simple greed.

Selective reporting indeed. Selective for the English language newspaper to include the details of monies given to the Thai GF. Hardly relevant to the murder. I guess that was included in the Pattaya News because the thought of a Thai GF ripping off farangs is what gets ex pats reading newspapers in Pattaya.

Did you even look at the Pattaya daily news article ?

Its in the last quater of the story reported, in same size font as the rest of the story.

The headline states in bold and bigger fonts, that they caught this guy.

Nothing selective about reporting full facts.

Selective is if you omit facts.. I.e. Thai language news sources.

No. Because I am not a Pattaya bandit. I was saying what I read in a THAI language news paper YESTERDAY.

Don't brand me in the " us poor farangs are such victims " bracket.

  10. As for the young lady, this is Thailand, and it is a Buddhist country. She could have built up negative karma and her demise is the consequences of her past deeds.

Are you trying to say she deserved to be the victim of this heinous crime because of previous (mis)deeds?

    shock1.gif

I think it had more to do with her ongoing deeds than anything elses. It was obviously just time for her to " Pay the piper " .
