Problem is the cost of feed/pellets. In barrels you will need to do constant water changes as well. When the water gets dirty (3 or 4 days) they eat less so grow slower. We gave up and now only do pla nin (tilapia) in small concrete pond and tanks (3 x 2 mt) with pumps and filters etc. We dont make any money with power/feed costs but it puts fish on the table once a week and some for friends etc. I think you have to go big to make any money.

Many moons ago I was involved in the West Australian crayfishing (lobster) industry and it was not uncommon that guys were seriously hurt or killed attending to engine problems. Below decks is a very confined area with belts and pulleys running everywhere to drive things such as winches and bilge pumps etc. The usual cause was loose flapping wet weather gear or aprons getting caught up somewhere and the victim pulled in. And ,as someone else mentioned earlier, it is often difficult to find a fault with the engine turned off.

One day my Thai coordinator approached me and asked me to edit a speech she had prepared for an upcoming Parents Day at school, which I did. Two weeks later she approached me again with the same speech and asked me would I be the MC and present it on the day. As she handed it back she looked at me sheepishly and told me to check it again. When I read it this time it was all wrong again....a veritable dogs dinner?? She then informed me that the school director, who could barely pronounce "good morning", had also read it, said I was wrong, and rewrote it herself!! And I am a native speaker!

1 hour ago, smotherb said:Jealousy now is it? Yeah, you bet, I am jealous of someone who has so little money that they have to beg rides. If you call that freedom, you have no idea of the word.
I traveled around the US and Canada at 18. I had worked since I was ten--cutting grass, folding clothes at a laundry, working in a carnival, even drove a school bus at 17. So I bought an old car and with two buddies we traveled and paid our way. When we ran out of money, we worked--washed cars, washed dishes, did odd jobs, even fought forest fires. We didn't ask anybody for anything, except a job. Then I went to college full-time and worked full-time to pay for it; didn't ask for anything I didn't work for. At 22, I traveled the world--airfare, hotels, ground transport, housing paid for by the company, because I worked for it. Sorry, if I don't admire what you did. You say they were more than happy to help you, eh? Or did they feel sorry for you?
I want to do what I want to do when I want to do it. I've found I can do that, if it isn't illegal, and all I have to do is work for it. I have no respect for anyone who doesn't. That is my opinion.
As I said, I don't blame Thailand, or any country, for not wanting foreigners who do not have the funds the government deems necessary. It is their country.
You seem to be completely missing the point every time? Have you been reading the other posts on here to get an idea of what most other people are saying. Its not because they dont have money that most hitch-hike (or used to). I repeat what I and others have already said many times and I will try to keep it simple. People hitch-hike:
1. for the adventure and freedom,
2. in order to meet other interesting people,
3. with the knowledge that the more they save the more places they can see or things they can do/buy.
And how do you know these people havnt worked for years to get to another country? Ok some people work to have a holiday in another country but stay in a flash hotel and travel by taxi etc but they dont see the real people. Others, like hitch-hikers/backpackers also work to go for a holiday but they travel the back streets and meet the real people and manage to see 3 countries AND the real people/culture etc.

Oh now I see...its jealousy. You seem to not like the idea of having to work when someone else isnt. And maybe you didnt have the intestinal fortitude when you were younger to venture out into the world like these guys.
I have hitchhiked all around Australia, Southern Africa, New Zealand, Europe etc when I was younger and it certainly was not because I didnt have the money nor ever wished for someone else to pay my way. I worked on the premise that the more money I saved by hitch-hiking the more places I could see. When I could find work I would work....from farm work to bar tending, and then back on the road. Hitch-hiking is also the purest form of travel because you are really meeting the true locals who were often very willing to pick me up for some company on their long lonesome drive. I never asked for any money from anybody, I just took up an empty seat in a car going my way. I certainly was not ever called a bum, derelick, tramp or smelly. Most people admired what I was doing and thus were more than happy to help me on my way.

Then for my lovely Thai wife to join me you have to pay way over $6,000 for a non refundable application for visa.
$6,000? Is this correct or do you mean 6,000 baht?

I used Dulux Easycare inside and Dulux Weathershield outside (along with their appropriate primers) 5 years ago and am very very pleased. Unless you are really on a tight budget or there are other constraints I would definitely apply two coats.
A few words of warning. I used several building teams because I built my place in stages ie house, boundary walls, workshop etc. I needed to watch them like a hawk all the time because :
1. Mixing. They always grabbed a piece of bamboo or broomstick (round profile) to mix because it is easier even though I had given them a couple of WIDE paddles to stir. One guy insisted on using his hands up to his elbow if I wasnt watching!
2. Thinning. I had to watch them closely as they will always try to add more water because its easier to apply and dont seem to comprehend that thinner coats equal poorer finish and durability.
3. Applying. No-one amongst the 3 different teams I used for different stages wanted to, nor knew how to use a roller tray. They would dip the rollers into the paint pail instead!
4. Mixing up the paint containers. Because of their roller dipping method they would decanter the paint from the too deep big containers into smaller paint pails. I was using three different white paints: Weathershield for exterior, Supercote for ceilings and an undercoat for the ceiling....all white. At the end of the day all the leftover paint was in wrong containers and almost impossible to differentiate!!
5. Cutting-in. To avoid mess from dripping I had them paint the white ceilings first. After when they started painting the grey walls I soon learnt they could not successfully cut in between the walls and ceilings (no cornices). It was a veritable dogs dinner. I had to go out and buy more wall paint so they could paint the ceilings the same colour!
Be warned!

Have you by any chance been driving around with your window down and your elbow stuck out the window? There is a member on here I am sure would like to talk to you.?

Who really gives a rat's butt whether foreigners or anyone else drive around whether windows up or down?
When I grew up in Australia, air conditioning in cars was extremely rare so in the summer months everyone would drive around with their windows down to keep cool rather than to "be kool"
It only became law in the late 70's that hanging your elbow out the window became illegal because by that time 99% of cars on the road were fitted with electric indicator signals to let other drivers know your intentions.
Before that, everyone had to use hand signals so it was far more convenient to have the window down rather that have to wind it down each time you wanted to navigate to a new route.
They even had "window visas" which fitted on to the front door window frame so you could still drive with the window down in the rain without getting your right side wet which also offered some protection to your arm if you had it hanging out because it made the vehicle slightly wider so less chance of another driver misjudging and side swiping your car.
So if you can view the local scenery better and want to drive around with your driver's side window open, it's not going to turn my head in amazement or condemnation. And what about those little "flippers" that popped out the side of the car or yellow hands on trucks that indicated you were turning or stopping.

Well I quickly looked into this and its unclear whether the stamp would cause a ban or just the hassle of questioning.
In any case there is a prevention. You may ask Israel to stamp you in on a separate paper if planning on travel to Malaysia or some other Middle Eastern nations.

Yes it used to be the situation many years ago and was quite common for travelers to ask for a loose leaf visa. Today I couldnt say for sure but imagine highly likely still so.

I asked if he did drugs! Can anyone provide a link where it proves he use drugs?
People who are Bipolar, can act like they are on drugs, but they are not! How hard can it be for TV members to understand he struggle with Bipolarity, and understand what it means to be bipolar?
Many famous big thinkers, musicians, artists, writers have struggled with bipolarity, and many ended their life by suicide! Others abused drugs and so on. But as far I know, Elon do not drink or do drugs.
Ambien is a drug. Please see https://www.drugs.com/ambien.html
In the link I provided previously he states that he takes ambien and drinks alcohol in order to sleep.
I dont believe it can be any clearer than that.

If you take a brilliant mind and let it work on full speed over years with no proper rest nor recovery, add different psychosis as a result of that and top it with different drugs then its performance is simply no longer brilliant - the functionality and especially the predictability may even be far less than average..
