    Thailand’s roads remain  some of the deadliest in the world.

    I think that statement would be more honestly written if it read:

    Thailand’s roads drivers remain  some of the deadliest in the world.

    However I believe the Thai govt has now come up with a solution to the problem because the previous measures of registering as road deaths only those that die at the scene of the accident (not in hospital afterwards) is not in fact working.  So from now on road deaths will only be reported if:

    1.  They actually died at the scene of the accident;

    2.  They died wearing something blue;

    3  They died between Monday to Thursday.

  2. News Update:

    Latest news is that all migratory whales this morning have suddenly changed course away from Patong and the tide is now refusing to come in.  In other news it has been leaked that the Thai govt has contracted Lisa Appleton to expose herself daily to the press as their secret weapon to eradicate AIDS by 2029.  Stand by for any further updates.

  3. We moved a few years ago from outskirts of Bangkok (Minburi) to the outback of Kalasin.  We got some quotes from professional movers and they were exorbitant.  What we finally used was one of the local trucks that you sometimes see parked up on the side of major roads with signs and telephone numbers on them.  We found lots on Ramkhamhang Rd)  Thais call them "rot hok lore" (6 wheelers) and 'rot sip lore'  (10 wheelers).  We had loads of stuff from furniture to plants and ended up with 2 x 6 wheelers.  It cost us less than 10% of the professionals price.  Nothing was lost and nothing damaged.  However as they are almost like cattle trucks which they will tarp up, you need to pack everything very well.  We had a lot of furniture which we wrapped in bubble wrap and had no damage at all.  Only requirement they had was that somebody had to go with them in the truck to show them the way.  We paid the BIL to go with them.  We had no problems at all.

    I think it is stating the obvious, but the owners of the site will never see it that way. There is one thing that has come out of it and that it is click bait, assuming that you are prepared to wait for a response.

    Surprised your post hasnt been removed under Thai Visa article 44.

    Yes far too many adverts....even have to sieve thru them to get a news story in the "news"letter.

  5. They tried this before but very few people actually got paid for their snitching because you dont get it until after the offender has paid the fine.  So many Thais just ignore the fines and nobody seems to care.  Back home the police would come knocking on your door if you had unpaid fines.  I guess thats difficult here because there is no "working" police force.

  6. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my temple diagnosed, cut out and a biopsy done at Udon Thani Govt hospital a couple of years ago.  The cost was so little I cant even recall but less than 2 grand from memory.  The biopsy confirmed her diagnosis and the margin results came back clear.  Really good Chinese lady doctor, didnt get her name sorry but was told later she moved to Phuket.  After the results I asked if the hospital had a dermatologist who could check the rest of my body in case there were any more.

    They sent me upstairs to their specialist who I knew straight away was not so "special" after she told me I only needed to remove my shirt  to do a proper check.  She only looked at my back??!!  What really annoyed me was the fact she had a room full of medical students at the time who she was giving false information.  Very rare for Thais to suffer from skin cancer I'm told so its difficult to find a doctor with any experience in such matters.  Good luck.

    I would have thought that a straight drop from that height would have severed the head. Maybe he was lowered down, a difficult way to commit suicide ????  R.I.P.

    I thought the same but looking at the pictures his arm seems in an awkward position wrapped around the back of his head??  maybe his arm got tangled in the rope during the drop and lessened the impact on his neck.  Poor fellow, RIP

    What puzzles me is the need for the raincoat??

    You are wrong, never going to happen to you.... WHAT, stop the nonsense please.

    I was seriously wanting to kill myself after being told i would never walk again, only reason it didnt happen was at the time i was unable to even lift a hand, and could not even hold a glass or anything.

    Could happen to you tomorrow, think about that before spouting nasty comments about others.

    Best to just ignore this fellow colinneil.  Obviously has some very serious problems and thrives on negative attention.....so sad really.
