Well, truth may hurt, but ignorance hurts more.. But that's just me.
How can it hurt if you dont know and hopefully never will? And it was, after all, a few years ago. We all have something from our past that we regret and would rather kept hidden. She has more than taken care of him in every other way over many many years.

I have an old dear friend who has been married to a younger Thai lady here for more than 20 years. His wife has openly told my wife that she has had her Thai man on the side over the years although now a thing of the past. But at the same time it is plainly obvious that she cares immensely for my friend and waits on him hand and foot day and night. And he is extremely happy with her always singing her praise.
When I first heard of her playing up I was disturbed and wrestled with whether to tell him or not. However I came to the conclusion that my old friend may not have many years left in him and if he died next week, month or year, he would die a very very happy man not knowing. If I or someone was to tell him the truth, what would be accomplished?? Sometimes what you dont know dont hurt you.

Years ago, I found a nice little area to snorkle, NE corner of Ko Pang Gnan. While I was there, a small small fishing boat came along, dropped anchor on coral, and dropped a wide net. They were probably looking to catch the few remaining colorful fish - for eating or aquariums?
Also, while strolling along Thai beaches, I've seen lots of trash. Every meter, there's something. I've even seen discarded/broken bulbs from squid boats. One beach had a half billion chunks of broken bottles.
Tourist do some dumb stuff, but the lion's share of damage/pollution is done by locals.
It's what you don't see which is most insidious. Chemicals, pathogens and plastic goop are creating havoc in seas.
Careful you are not arrested for spoiling Thailands reputation!!.....You cant go around telling the truth, where do you think you are??

Perhaps the first step would be to restrain the ignorant indigenous tour operators from encouraging/selling activities which damage the environment?

Good. If your car really can't be left in neutral then drive around until you find a space that you can reverse into and doesn't block other cars.
Of course but isnt it amazing that you even have to explain the obvious??

There looks like some worried faces in that photo.

History has shown that prohibition doesnt work, it only increases the problem.

In theory yes, but being pragmatic, no. Don't want having to deal with the inevitable second-hand smoke, and we all know how considerate and self-justifying addicts are. In most condos you would be certain to stink up the corridors and neighboring apartments. Same in public areas where smoking is allowed. At least by keeping it illegal but not actively prosecuting it (most Western countries), you force dope heads to do it far out of other people's range.
What an exciting life you must live.....do you get strong urges when on hi rise balconies

I believe a lot of people are fooled into thinking that drugs prescribed by a doctor are relatively safe however more people die from prescription drugs than street drugs.
RIP Tom, you will be sorely missed but not forgotten thanks to your music.

Does this mean he wont be sending any more greedy, corrupt, missionaries to the Amazon?

If it was me, with my experience from working for one of a large chain of private bilingual schools for 10 years, I would lie. I cant speak for govt schools but my school would stop at nothing, and I mean nothing, to save a few baht.
I would be talking to the other teachers there but you say only one is long term. That would also raise questions for me too??

There used to be a farang run bar/eatery near where I lived when I was in Bangkok. It was frequented mainly by farang teachers. However when Thais came in unaccompanied by a farang they were shown a different menu showing prices 2 to 3 times higher than that on the wall. It was amazing to see the major uproars when people were told they had to pay more because they were Thai!!

Yeah but how can the headline say the "Hunt on for hi-so" and then state "no report of police action"???

While Singaporeans remain the least happy people in the world who in their right mind would want to copy anything that they have done? Anyway, they do have graffiti despite the risk of being spanked.
Gawwwd, there is always one to disagree. Go scrawl on somebodies wall, it may cheer you up

Always amazes me when you get a pair of idiots, not one alone. Do they have personal columns online etc where they advertise...
"Hi I am an idiot, 100% genuine idiot guy, 29 yo, seeking genuine female idiot, 20 to 30 yo, to have fun together doing really idiotic things. Non genuine idiots need not apply."
Give them the birch as they do in Singapore...no graffiti there.

Ronnasit said police and other state officials had to be more transparent in tackling human trafficking problems so they should not be involved in the illegal activities themselves because the international community closely monitored the situation in Thailand.
Interesting sentence. So only their reputation matters??

Absolutely dreadful to use this pathetic situation as a photo opportunity!
And they made up a placard to boast???....I would have quietly slipped the cheque under the door and run away. I know they are not the responsible party and its only a donation but to boast about it??? Surprised there are not 50 BIB in the pic pointing!!

Sure, truth should, in most cases, reign supreme. But in my mate's case, and many would agree if they knew all the circumstances, the truth would do more damage than good.
