  1. So no dictionary; one just writes the mispelled attempt & Google corrects it?
  2. Which dictionary do you use to spell Thai words transliterated into English? Serious question.
  3. It never says 'acting on good police work': because there never is any!
  4. Another statistic to add to RTP's laissez-faire attitude to speeding.
  5. He wants to be noticed.
  6. I go South towards Sattahip. Lots of huge pipes by the side of the road. Most will be used but the rest will moulder away.
  7. AKA non-existent. I see the Railway road is getting its annual make-over again.
  8. Many of the victims were at the camp because of poor parenting in the 1st place.
  9. This is to convert them into Look-at-Me bikes. It has a two-fold result; it gives poorer fuel consumption; it alerts any cop within two square kilometres. Unfortunately deafness is a prime quality to enter RTP.
  10. I am about to make my 3 times a year journey to Bangkok. During my time I have seen ONE police car actively working to dissuade lawbreakers. I have seen hundreds of police cars escorting VIP convoys at high speed. On every journey I observe scores of dangerous drivers, speeding & weaving from lane to lane; tail-gating. Thailand's appalling daily road kill is the direct result of ineffectual policing.
  11. Seemingly not well-known enough by the police.
  12. It's called humour or satire; often used to poke FUN at problems in an effort to improve things.
  13. There's a lovely series called 'No Body Wants This'; a rom-com with two sympathetic leads + a goodly number of well drawn support characters. I'm a sucker for Jewish humour anyway. There's a new take on Wokism. 'Women in Blue' is set in 1951 when there was no woke. It describes the 1st female police recruits and sets them in a chauvinistic workplace. (A further bonus for me is subtitles so I miss none of the dialogue.)
  14. Lots of doctors in hospitals with real diplomas which equate to a GCE 'C' grade in Biology held by many 16 year olds in UK.
  15. There's an exit on 2nd Rd but its imposing entrance is definitely on Tai.
  16. It also captures the million times road users break the law endangering themselves and others every day. Footage is ONLY consulted post-mortem! Speed kills and should be the easiest sin to eradicate given the battery of cameras at the BIB's disposal.
  17. It's been going on for years & it's not just bikes but cars as well; not just Laos but Cambodia too.
  18. Me too. I am now late; I thought I'd brought everything they could possibly ask for. For proof of address I gave them a copy of my Car insurance Certificate complete with seal/my name/address. This was sufficient last year; not so this year; likewise my driving licence which has my address on the back. They are insisting on my rental agreement which is a mere Word doc, easily mocked up by anyone who can use the Internet. Pattaya Immigration was swamped yesterday; not looking forward to today's battle.
  19. She is a slow learner, like most dog owners here.
  20. Like many Thai hi-sos who appeal & appeal until they are dead. At 82 he might not need more than a couple.
