  1. Thailand has the worlds longest elevated motorway, 54 KM and that's the Bang Na expressway, should be room for everyone if it could be organised right and made safe of course.

27'000 Cars parked on one side leaving 3 lanes open, and another 27'000 parked the other side leaving 3 lanes open.

They'd need about 2000 annoying security guards with Whistles to help you park and job's done!

thats a very very good point !, they could even build camps if really needed on the express ways..

  2. also , if there are any cheap condos near you, or your friend has a condo with raised parking, might be an idea to ask them ? , my old condo's parking space was on the fourth floor, also , you might be able to park at an office block?

  3. The National Flood Relief Centre said water up to one metre high (3.3 feet) was expected in the areas of Rangsit, Saimai, Lamlukka and Klongluang. Inner Bangkok was not affected by the advisory.

"In the worst case scenario the water will not exceed one metre high, so do not panic," science minister Plodprasop Suraswadi, who is in charge of flood relief operations in the area, said on national television.

so is 1 mtre expected, or worst case scenario? , very conflicting!, nd if i knew there was going to be 1 mtre of water, i would panic , as it would damage my house and endanger lives !

also, if one floddgate is breched, how many more will brech?

with such conflicting reports from different agencies who appear not to be speaking with each other, i would prepare for the worst, better safe then sorry

  4. airasia are all under 500 Pounds, this is from london to phuket return, also if you book from thailand return, it is 22 K all in

I dont think that AirAsia can be compared with a proper airline.

By the time all the extras are added on (food, drinks, baggage insurance) it will cost quite a lot more. And I wonder if they do any more than RyanAir do when a flight goes wrong? (RyanAir do nothing at all: you sort it all out for yourself.)

I'm really only interested in something of Emirates/Qatar standard, or better.

    I've just been offered £1570 return business LHR-BKK 15th Dec-8th Jan......whaddya think?

now thats good, who did you get that with in the end?

  5. I certainly don't doubt people have had good experiences at Fuji but please don't doubt my experience. I'm not going to mention the specific branch location as the topic was intended to be more general than that, paying service charge when the service wasn't there. I'll likely try Fuji again, but never again at that branch.

if you look at it a different way, would you always be happy if you where working 10 hour days for 8,000 THB a month? , but i will agree, if the service isnt there , it shouldnt be paid, but then in thailand, more or less all hotels and most food chains, excluding fast food, have this service charge for the staff, and if they do well, i will tip a little a bit

  6. Service is just as bad at the branch in Samui, especially at lunchtime. I simply shout at them and it seems to get their attention.

I love their crispy salmon with dill and sauce....

When it comes time to pay I walk up to the till and bark at them too....otherwise its a two hour nightmare.

You have my sympathy on this one for sure.

i have never ever had a problem at fuji ... even get a wink and the best table when i arrive, always served within 2 mins of sitting down, drinks brought over straight away, and my steak set always cooked perfectly and arives within 10 mins, sometimes quicker

again, same with fuji in phuket and pattaya, never an issue and i have ate there hundreds of times, mainly as there quilty of food is excellent, they are fast and there price cnnot be matched.

never really noticed sizzler, as i am always munching on the salad bar to notice how long it takes for the food arrive...

  7. Criminals are using sneaky new viruses that imitate internet banking pages to trick customers into leaking sensitive details, security experts warn.

A dangerous hacker scam busted in Spain is one of a nasty new breed of viruses set to invade the UK, software firm Trusteer says.

Britain's 25million internet banking users are at risk despite huge improvements in online security at big banks.

article-2047543-0E579C3B00000578-732_468x286.jpg Fraud risk: Dangerous new viruses masquerade as internet banking pages, luring customers into entering their details

The roll-out of card readers at the likes of Lloyds, Barclays, and NatWest, one-time mobile phone passcodes at Santander, and a new 'Secure Key' by HSBC have helped drastically reduce online fraud in recent years.

Total cash stolen from bank accounts online fell by 32 per cent over the last twelve months, thanks to new technology.

But experts are now warning that these high-tech safeguards are being cracked by old-school con artists using new and supremely camouflaged viruses.

And, worryingly, a leading software tester has told This is Money that even internet banking users with top-level security software like McAfee, Norton or Trusteer's own Rapport download – used by 7million bank account holders – are at risk.

  8. London - KL - Phuket - 88 Pound Each way plus taxes, comes to around 376 pounds all in Return ----- Cheapest Deal i Have ever seen

London - BKK , tickets are around 400 - 500 pounds economy on most airlines

Unless you say which airline and which booking agent/search site, and which dates/duration you looked at, these figures are pretty meaningless.

I see nothing at all under GBP500, very little under GBP550 and most above GBP600, but I'm looking for 1-year returns. So I would say prices are slightly higher than they were last year.

airasia are all under 500 Pounds, this is from london to phuket return, also if you book from thailand return, it is 22 K all in

  9. I flew in May with Royal Jordanian £404 return to BKK.

    BKK-Samui for 4500 Baht return.

    Not bad. wink.gif

who with ? , the CHEAPEST i could finf was 3160 THB one way, average price was 3900 THB one way on the BKK - samui route

Geez Boater, I'd think you would just be traveling by dory like I do... Just bring enough water and eat what you catch along the way. Think of the money you would save. :)

  13. dam_n I should have checked air Asia. I went with emirates in the end - £830 but I booked this back in June. (for December) At the time I did see some for around £550 with Gulf Air and Air India but I had read some horror stories about lost luggage so I didn't want to chance it. It's my first time so I want things to go smoothly. I just hope it doesn't snow.

airasia doesnt seem to use the flight search engines, can only book direct with them online ... but 830 pounds is pretty steep !, who did you book with ? and extra 370 pounds you could of had buisness class ;)

  14. Agreed, i flew in August with Etihad BKK to LON via Abu Dabi 28000bt return.

My mate is also flying with them in Nov LON to BKK £478 return.

Cheapest i've seen for a few years.

spoke to few mates last year and all the flights where around 700 pounds, compared to 400-500 Pounds

Biggest shocker was AirAsia with there 50 pound one way / 100 pound return to KL from london, ...

  15. the price of flights to Thailand are looking really cheap for the high season this year ( apart from BKK Air to Samui )

    An Example

London - KL - Phuket - 88 Pound Each way plus taxes, comes to around 376 pounds all in Return ----- Cheapest Deal i Have ever seen

London - BKK , tickets are around 400 - 500 pounds economy on most airlines

London - BKK , Tickets on Buisness class are starting at around 1,200 Pounds All in Return, best deal was with Eithad air for 1400 Return Including a 100 mile Free ride to the airport in london and a 60 km free ride in Bangkok

London - BKK , Tickets on First are starting at around 3,000 Pounds Return

  16. well with airasia now doing flights for 88 Pound one way or 176 pound return from London to Phuket .... i think Samui is just going to lose out more and more !

having a quick look at flights over xmas and packages, everywhere is do offers, speacial flights, hotel promotions APART from Samui ... maybe this is part of the TAT plan ...

if samui is to succeed, it needs to pull its fnger out of its arse, as people will be going for the offers and promotions, and Samui will look like some ripp off destiantion to the outside world
