  1. syd ive seen several do what you say ,i paid particular attention to one man he goes every evening ,he ate 2 bowles of chicken mushroom soup ,one large plate of pasta with garlic topping , 2 pints of coke , full plate of salad , full plate of fruit and 2 mouse deserts to finish it off , not bad for 149 baht .. and this man is not alone.im not a big fan of salads but the salad you can get in there is very good ,the selection is huge and fresh.........

Yes, I suspected that some people do this on a daily basis. I see similar behaviour in Apex breakfast buffet and Diana dinner restaurant.

I always commend value seeking in Pattaya when it comes down to food and beer.

    thanks for the feedback! :o

  2. Black Pudding pdate Request In Pattaya

There has been a shortae of quality Black Puddings in Pattaya recently.

Can anyone recommend a good supplier? The Supermarkets are not coming up with a decent black pudding in recent months.

  3. i like Nick the Pizza pizzas

i really cant understand how anyone could make a comment saying Nicks Pizzas nearly made them sick ..

i have been to Nicks business to pick up some food before ( although he does offer a FREE delivery service )

his kitchen is all stainless steel .. clean and gleaming .....and a team of about 8 staff preparing all the fresh vegetables etc and the constant phone prders that kept coming in .

he employs around 30 staff - wish my business was as successful as his !!

keep up the good work Nick .. you cant please all the people all the time

    Bannerman

Personally, I have tried a 'Nick The Pizza' once. It was without doubt the worst pizza I have ever tasted in my entire life.

It absolutely beggars belief that any human can suggest that a 'Nick's' pizza tastes good.

  4. I don't go to Villa often, due to the high prices in the market. But I have eaten at that counter a couple of times, and I find their entire menu a good value, with clean, quality food. In fact, it's a bit above the almost equally good value and menu at counter at Foodland (Took Dee?) in every regard. If I were a single guy, living near either of them, I'd be a regular customer.

    Fair point.

I have started eating there on a demi-serious basis for general snacks around 1400 hours. I have found the food offered to be above reasonable and at a decent and competitive price. I consider this place a bit of a secret in Pattaya. :o

  5. -- want a good food court dish at the new mall? Try the REAL food court in the basement, excellent Singapore rice noodles at the Chinese BBQ stall, with roast pork for abut 60 baht

    Very good advice.

Go underground at the new mall for a cheap and cheerful food court. Recommended A++

  6. Rain and thunderstorms at this time of year seems very queer, particularly in Pattaya.

What advice is there for people stuck in the open, during a lightning storm. Stand in the open or shelter under a tree?

  7. I recently bought a pack of 4 'Hot dog style' chicken sausages from 7.11.. They were really nice with a bit of Colemans Mustard, I was quite surprised as the food at 7.11 is normaly not that good. These are great for a snack and easily warmed in the Microwave.

Thanks for the heads-up on 7-11 sausage, I'll give them a try later tonight. :o

  8. Can anyone post names and web sites of good guest houses around centre road and soi buakow, third rd area for between 10k - 15k per mth......thanks in advance

As I have posted a couple of times prior, try the "Diana-Oasis" inside Diana Estate on Soi Bouakao. They have a bunch of different, very well appointed rooms in a beautiful Estate with 2 pools, gym, restaurant and have very friendly staff! Ideal for long-term! They have a website diana-oasis.com that shows one type of their new rooms, but I stayed in one of their cheaper rooms, about 14'000 month with free breakfast, cleaning, Wifi and more! Don't know why they don't show those cheaper rooms also on their site. Probably not many available. But even those rooms beat everything around, with new Daikin Air, Big Fridge, Microwave and so! Last time they had a lot of gulfers, they got plenty of safe parking and Meow has contacts to courses and transportation.Say hello to Meow the Manager, she might buy me lunch next time around! Another option is RCON down on Soi Boukaoa, but if you do the numbers it hardly compares to Oasis. :o JL.

Diana Oasis are good but there are serious 'noise' issues here.

R-Con on Soi Bukhaew, I have heard mixed reports, check security issues.

My recommendation is Soi 5 Pattaya Beach Road, quiet Soi 5 Apartments. About 2 minutes from 2nd Road end. Faultless with all amenities.

  9. the wife and i went to Baywatch for the first time today. aroy maak maak. the service was excellent, the room was full and the food was great. very pleasant experience. i tried the 3-egg omelette and it was excellent.

I must say that 'The Butchers Arms' on Soi Bukhaew offers a very good quality breakfast at just 100 baht. get there early for the quality sausage & bacon.

  10. Based on what other posters have stated I went to CB at Jomtien today and ordered two of the ham and cheese omelettes.

What can I say? They were fantastic! Even got the 8 slices of bread because of the two order. Man I was stuffed !

    10/10

I agree. I like omelette but if you eat too many you can get egg-bound.

  11. sizzlers salad bar buffet cant be beat and as much coke ,fanta as you want 140 baht .you cant go wrong for that.if you dont like there go to somewhere like manhattan in jomtien where staek main course goes up to 3000 baht

Is it possible to go into Sizzlers and just opt for salad and gorge out on that only. Because I have a suspicion that some people do this, and obtain protein from the mini eggs and kidney beans and carbohydrates from potatoes etc.

  12. I used to buy sausages from the street vendors a lot, but over time it seemed that the quality went down. I started finding bits of bone or cartilage in the sausages. However, if they were good, then they were very good, especially barbecued over charcoal rather than fried like they are in the western restaurants. Worth a try, anyway, but I have only eaten a couple in the last 6 months, and wasn't very impressed. :o

There are quite a selection of 'hot dog' style sausage in glass jars in the supermarkets of Pattaya.

Does anyone have any positive comments about these type of sausage?

  13. Caticlan Airstrip: Panay Island for Boracay Island. Asian Spirit.

I did this on a 18/19 seater in bad weather. It is the first time in my life I have actually fouled my pants in fear.

If you ever go to Boracay Island from Manila or any other Philippine city choose Kalibo as the airport for Boracay.

  14. What do you do these days for English newspapers?

They seem to be sold at Bookazine but only Mail/Sun/Star

    No qualities anymore like Telegraph/Times.....

Don't anyone say online. Because it's crap. No comparison between The Times and The Times online.

  15. Elefant I guess is a double malt beer and is much more palatable than Chang.

That's not saying much. Let's face it, a pile of steaming elephant dung is more palatable than a beer Chang!

Chang beer (when it is on-form) has the best 'beer' taste of all. Much better than Singha, Leo, Archa, the problem for some people is the strength and the hangover.

I agree, I would not like a skin-full before a bumpy 6.00 am visa-run, but at least it tastes like beer.

  16. She may as well be dead, they claim no sign of brain activity. My understanding is she stopped breathing for a period of time, the doctor checked, declared her dead.If she has stopped breathing for a while, then there is a real possibility of brain damage. So maybe the doctors need some extra training...

To declare a person dead is a serious matter. A professional Doctor of Medicine will give a good ten minutes to this task. To declare a person dead when he/she is not so is IMHO almost unforgivable.

There are weird cases of snakebites and heart stoppages but they are very, very rare.

The Doctor who declared this woman dead deserves to be struck-off. Period.

At a high-fee-paying hospital like the BKK-Pattaya-Hospital where Doctors are not over worked and much overpaid and enjoy first class equipment and facilities, such an error is absolutely bizzare.

  17. Hey this thread has helped me !! I thought I was losing my sense of taste - I have been buying bottled chang for a long time, up until about 6 months ago all the bottles tasted the same, now its very hit or miss. Sometimes its disgusting. Sometimes its as it was.

    I thought it was me.

Maybe some counterfeit chang is getting into the chain.

Look on the neck of the glass bottle of Chang, in tiny black writing you will see the date the beer was bottled. Don't attempt to drink (or reject) any beer older than 3 months.

You would (or maybe wouldn't) here in Thailand, be surprised to hear that some stores and supermarkets sell bottles of beer 12 months old stock or more!

  18. At first glance this idea from Ryan Air might look like a winner. But consider this:

A big gang of drunken Cheap Charlie lads, back from a weekend in Dublin on their way back to Liverpool Airport. One of them has a sly piss in a 500ml empty water bottle then they all follow suit. There is a fumble, then a spillage all over the floor of the aircraft.

It won't take long before the entire Ryan Air fleet stinks like a urinal.

The clean-up cost for Ryan Air will wipe out any profits from coin slot toilets.
