PM Happy with Thailand Being Best Place to Retire in Asia
phutoie2 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Retired in Thailand, love it... Yesterday spent just about the whole day at Kabin Buri Amphur. Annual extension at Immigration is a walk in the park compared to what my wife and family had to go through. Trying to get a replacement birth certificate for a sister who lives in Germany. I'll spare the details... Sat waiting patiently in the aircon room I was the subject of great interest. Clearly not many had actually seen a farang face to face. Elderly people coming to have a good look, one or two youngsters trying to practice their English, security guards bringing bottles of cold water... Some well dressed top totty to look at, well it sort of made the day go quicker. -

90 Day Reporting Question
phutoie2 replied to Smithson's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Address reporting starts from first day you entered Thailand, not difficult to work out. Put your 90 days on a calendar or something similar...... -
Nothing on the current pickup truck market floats my boat, all outrageously over priced bloated barges. Come on, over a million Baht for a vehicle still with leaf springs.........

Thx for replies, all useful info. Sheryl, no extra meds for AF, but I do take medicine for HBP, which is under control. My O2 levels have been low for some time, readings always below 90. Cardio puts this down to diastolic dysfunction. I am due back for appointment on 29 Dec, BK Phitsanulok.

Just done 2 day stint in hospital, BKP, but not the Pattaya one. Have a very dysfunctional heart rhythm according to the 10 yo old looking Cardiologist. No fair dues, she was good. Up shot is start taking Xarelto 20mg, an hour before take something to settle stomach, Lansoprazole. UK NHS covers a lot of info on this type of medicine, one suggestion is to stop shaving with razor blades, and use electric shaver. Anyone take this medicine and suffered severe bleeding.... Thx

PROS & CONS OF THAI ID CARD
phutoie2 replied to Tosseroon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just done a two nighter at popular Rayong beach hotel. Booked and paid thru Agoda, on checking in Thai desk bod just wanted booking ID from Agoda email. No passport, vacinne proof, pink IDs etc. I asked about getting a beer over there in the restaurant and he gave one of the best shrug of shoulders I have seen. Almost Fawltyesque....... -

Anyone came across Bran or Rye here for breadmaking?
phutoie2 replied to Kenny202's topic in Western Food in Thailand
Have a good look around your local bread supply shop. In Phetchabun City we have two such good places, I buy Rye from them at 540B for a 5KG sack, known as Pan Li Dam. For Rye bread I use it lightly, 100g Rye + 400g bread flour ratio. Watch water amount, I use 320ml per half kg. Bake in hotter oven than white death bread. I make a few Kgs every week for German/Swiss customers, -
I notice on my yellow vaccination certificate you now have a Citizen ID number as well as passport number. Does this mean I can use the 13 number ID? I don't have pink card/yellow book as always used Passport, for hospital Reg, DL, banking etc Just done my 3rd 5 year DL and if you are married to a Thai I get a proof of residence letter from local Amphur. This time our district rules have changed and as well as wife being present, I needed 2 witnesses and a book case full of photocopies etc, for the interview, but it was free....

The thing about high BP is to find the cause which isn't always easy. I have been seeing the cardiologist at a private hospital here every month for investigation. Must have had every test available. I have an abnormal heart rhythm and enlarged heart, and now on medication to get it under control. Not sure if I would advise against a CT scan as they find things maybe you wouldn't like to know. In my case stones in my gall bladder and 2cm tumour on one of the adrenal glands. Prices, 13K for scan, 7K, echo cardio, and EKG, xrays other stuff, medicines, especially the imported stuff expensive though.....

Phetchabun military veterans and expats will be having a small service at Battle Horse Barracks, 1100hrs. Refreshments will be offer later within the club house. Normally we would be attending the Kanchanaburi service at Don Rak cemetery.

If that fixed account has an Orange passbook you can only make withdrawals at the counter of the BKB you opened it at. For general banking most have savings account with blue passbook and appropriate ATM/Mastercard etc and you can withdraw money just about anywhere. I was caught out many years back with this, put a big wad in a fixed account (orange pass book) and tried to make a big withdrawal in my wife's province for paying off building supplies. Local BKB branch there would not do it, made a bit of a pratt myself, losing my cool,..........

Retirement Extension Cancelled- What options
phutoie2 replied to fangless's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Wouldn't immigration check if you didn't maintain the 400K balance by examining your bank books/statements come next extension renewal time.... It shouldn't happen, the dipping below your amounts, but folk here do strange stuff with their dosh, how many Wise threads ongoing just now...... -
Retirement Extension Cancelled- What options
phutoie2 replied to fangless's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So what happens if you accidentally or deliberately dip below the 400K amount?.... Extension immediately void and you are on overstay from the date you went below, despite maybe making up the balance later... There's a long post on an FB Thai immigration group about this.......
