Economy Thailand Races to Renegotiate US Tariffs as 36% Hike Sparks Alarm
ukrules replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
36% is far too low, it's time to pay Also if Trump was serious about 'reciprocity' he would ban Thais from holding more than 49% in US companies and prohibit land purchases. That would be reciprocity. Grind them into the ground. -
Report Tragedy Strikes: UK Man Passes in Thailand, Baby Born Days Later
ukrules replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This happened weeks ago, perhaps he was only away for a few weeks and due back well before the birth. I wouldn't assume anything really. Also they have rasied nearly 50k in pounds which will likely help a little now she's on her own and without his salary. -
Economy Trump Dishes Out 36% Tariffs in Shock Move Against Thailand
ukrules replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is redundancy in the supply chains, HDs destined for the US don't need to come from Thailand, they could come from somewhere else and the Thai ones go to Europe / rest of world. WD/Seagate are not stupid enough to put all their eggs in one basket....again. -
Politics Thai Politicians Allegedly Hold Secret Bank Accounts in Cambodia
ukrules replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Lol, anyone can open a bank account in Cambodia, I've got one. They didn't even ask for proof of my address - I wrote it down for them and that was good enough, all you need is a 6 or 12 month visa and you're in - and that's with ABA, one of the most reputable of the banks. -

Was I crazy to buy a Neta V now the company is going bust?
ukrules replied to BritManToo's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Looks alright to me, and at that price even if you get just 4 or 5 years out of it it's essentially disposable. I spent more on laptops (2 high end ones) over the last 6 years 🤣 -
Depends if you're a tax resident or not and nothing is automatic anyway - you would need to declare income the following year and apply any double taxation agreements between countries. So if you were to move to Thailand now (as in today) it's not possible to stay 180 days as we're already past the cutoff date by 1 day - there's less than 180 days remaining in the year - there's currently 179 days left this year so any day after today is a good day to move to Thailand and send as much money as you want. You could stay for the rest of the year knowing that you're a non resident, but if you moved last week or last month then it's time to start planning if you want to remit a lot of money earned after Dec 31 2023.

I think some of them do make a proper business out of it - one with multiple employees and they don't do all the editing, filming themselves, etc. But we're definitely talking about the larger Youtubers with a big following - some of them have a really massive following, I saw one dude with more than 500,000 people following his channel - he went unusually silent over the last year or so though.

This is completely normal, anyone, anywhere can come out of any side street, drive the wrong way down a dual carriageway, etc. Expect the unexpected because it is happening all around you, all the time and do your best to avoid it.

What's to alert about the passport? Were the drugs hidden in the passport? Anyway now she's blacklisted she will never be heard from again so it doesn't matter. Zero voice for her.- 64 replies

Yes, I made sure everything was up to date and matched between the bank and DTAC which is my mobile provider. I went the mobile store first, then the bank - they already had my new passport but I wanted to double check about the mobile phone checking system - you see I am now in Cambodia and wanted to avoid any issues while over here - all seems well but I can see where it might fall apart due to expired ID documents that remain unaltered when renewed.
-
I went down to Kasikorn and made sure both the mobile phone company and the bank were using my new passport which I've had for a couple of years already just to make sure I avoided this situation - so far so good. But the mobile phone company definitely had the old expired passport on file for me, I wondered if that would make any difference, not sure about you but in the UK the passport number completely changes every time you get a new one.

The proposed new change about same year income and previous year income which is supposedly making its way towards a Royal Decree will nullify all of this for the vast majority of people if it ever shows up. Of course recent political 'alterations' might change that - but maybe not as it's still the same party in charge at the moment. So a lot hinges on that supposedly proposed Royal Decree to encourage remittances really.
