If you stay less then 180 days in the first year then you are correct, you will not be a tax resident and you can submit as much money as you want - millions or tens of millions - doesn't matter although you're going to lose interest on any extra, but that might be worth it. Personally when I become a tax resident again, perhaps in 2030 or some time around there I will have enough cash on hand inside Thailand already to last me the next 5 to 10 years in cash (banks,etc) ...assuming I can bear the thought of remitting that amount from places where it is earning decent returns..... In Thailand I have only come across things like government bonds which have derisory returns The goal for me is to pay zero tax, ever.

I keep my money outside of Thailand, problem solved.

I would hedge that this guy didn't cut the heart and lung out of any of his his first victims. His entire history of movement needs examining. In the Thai language news it is being reported that the lung was not intact, suggestions he may have ate some of it.

So for some reason people who live in Thailand are tarnished by the country. What have Thailand done that has made the place so unimaginably hostile to this bank that the literal very same bank that laundered cartel money for decades will not do small and simple business with those of us who just happen to live in Thailand?

The simple uneducated man in the video has no idea what a pre-auth hold is and how long it takes for it to 'get released' which will vary based on his bank and a number of other factors. It is not instant and many of the less intelligent people in the world immediately start screaming about being scammed, calling the police, etc - merely for what amounts to nothing more than a pre-authorisation on a credit card. People should really learn about the payment systems they use.

No, they are not trying to do this - they ARE ALREADY doing this.

What complete nonsense, more will overstay with reduced number of days. Nobody's coming to Thailand on a 30 or 60 day visa exempt entry and starting a business and then working illegally. But if they do then there's an entire police force - the immigration police who are already tasked with doing the job of detecting this activity, making arrests and prosecuting offenders - just like in every other country on earth. Are the police not doing their job - can't be bothered or something?

The US will look to exempt any goods that they need access to. Hard disks are going to be one of them. If the Thais want to wage war against the US they could shut down the small consular outpost in Chiang Mai in retaliation and whatever else they're doing for the Americans that we don't know about - and I am reasonably sure there's plenty going on.

That's the thing with visas. You can just get another one and unless you're on the blacklist nobody cares.

I make zero effort to do anything Thai. I did a language course once but could not be bothered to continue with it. I give his country and its people exactly what it gives me - which is nothing at all.
