You have forgotten the ritualistic waving of a dead chicken over the rod ????????

In the U.K. it’s up to 5 ohms in the USA up to 25

You are taking one small point in the life of a vehicle and ignoring the improvements made in engine technology. In Thailand there is very limited infrastructure available for EVs and if you want to drive from Udonthani to Bangkok you either can’t do it in one go, I’ve done this trip reasonably often, or your trip time has to take hours longer due to the requirements of battery charging and your route options are restricted. That is just one real life example of where an EV isn’t better than an ICEV. Then you get to the restricted load carrying of your EV. I have carried about a ton on the udon Bangkok route, there maybe an EV that has that load capacity, probably not, but there certainly isn’t one that can do the trip in a similar time to my diesel pickup. in some situations an EV is a good choice, it’s unlikely to be suitable for many.

He doesn’t sell anything. He is happy to get discounts on any vehicle someone wants to buy. He does take issue with manufacturers or agents who give bad customer service and will advise against buying the vehicles however great they are to drive, but if you are sure of the vehicle you want to buy he will help. He is giving almost impartial advice. People mostly don’t bother to understand or watch the videos, it seems that you may have been one of those, they just go by the headline. I have no interest in bashing EVs if you have actual read my posts you will understand that. I will buy and drive the vehicle that makes sense, at the present time and for my use it is extremely unlikely to be an EV however if I did get either an EV or hybrid I would put it in the garden about 20 metres from our house not in our beside house parking area.

There is one point that I didn’t mention and that is, if you see an EV fire DO NOT approach it unless you have proper breathing protection as the byproducts include gaseous dangerously corrosive acids and poisonous vapours, so unless you want a potentially short, excruciating and deadly visit to an intensive care unit, go upwind and as far away as you can. This is a case where trying to help is potentially a death sentence Here is why you don’t park or charge EVs in your enclosed garage

You haven’t done your homework. You should really understand the actual risks and inherent problems He is not remotely anti EV. He has owned an EV for a significant time and makes the point that they are a good choice for some owners. The vast majority of EVs are young so it is natural that there will be fewer fires per 100,000 vehicles sold, they are almost all in the more expensive end of the market, making the numbers smaller again. His points are that for the vehicles that catch fire the risks are very significantly higher and virtually no fire service has been trained for them, that little to no thought has been involved in the citing of EV, charging points in multistorey car parks, as if there is a fire, it’s not going to be put out by the regular firefighting equipment vehicles which mostly contain petrol or diesel are going to make a multi story car park fire a huge disaster.

Thanks I haven’t brought up the fact that switching to EVs, while they maybe a great choice for an individual owner as long as they are treated with the respect that is vital to not becoming a marshmallow in your own burning property, are totally meaningless in the reduction of greenhouse gas production. Yes they may fractionally reduce the amount produced by a vehicle owner but you have to do a whole life analysis to find the small amount saved anyway here are a few more educational videos.

There seems to be little attention being paid to the rather extreme problems that can and are happening with large scale deployment of big (anything over 1kWh) batteries. there is currently a rather large fire in Australia which is a LiFePO4 battery bank that is one of electric Jesus products that is supposed not to allow the problem to happen. The installation is not fire resistant and the fire is in one of these banks and could easily spread to more. The vapours are rather toxic and there is no fire suppression available and the firefighting is just to let it burn and use hasmat PPE if you get anywhere near it. these are the nasties when the batteries are not on fire and there is the ship outside the Dutch coast that burned for a week and when back in port there were still cars that were so damaged that after a month were still having to be submerged in water as they were starting to burn. So if you have a battery bank. DO NOT have it in or close to your house. If you have an EV charge point do not have it in an enclosed space and charge the vehicle in an area that is separate from your house. Do not park close to an EV as this is a risk, it was a single battery that caused all the damage and was only controlled to cause such little damage because there was an aviation fire department within a few hundred meters

Does my CU set up comply with Thai regulation?

Just a point of clarification, Chinese manufacturers make top quality products, including rocket science, the problem is that they also make utter carp so you have to distinguish between the good, bad and deadly. -
Drain pipes for kitchen? Blue pipes? Clean water only?
sometimewoodworker replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
Just because nearly every one is quoting the same information does not make it true. There are too many instances of the perceived knowledge being found to be untrue when there is actual testing done. The incorrect unfounded assumptions being taught for decades as “truth” are extremely hard to change as people are resistant to change. So rather than me going back and finding the test results showing that my recollection is accurate, why don’t you point to scientific studies showing that the “general rule” is true. Your observation that Is correlation and you should be well aware that correlation is not causation. You have a datum point, you are drawing a conclusion from that. It is certainly a possibility that your conclusion maybe correct, but without extensive testing it is unproven. There are far too many variables, one, of many, possibilities is that the plastics have degraded. -

An often stated idea though in all testing that I have seen it is not supported by the results. So it doesn’t do any harm to separate them but has no measurable benefit specially if running the higher Cat numbers. -
That AFIK is largely due to marketing. In general the more expensive the devices the better quality, but then you have the advertising to add in, I would consider a Schneider product to be better than a Safety-Cut One.

Are you trying to be argumentative or do you not understand anything about electrical wiring and safety. Safety devices fail, not often and not usually but they do fail, so with systems that protect against very severe injuries and death anyone with half a brain cell has multiple layers of protection. In the next village last week a very healthy octogenarian lady died by electrocution due to a very unfortunate series of events. Electricity is dangerous and deadly given just the wrong series of events. But please do try to achieve an individual Darwin Award

You need to ask someone who is qualified to answer. I am not, but I do know enough to know what I don’t know.

Mobile SIM options for cheap charlie
sometimewoodworker replied to villageidiotY2K's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Why not? The iPhone can have multiple eSIMs with any 2 currently active, I have 1 eSIM and 1 physical one. That was never correct, you can top up 10 Baht minimum multiple times, to add 30 days and have up to a maximum of 1 year validity -
There are far more fault conditions than the one you envision. This is why an earth cable is designed to carry hundreds of amps (very short time) not just a few milliampere’s

The reason was given above

You can find type B units here but will have to go to a real electrical supply shop and order them. It is likely that few Thai electrical fitters know or understand the theory if which category is required and why. Your understanding is incorrect, the correct type depends on the type of load and inrush current, so the type that should be used is often B for domestic but not always. In short use the correct type for the correct load That maybe correct, quite likely not and you are ignoring the cable size. You need to have a suitable meter and knowledge of the equations and electrical theory and meter usage to understand the correct usage to be able to determine which load curve is correct for your installation. A good electrical supply shop will either have everything required or be able to order it for you. They may even give advice if you know how to ask (probably you need to speak Thai) for the calculations and some of (all of) the theory Calculating Maximum Zs Values for Circuit Breakers and Other Devices

It depends on your level of knowledge. From your question I would estimate that your knowledge is not that high, so you can’t tell if the earth pin is connected or not. It probably isn’t but then that’s a probability not a certainty. If the earth pin is used then changing it to a 2 pin plug is not a good idea. For myself it’s a trivial simple safe job, but then virtually all the sockets in my house are able to have U.K. plugs plugged in with no adapter, so I would be unlikely to change it anyway.
