It is quite likely that the metal frame will be tied into the foundations rebar, if so then it’s probable that they are already grounded. However the only way to know for sure is to get them tested and you have little chance of finding someone with the test equipment.

Multiple Entry Visa Problems
sometimewoodworker replied to EveryG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Virtually all visas have become more difficult over the years as the system has been more and more abused, so you can thank the abusers rather than castigating the embassies who are trying to reduce the abuse. That could characterise almost anybody, (in my personal experience it did) as it’s the IOs judgment that can only be challenged by trying to involve a supervisor or as a faint possibility trying to get a lawyer, for which the words snowball, chance and hell are probably accurate. It seems remarkably similar to me, the difference being the fig leaf’s placement has changed from 7 to 2. The refusals are as arbitrarily seeming to the outside view point as they ever were.and the IOs are still as able as they ever were to deny entry to anyone the want to, just the excuse has changed. You should know that not all changes of policy are given an official ministerial announcement, so it’s perfectly possible that there have been changes that have been implemented without an announcement. -
Multiple Entry Visa Problems
sometimewoodworker replied to EveryG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is no misconception. All countries have their own laws/regulations. That most are similar or the same as others is just a fact, as is the fact that most countries have subtle, or major differences. Your conception that the written laws were rigidly followed from 1979 to, say, 2010 with no ability to deny entry for any other reason is incorrect. My first visit to Thailand was in 1980 with too many to count since then. Immigration officers have always denied entry for people they did not want to admit and have always found a “reason” to list this denial as one of the legitimate ones. For the first several years of my visits it was well known that people with questionable hygiene and or less than common hairstyles and clothing would probably be refused entry to Thailand. FWIW AFIR there were even printed posters in immigration departments showing this. I have been near enough to immigration officers on several occasions during the years to overhear these conversations. So your rose coloured glasses must be fading or you have had different arrival experiences to mine. -
Multiple Entry Visa Problems
sometimewoodworker replied to EveryG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Actually there are several countries, possibly many, where the permission to stay is always limited by the visa. Thailand maybe unusual in that the 2 (visa expiration and stay limit) are not linked -
Call apple Thai support (from Thailand) on 1800-01-9209 for complete information. the Thai version supports AIS, AIS supports e-SIM but the Thai version connectivity is LTE 1 (2100 MHz) 2 (1900 MHz) 3 (1800 MHz) 4 (AWS) 5 (850 MHz) 6 (850MHz) 7 (2600 MHz) the USA version is UMTS 2100 MHz 1900 MHz 1700/2100 MHz 850 MHz So the USA version maybe incompatible with AIS

Multiple Entry Visa Problems
sometimewoodworker replied to EveryG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So you expect that 2 different non English speaking countries will have perfect English speakers/writers on staff!! You also expect that the standard (in so far as I have experienced in my 35 years of living outside the U.K. in Asia) rules that are followed in every country I’ve been to and know of, including Britain’s HMRC of visas starting the day of issuance will magically change. Every country has subtly different rules, it is your responsibility to find out what they are. The rules are always written in the native language of the country, English translations are always a guide and as close as they can be to accurate, but no language exactly translates to any other, some are closer others not so much. This is something you should know specifically because you are resident in an Asian country. -
Multiple Entry Visa Problems
sometimewoodworker replied to EveryG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
They are absolutely correct all visas I have obtained in the last 40 years started on the issue date. They are never post dated. The period of validity always starts the day of issuance and you must use them within the validity period. It absolutely does. That you misunderstood is not the fault of the embassy. Because it is! Not surprisingly, a visa is never changed, only in exceptional situations is it cancelled and reissued. Your mistake is not exceptional. You were given the time you applied for! Your only recourse will be to ask to have the visa cancelled and reapply as close to your arrival date as you can, you will have to pay for the new visa. That you didn’t understand is not the fault of the embassy nor is it the responsibility of theirs to educate you. This is not the way that Thai visas work. The expiration date is the last date you can enter, you will be granted time to stay between 60 days and 1 year beyond the expiration of the visa depending on the visa you hold. I have lived in 2 countries that allow staying beyond the time the visa allows, you just assumed that the rules of one country have anything to do with the rules of another. Why should they respond faster? They have jobs to do that don’t involve responding immediately. Once a day is sufficient. A common misconception. A visa allows you to present yourself to an immigration officer. Visa’s never give permission to enter a country. That the vast majority of people presenting themselves to immigration officers are then granted permission to enter the country is the decision of the immigration officer. This is true of every country that I have been to. It is probably universal. Until you have been allowed, by an immigration officer to enter the country you are in a grey area that is technically not actually in the country. Physically being in, for example Thailand, is not relevant as, again for example embassy grounds are not within Thailand’s jurisdiction. Well it is actually @EveryGs responsibility for not researching enough, all of his points of complaint are well reported. @jimn you are completely correct that he is wasting his time complaining about a situation that is his own problem and as many people have found out, you deal with the situation politely, calmly and learn from it or you create more problems for yourself. -
Yes I am. However the person getting the stamp is responsible for its correctness, I also know that the vast majority of immigration offices will not correct it and direct him to the issuing entry point, he can try but is unlikely to get it corrected by anyone else. So as been pointed out there are only two real options. 1) go back to the entry point and ask for a correction. 2) exit Thailand before the correct time has expired. The second option is safe as leaving during the valid (not stamped) stay time is never a problem. @problemfarang you and I are not suggesting all the same options and most of the ones you suggest are either unlikely to work despite your statement Or for the other advice Could well produce a 20,000 fine and a ban for 1 year

A pressure washer does a good job. -
This is incorrect advice. In most cases that have been reported here someone with an incorrect date stamp is told that the must return to the immigration office (usually the airport) where they got the wrong stamp. Occasionally officers may allow the correction to be made where you report the mistake, CW has been known to allow this.

Why? Comorbidities increase risk, old age increases risk, lack of vaccinations increases risk, lack of mask wearing increases risk, being with other people increases risk, catching COVID increases risk Regrettably the level of intelligence has not been studied to evaluate if it increases risk, though it is very likely that the support of the orange buffoon will be shown to increase risk, due to the fact that mask deniers, vaccine deniers, fake treatment supporters, believers in fake theories of election misconduct are all over represented (or even exclusively) buffoon supporters .

It is also extremely cheap to call both U.K. and USA landlines at about $2.00 per hour -
should I use a RCBO breaker?
sometimewoodworker replied to STD Warehouse's topic in The Electrical Forum
The problem with not testing them with the button is that, yes they may fail early by using it but if you don’t use it you won’t know that they have failed so you don’t have protection. Thusly dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t! But if you do then the period without protection is short. -

Double glazing for sound reduction in a Bangkok Condo.
sometimewoodworker replied to Aussieroaming's topic in DIY Forum
I have got about a 24db reduction in sound from our windows and doors. Using inert gas does virtually nothing to stop sound, the standard is Argon, it does guarantee that there is no humidity in the IGU, and slightly reduces heat transfer. Using different thicknesses of glass does help though it is not really to stop resonance, it is because each thickness reduces transmission by different frequencies. However neither double nor triple glazed panels do very much by themselves The ways to reduce sound more effectively are to use 1 laminated pane and a thicker than usual second pane for the door under The specification was; Inoutic - Window, Laminate LowE G3+1.52PVB+CLowE4 + Ars8 + C5, 21.5 mm Glass: The actual supply was; Laminate C4+1.52PVB+LowEC4+Ars8+C5 The top is about the cost for a single section of your sliding door, don’t forget to specify toughened glass for the non laminated pane of the IGU FWIW a single door glazing unit is about 50kg without the frame. -

Correctly functioning septic tanks almost never need emptying and if you ever pump them out you should immediately fill them with water so they don’t float. -

How to paint floor with epoxy color - TOA Floorguard
sometimewoodworker replied to AndyAndyAndy's topic in DIY Forum
If you have a Ford cup or can buy one then you can check the viscosity for spraying, that will confirm the dilution. An alternative is that the spray dilution is roughly the same viscosity as cream/milk, but no thicker than that -
It is perfectly possible that what you have received are not 12v LEDs, there are many supply voltages for LEDs. What I would do is first inspect them carefully to see if there is any markings to suggest the supply voltage and if it is AC or DC then I would use my bench power supply and start ramping up the voltage whilst limiting the current at some point the lights will either start to glow or the magic smoke may come out. They are very unlikely to actually go bang however much fun that may be. You don’t have the power supply to play with so your options are limited to the inspection, and hope that the markings if any are true.

Marriage extension using Pension
sometimewoodworker replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If the pension is over the minimum ฿40,000 per month then he is absolutely correct. There are only 3 countries that do not issue letters for immigration, U.K. USA and Australia. -
Are there Khon Kaen to Mukdahan direct bus routes
sometimewoodworker replied to Stekmer's topic in Isaan
The bus station in KK has moved, it is now in an area where there are few hotels, if any, and you certainly can’t walk from it to anywhere with the good eating places and nightlife. it’s at the bottom of the map -
800K Check
sometimewoodworker replied to AAArdvark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Many offices will always check at renewal, there are reports of a renewal being refused if the minimums have not been kept, even if the shortfall was small and short lived. If you fall into this category you should see reports from your immigration office. You may decide that an agent can help you and that the cost is low enough that it is the best option. In general I do not advise using agents for many reasons, but this maybe the best worst option. TIT YMMV -
Portable 5G Routers, Best Option
sometimewoodworker replied to Joeski's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Do you realise that the paint on the device doesn’t affect the functionality? Put in a True SIM and it will work, they use the same spectrum. Though it is faintly possible that there could be a carrier lock. -
The length of time that there has been no problem does not change the danger or the urgency. Have you tested the RCBO regularly before? If not you don’t know if the wiring is one problem, if you did then you know the RCBO must be replaced. There are many systems that until there is a fault work with no problem. The RCBO is there to reduce the chance of death if a fault happens in the wrong way. At this time you do not have the protection that an RCBO gives. The problem is that you have no idea when and to whom an accident will happen. Do you want a child or loved one to find out if a fault is deadly?
