  1. That’s exactly what I was thinking of, one further point don’t forget to add some rust prevention paint to the rebar. It’s probably easiest to use a trough and soak the bar a couple of times. The paint will mostly get rubbed off as they get hammered in but if you use deformed bar some will stick, I would also use something a bit longer than 1.2 M as you might not have much left above ground, I would test how far the bars can be whacked in before deciding the length. Also doing it with those will allow you to stake all the rings.
  2. I would be inclined to add something like a low 15cm concrete block between the rings and beside the uprights or some very thick lengths of rebar hammered well down into the ground as stops.
  3. Just one, very important point, do not underestimate the ability of the earth to move your concrete rings and to then push you concrete slatted wall out of plumb. I would not under any circumstances allow anything between your concrete rings and the wall. Do not underestimate the ability of earth, stone or sand to push your wall over. I have had experience of a well built wall being almost pushed over by numptys that way, to this day we have to have props against the low side.
  4. The number of bags is unlimited, though 40 bags of 1kg each would make for an interesting conversation ???? However since each bag has a weight the more bags you have the less weight of stuff you can put into them.
  5. It is actually free. You paid a 500 Baht bribe
  6. The best information will come if you can check the actual supply water temperature. If you can site your supply tank on the roof and you have decent sunshine you can get by with smaller unit. However even if you are managing to get 30 degree water supply from the tank a 3.5kW heater is only going to give warm water showers. A 5.5 kW heater is going to give you hot showers with that kind of input temperature, but the colder the supply water temperature is, the greater the power that you need. We have 6 kW units and when the supply temperature drops to under 20 degrees we can’t get hot showers.
  7. It looks as if you haven’t been to any electrical supply shops or even any of the large stores like Global, HomePro and any of the other DIY stores. Those switches and others are available in every one. Just because many Thai houses use a very limited range of items doesn’t mean that vastly more kinds are difficult to find.
  8. I didn’t mention, because of course @Lars Johnson already knows, that the cutouts for the sink and hob will be done on site anyway. So that’s either your job if you are installing and you will have the tools or get the professionals to do the complete job.
  9. Learn patience and politeness. There are many granite/stone shops, they will all cut polish and install. If as you say you have done it yourself you should know this and will have the required 4 or more people to assist.
  10. You have a rather unique way of phrasing the items you want ???? however virtually every kind of switch is easily available here. We have a few of the kind you are probably talking about, where there are switches outside each door that control the lights, these are 2 way switches. as with other posters I have no idea what an impulse switch is, That is probably correct and with switches RF is more common than Wi-Fi and ZigBee is probably better https://gratiathailand.com/gratia/ has a range
  11. While your thinking could be the intention for the "notified period of stay" as I understand what Udon office practice is that any return to the usual address is covered by the original TM30. Also I have returned from overseas 27 days after my permission to stay expired but within the under consideration period and re-entry permit, so there is certainly room for interpretation as to the "notified period of stay". I cannot be sure as there have been no reports of people who have filled a TM30 being required to file another one and no consistent reports of people being fined for falling to file AFAIR no fines at all. Of course this is only relevant to the practice at Udon office but from what I’ve read on the subject in TV it holds true for many offices. As usual TIT YMMV
  12. Asking your immigration office when convenient is usually the best idea, though if you mention the office you use you may get someone who knows the answer for your office as well as the immigration rules.
  13. The correct answer is NO. However as both the TM30 & TM47 are administered by each local office, the actual situation is MAYBE, I can only speak definitively for Udon's position and it is a NO CM is known to be not following the guidelines so they’re probably yes. the rules are posted both by me and @rodgerdodger but they are sufficiently vaguely written so technically both Udon and CM could be seen to be correct. The local interpretation comes fro the highlighted words under I have not seen anything that defines the length of the “notified period of stay” it maybe unpublished. @paddyfield7 nobody is forcing you to stay, more are you forced to read messages by people you don’t like. Just go to
  14. Did you miss the police order ?
  15. They may well be wholly owned by Bangkok Bank (BBL) Thailand, they are however licensed and regulated by 3 completely different different authorities, as are the Bangkok Banks in Japan and China, again regulated by the respective authorities. It is just possible that they are considered to be branches of BBL Thailand, but the regulations governing them make the independent entities. Otherwise how would the various boards such as FSCS be able to guarantee compensation to depositors if a bank is unable to meet its financial obligations, you can be assured that the governance bodies making those guarantees have anything but charitable intentions. Banks rather more than other companies keep the structures rather less open than others, so I would be interested to know where the exact information of the Bangkok Bank structuring of the companies under the umbrella name “Bangkok Bank” came from?
  16. You misunderstand the situation with banks. Bangkok Bank Thailand though it has correspondence with Bangkok Bank in the USA they are independent entities. It is the same with all other banks Citibank is another example the only advantage with having accounts in more than one country is that a reference from one country can make opening an account in another country easier. So bank A in one country is independent of bank A in other countries, there is little advantage in holding accounts in different countries with the same bank. You still have to do the same international transfer. You can’t however open a Bangkok bank account in the USA, as they don’t accept retail customers.
  17. Regrettably there is no nationality clause allowing for extended stay to permitting Thai nationality, so she will never get a white Thai ID unless she qualifies to change nationality or gain permanent residency, she may possibly qualify for a pink ID number, I have one as a longtime (though temporary not permanent) resident.
  18. That information may be correct in some offices. It is not correct for Udon immigration. There the clock starts from the date of the report, it is the same if done online or in person ( I can’t comment on the date for a mail in report as I haven’t done one) It is completely logical that the 90 days resets from the report date as the requirement is to report every 90 days. However the reporting is governed by easy office and TIT so some offices will have different policies.
  19. This is not restricted to the MTD, the fixed term account has the same access. Absolutely. That is exactly why I have received 2.15% for the last 3 and a half years
  20. While the Savings Mee Tae Dai Deposit account opened on line does give a rate of 1.5% for the first 100k and 1% for the next amounts up to 2,000k it is not such a good account A Time Deposit Account; Tenor 48 months pays 1.5% for any amount, (withdrawals at any time with loss of interest) so OK for immigration. For these reasons I have 400k in the 4 year account and our yearly budget in a Mee Tae Dai with a standing monthly transfer to SCB for daily spending This means that the annual renewal amount (on the spouse extension) is never touched (though I must remember to renew the 4 year term this year) I also do not have any card for the accounts So for the best interest rates the above works well. I know that @Barley you were looking for online information, but the time deposit is a much better option
  21. We have a 2 burner Häfele hob a 2 zone Häfele induction cooker and a Häfele extractor, The gas hob has worked, the induction cooker has had the fan ‘stop control’ fried by lightning (I will install a remote switch for the socket sometime) it still works. I just need more rountits, the extractor was initially replaced due to motor noise, it’s sill noisy but better. If the extractor were a standard size I would replace it when it dies (if I don’t die first ???? ) If either of the 2 cookers died completely I would probably get a replacement Häfele unit if available. We don’t have an oven but do have a Philips Air Fryer and an ‘add water’ toaster along with a microwave
  22. He is not getting dotty, but you are if you believe the voltage on that advertisement. It certainly is possible to have a battery pack that can provide 128v but impossible to produce a pack that can provide that voltage and power a ½” impact gun using the battery pack size that tool user and have it last for more than a couple of minutes. The voltage actually provided by the battery pack is a little under 20V so that is the real voltage. You can use voltage multiplying in the tool to achieve a higher voltage for the motor but that doesn’t change the fact that the battery pack is a 20V, or under, supply. You should understand that there is virtually no “truth in advertising” legislation in Thailand or China. So you can virtually guarantee that if it looks too good to be true, it is a lie, or at best twisting the truth so much it could be a claim by the orange buffoon.
  23. Also the Ah rating is totally fake. I have 3 Makita batteries, 2 genuine 3Ah and 1 fake claiming 6Ah. They are all the same size an weight so the fakeness of the 6Ah claim is easy to see
  24. The Elite visa is a tourist visa it is not a NON-IMMIGRANT VISA. As such if a DLT official is following the DLT rules you can only qualify for a 2 year temporary license. However This Is Thailand and as such many, if not all, rules are subject to variations. Often variations are subject to influence by status of the applicant, qualities of pretty pieces of paper, the mood of the official/boss. But such influences maybe subsequently cancelled to the detriment of the influencee.
  25. You have been given poor information, to say the least. Wood is a reasonable material but it needs several coats of Chandrite to deter the termites, this is something that you’re not going to get if you’re buying pre-made units. While you can certainly get bottom cabinets made from concrete blocks, though AAC is probably a better option, for ease of construction and tiling you probably have to accept the Thai flush front without a toe kick. It is possible to build in a toe kick but it’s rather a challenge to persuade Thai workers to build them. For upper cabinets I recommend doing as I do and hanging them from French cleats, if you do that it is a trivial job to replace them, should you need to. As to “you can’t use xxx doors with concrete cabinets” that is again total BS. It may well be a little more difficult but certainly not impossible. With regard to plastic material for the doors you can get Plaswood panels but the problem will be finishing the edges as the core is not dense, potentially you could use iron on edge banding though I don’t know that it sticks well or if the heat for the glue will deform the board. That is one test I haven’t needed to do.
