Suzuki to Halt Car Production in Thailand by End of Next Year
JonnyF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am sure the Thai way of doing "deals" is more closely aligned to the Chinese than the Japanese. -
Jury Deliberations Begin in Hunter Biden's High-Profile Gun Case
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'd hazard a guess my level of education would stack up fairly well against yours. Let's wait and see if a) he is convicted and b) lefties claim that Hunter's conviction proves Trump's convictions were fair. -
Thai Prime Minister Calls Off Controversial 300-Baht Tourism Fee
JonnyF replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Seems weird to me that they would abandon it for no good reason. They did it before so they must know how to implement it. 10 Billion Baht income for essentially providing nothing. I would have thought the opportunities for graft were endless. My guess is that someone in a high position decided it was a bad look. Or maybe they couldn't agree how to divide it up between the various troughs. I guess we'll never know. -

Could have done. Out of interest, why do you think they opted against it? -
Thai Prime Minister Calls Off Controversial 300-Baht Tourism Fee
JonnyF replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes I agree. I was posting from their perspective. I am of the opinion that the tax proposal for foreign earned income not remitted to Thailand is a ridiculous idea that could never be implemented. If they did implement it, it would cause tremendous damage and therefore it will be shelved. The 300 Baht charge would have no effect if they could sneak it into the airfare without anyone noticing. If they had to collect it at the airport like they used to, it could cause ill feeling and negative publicity, hence them abandoning it. -
The Surge of Islamist Violence: Why the West Remains Silent
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There were very few better places in the world to live until 20-30 years ago. Then liberal immigration policies led to dilution of the culture and multiple social problems. It's still better than large parts of Asia, South America, Africa, Russia etc. but 20 more years of the EU and left wing "progressive" policies and you might have a point. -

Yes, that must be why all the "refugees" are fleeing from war torn countries to live there. -
Pro-Palestine Mobs Wreck Barclays Banks Across the UK

I hope you're not in the UK right now, you might get a knock at the door for that type of Wrongspeak. 😃 -

Agree. However, it depends on what they are demonstrating against. They're quick enough to "uphold the law" against Pro Israel or Pro Britain demonstrators. Scream Jihad and they'll redefine the meaning so as not to have to arrest you. -

Liberals. I can't say I blame them. -

A particularly weak attempt to try to justify the actions of law breaking, often violent, leftist protestors and place the blame elsewhere. -
What Trump Could Do About Vaccines: More Than You Might Think
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Great to see someone supporting bodily autonomy. Of course this upsets the leftists who want big state to control what we put into our bodies, what words we can use etc. -

In the Socialist Republic of Bristol at least, it was more likely Penelope and Theodore from the local 50k per year private school. They'll be superglueing themselves to the roads tomorrow for Just Stop Oil, as the police protect them from angry motorists trying to get to work/hospital etc. -

JonnyF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They probably don't want to compete with the flooding of the Thai market with cheap Chinese electric vehicles. Once the Chinese have removed the Japanese car manufacturers from Thailand, they'll have a monopoly which I'm sure they won't exploit. 😃- 38 replies

Thai Prime Minister Calls Off Controversial 300-Baht Tourism Fee
JonnyF replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They're probably thinking they don't need this 300 Baht chump change, once they start charging tax residents on money made overseas even when not remitted to Thailand 😃. -
Jury Deliberations Begin in Hunter Biden's High-Profile Gun Case
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
He'll be found guilty. That way, the Democrats can scream, "See, the 32 convictions for our biggest political rival and leading presidential candidate was totally fair". 😃 It's not even subtle. Hunter probably signed it off, on the condition he doesn't do jail time of course.- 93 replies
