Example: New enforced helmet law......2k THB TOO FUNNY!!! I still continue to witness many riding without helmets. While driving across town I count how many helmetless drivers/riders I see.... I easily reach 100 with only going 1km or 2km around the town. And to top it off just a few hours ago when I went out I witnessed a ranking police officer on a scooter without a helmet! I saw one scooter (which is occasionally seen) with 5 wearing no helmets..... That one scooter alone would be 10k THB revenue....

If you recall the data from a prior article it said that 14 pedestrians are killed daily in Thailand. I imagine not all are the fault of a driver as I've witnessed some pretty crazy people walking/crossing the roads stupidly. A lot of articles and remarks are about zebra crossings, what about the pedestrian walkways in front of stores like Lotus, Big C, and Makro? How often do you see vehicles give the right-of-way to those going in/out of the stores? Do you stop for them? I do....... until I see that the pedestrian waiting to cross isn't paying one bit of attention.

2025 SSA Form 7162 - "Hello, are you dead yet?" forms.
dingdongrb replied to connda's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
You seem to think that every US expat living in Thailand read and post to this forum..... Might as well say DOGE is the cause. You apparently forgot what you posted: "I've opened this thread to discuss issues regarding the SSA Form 7162 forms here in 2025." I guess you should have said: 'I've opened this thread so that folks can post when they receive their form, nothing more.' -

Did you even read the posts in those threads? Did you see the dates of those threads? Do you actually know when DOGE was created? Do you always need your hand held and have obvious things explained to you? In one of the links there's posts saying that the form was received anywhere between early June and almost mid July...... that was all posted well before DOGE. Like I said, take your political rants elsewhere. If folks are that concerned this early then I suggest pinging the FBU. -

Are you not able to read what was stated as the process? Have you not read any of the posts made in the 3 links that bamnutsak provided? (Thx bamnutsak) -

They really need to make the process happen electronically...... I mean, who uses 'snail mail' these days? -

What's so premature about asking the FBU what the process is? Seems posters on here are the ones being premature about it. The FBU at the Manilla Embassy is there to support us folks living in Thailand about our SS needs. They have been helpful to me on different occasions. But, we all know that they are slow in responding and difficult to contact....... (I have suggested before how we can try and make that better.) -

Then perhaps everyone should be bombarding the FBU with inquiries. If everyone would do that instead of guessing or spewing BS (false) info then perhaps the FBU will get a hint. -

For Christ's sake didn't anyone read my post about the reply I received from the FBU (Manila Embassy)? If anything contact the FBU and see for yourself what they say. AN is nothing but a bunch of whinners and folks making assumptions rather than posting facts these days! -
Some damn good chocolate. I make my own and vary the cocoa percentage as well as things I like to coat; nuts, peanut butter, marshmallows, etc... I recently ordered a chocolate fountain to entertain myself with.... 🙃

Breaking down the 90-day report rule
dingdongrb replied to Issa Compass's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would be interested to hear what you think those docs are. I say this as it's been different for me having done so at different IOs. NOTE: I've relocated multiple times over the years since I last entered Thailand and there's no way my most recent TM30 matches my entry date into the country. (Or am I not understanding what you mean?) The video plays for me but not smoothly. I prefer YouTube over TikTok for informational videos.... -
....and yet there appears to have been yet another shooting recently in Nan. From Facebook posts it appears a drunken man has shot and killed his brother.

Some info is starting to show up on Facebook but with few details.

2025 SSA Form 7162 - "Hello, are you dead yet?" forms.
dingdongrb replied to connda's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Nothing for me yet but I won't panic until November rolls around and I have yet to receive anything. I wonder why a few countries are only required every 2 years and all others every year? Do people die less frequently in those countries? -
Can anyone provide any info or links regarding the shooting that occurred earlier today in Nan city? TIA..... NOTE: With reasonable effort I found nothing using Google or looking on Facebook.

Report Debate Erupts Over Police Chase in Helmet Incident in Bangkok
dingdongrb replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
While in Taiwan years ago on a business trip and riding in a company van I witnessed a police checkpoint where a scooter driver tried to avoid by driving around it. I was shocked when I saw one of the officers at the checkpoint grab the back of the driver's jacket and literally yanked him off the scooter and onto the ground. As our van was slowly passing through the checkpoint I saw about four officers grab the guy, cuff him, and started taking him to a nearby patrol truck. That was one of my first visits to Taiwan and a business acquaintance there told me that the police took their checkpoints seriously. -

I emailed the FBU last week and recently received the reply below. The reply is slightly different than what I remember reading on the Manila Embassy' website Q&A section: Thank you for contacting the Social Security Administration's Federal Benefits Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Manila. The Annual Report Form SSA-7162 is sent from Wilkes-Barre, PA and must be completed by all beneficiaries according to the schedule below. If a beneficiary has a representative payee, Form SSA-7161 will be sent to the representative payee for completion. Beneficiaries with addresses in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, and APO/FPO/DPO receive the form every two years. Beneficiaries in countries not mentioned above receive the form every year. The form is mailed to beneficiaries in May/June and a follow-up letter is mailed in September/October. If the completed form is not received by the end of the year, benefits are suspended beginning with the February payment of the following year. To avoid the suspension of your benefits, please complete the form as soon as you receive it and send it back via regular postal mail using the enclosed business reply envelope. You do not have to send the form via courier service; however, if you wish to do so, you may use the following address for courier service: Social Security Administration Wilkes-Barre Direct Operations Center (WBDOC) Attention: FEQ Analyst – Courier Service 1150 E. Mountain Dr. Room 341 Wilkes Barre, PA 18702XXX7997 U.S.A. Do not submit the completed form to the Federal Benefits Unit in Manila or to a U.S. Embassy/Consulate. -

Yeah, the schools in the USA do it for school shootings not war conflicts from other countries. -
