    rescue services reported many people trapped in lifts following the tremor. Lifts have a fail safe system that operates when an earthquake is happening.

    A building nearby experienced falling debris and many condo building have been cordoned off.

    Just returned from Thong Lor which experienced a fairly high earthquake tremor that was so intense the crane on the building site nearby was swaying some 4-5 minutes still after the quake. Emergency services were dispatched to multiple High Rise condo's on Sukhumvit and Soi Thong Lor. Thousands of people lined the streets and are still present as every building was evacuated.

    I think you are stupid to think of a trip to Lopburi, you are stupid to feed those aggressive monkeys thinking it's ok to do. WTH wouldn't you just spend 2,000 baht and head to Bang Sean or Pattaya or the beach nearby for 3 night then 2 nights somewhere else not to far away. some folks just ask for trouble.

    OP .... this is good advice. Some will care and give a card, and enjoy receiving a card, others won't and don't care to think about birthdays or any special days, it's just some Thai's are different from others. I wouldn't push the romantic thought of it onto her as it may cause friction, just let it go and how ever she feels best, she'll enjoy that more than being pressured.

    You know Thailand and you know how Thais play the game. I absolutely agree with everything you said. Folks here live in their nice condo in tourist-ville and get their daily fake thai smile at the shop and it warms their insides. Take the tinted glasses off and experience the real thais upcountry in remote villages and you'll soon see how friendly they really are.

    oh dear Georgealbert, I find these bus fire stories a little distressing to read, I guess it's because of the horrible tragic story we witnessed before of the kindergarden kids. It is good that all these primary school students and teachers exited the bus quickly & safely, sad it couldn't of been like that before. The driver pulled the bus up quickly and opened the doors which avoided any casualties. Good job by the driver.

    and that's great, he's found it so safe. Well, I can tell you if you live upcountry in a village surrounded by locals and you have any disagreement or argument or problem with someone, you won't find it very safe then I can tell you.
