So, 13% infected and most would never have known about it without a test.
No, I'm not an anti, I've had my first dose and am waiting for my second. I do think that it isn't the plague it's made out to be though.
Closing the world for this has been a mistake and, IMO, the only reason that continues is that the politicians have talked themselves into a corner they can't back out of.

I don't see how it can work, Phuket is easy, you get in by a couple of bridges, air, or boat. Pattaya has a couple of main roads and a s**tload of small ones. OK, they could control all of them if the police did their jobs. What's the chances of that?

Why have they only locked down 3 local villages ? They should do it for at least a 50 klm radius. People do travel !
For the money they're paid, they have to live locally, travelling costs too much.

I brush teeth, cook rice, pasta, potatoes, all in tap water. So eggs, yes.

Everything is closed, but still there.
Yes, a lot of businesses are gone forever, some faces will not be seen again. Some will be missed, some not.
But the buildings are still there, a good clean, maybe a lick of paint, some new chairs and they can open. a couple of days to do that, dunno how long the licences take though.
Staff are easy, once the word hits the "source" that the tourists are back, the buses will be full of girls who need money and don't want to do 12 hour shifts in a factory to get it.Walking Street, for me, good riddance. But. It's a huge attraction, either to "indulge", or as a zoo for the looky-looky's. Either way, it brings money in.
Casino's. IMO a mistake, for some reason Thais don't seem to be able to control their gambling. I'm a bit the same, so I just won't go in one. The opposition came from the very top but the new man there doesn't have the same opinions as the last, so I think this will happen.
Pattaya is simply too big a money maker for Thailand to leave closed.
All this of course can't happen without a vaccinated population, all the countries that are coming out of this pandemic have vaccinated big time, there doesn't seem to be any other way out of this.
Or I could be wrong, time will tell. ????

Will 1,000,000 rich Chinese come here to buy condos?
If this scheme allows them to actually OWN the land, I wouldn't put it past the Chinese government to sponsor them to do just that.

For once the bar owners aren't complaining about losing a couple of days business. ????
I shouldn't laugh, but laughs are few and far between these days.

The Kasikorn I use gives 30 notes, so it's normally 30,000. If it runs out, it's 15,000 in 500's. I don't know if it stocks 100's, I've never asked it for them.

But he is leaving in a week or so and will apply for a non-o visa at a embassy. Read the OP again.
What i don't understand is why he doesn't get his visa here before leaving, where it's simpler. Ah well, up to him. ????

Where's your sources and attribution links? You don't have any. I do.
"Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) studies have been conducted to understand and characterize the relative risk of SARS-CoV-2 fomite transmission and evaluate the need for and effectiveness of prevention measures to reduce risk. Findings of these studies suggest that the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection via the fomite transmission route is low, and generally less than 1 in 10,000, which means that each contact with a contaminated surface has less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of causing an infection"

Thanks for that.
So, 1/10,000 per contact. 2 hands, that's 2 contacts, adjust your grip a couple of times, that's 6, bodies are heavy, so it'll likely touch your torso a couple of times, that's 8. The same to get it out of the ambulance, that's 16. Or 16/10,000 = 1/625 mimimum, for a single body, handled well. 6 bodies in a day, that's about 1/100. Multiply that for poor handling techniques - and I've seen a LIVE person slung in like a piece of meat after a bike accident. See where I'm going here?

Covid can be caught from surfaces, that's why there is so much disinfecting going on. Bodies have surfaces. The clothes they're wearing have surfaces. So, covid can be caught from bodies.

Because a non-o visa based upon retirement applied for at a embassy or official consulate requires the 40/400k medical insurance.
But he's in Thailand right now.

Why not get your Non-O before you leave? Should be simpler.

Have I missed something? I thought we could still buy beer for drinking at home?

Look around the world, all the countries that are coming out of this have high vaccine rates. That's enough evidence for me.

Well, restaurants in malls are about my last choice. Too much delicious Thai food available locally. Farrang food I can cook myself.

Charges against Red Bull "Boss" have not been dropped - old news says OAG spokesman

We think of this as third world, but it isn't.
Google "Anne Sacoolas", a US citizen, who killed a British lad in a car accident, she was questioned and released to return the next day for more questions. She then fled back to the US and they refuse to extradite her to face charges. Even at the highest level of government, they refuse to return her. She's only charged with causing death by dangerous driving, so even if found guilty, she might not even do time.
But she ran, and is now driving happily in the US. Hopefully she won't kill any more kids there.
When this is the sort of example we - who are supposed to have honest judicial systems - set, why are we surprised when third world countries follow it.
