Extra-long weekend in Thailand: here’s what you need to know
mokwit replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Public hospitals closed Monday 31st and Tuesday? -
I think Swedish criminals would probably be disappointed by the standards of the facility.

5 litre water container, but access to the one water spigot is apparently controlled by Iranian gangsters.

Remember, IMM requirements are very specific and they are very pedantic. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjmvK_eoLOAAxWwyTgGHbstCmkQFnoECBMQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww2.si.mahidol.ac.th%2Fen%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2019%2F09%2F2019-VISA-EXTENSION-FOR-MEDICAL-CASE-revised.pdf&usg=AOvVaw02wuEFxViou0koQqcVKhup&opi=89978449 Try sorting that out from your sick bed. Someone I knew went onto overstay at a "top" [read "expensive"] private hospital. they offered the service of doing medical visas for patients but somehow messed his up.

What if you are at home and too sick but not obviously incapacitated and don't have all the Doctors paperwork they require?. Don't be too sure you won't end up in IDC If the Imm. Doctor doesn't think you are a hospital case. They recently arrested a 76 year old man for being on overstay. Is he being held in a 3 star hotel while his deportation goes through? Once you break the law you are no longer a welcome G7 high value tourist but a criminal in their judicial system.

Abut 20 years ago I did my 90 day report at Suan Phluu a day late. They sent me to the IDC to pay a Bt2,000 fine. The IO at the next desk was fiddling with a set of leg irons [two U's on a rod type] that seemed to need fixing. I was a Professional on a priority visa and was a day late because I was working so hard promoting investing in Thailand, i forgot. I imagine many expat professionals subjected to that would have called their wife and told her to get the kids out of school and meet at the airport, we're leaving. I have to go back home for end of life care as one of the risks is being too sick to do my extension and going onto overstay and Imm coming to get me - I may end up in IDC when I should be in hospital.

My landlord will not complete TM30!! What do I do?
mokwit replied to Liz E's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can't extend outside Thailand but you could get new e.g. OA or O Multi and thus never have to go to Imm and thus never be asked for TM30. Surprised you have not been asked in the last few years when extending retirement, I thought Jomtien was "canal without the c" about TM30 if doing yourself. I never did a TM30 until the clampdown a few years ago and it was only last year when they further clamped down that I was asked for hard copy (at CW) for the first time. Since the new clampdown it is best to assume that you won't be able to do anything at Imm without a TM30 filed than to assume you won't be asked. -

You omitted to mention which Imm office/Province. or if you are extending in country. -
It's always been like this (which is what you are really saying, no?) - usually 2 months seen as non returnable "key money " despite being clearly defined as a deposit in the lease.". A friend took a deposit keeping Landlady to court and the decision was to split the two months being kept down the middle. One month asked is a good sign, three months asked, run don't walk. If no price on an ad you will likely be asked "how much you give me?" when asking what the price is. Again, run don't walk, don't have anything to do with "how much you give me?" types. Decent, fair, honest local Landlords exist, but seem to be an extreme minority, so you have to assume the opposite.

unusual circumstances to the point where saying you have never done an address report is pointless. -

BOI/Chamsiri Sq don't refuse extensions if no TM30 filed because the extension is for the benefit of Thailand/Thai company. Retirees on the other hand are fair game. -

TM30 non filing by a Landlord should not be a reason to refuse an extension. It should be nothing to do with us. They pushed the responsibility for getting it done onto us, rather then it being Imm's responsibility to see that Landlords complied with the law and filed TM30. -

This is the problem with TM30 - it requires landlord cooperation and adds a layer of complexity. If you change apartments you need to tell the new Landlord that he must have the required TM30 docs for handover at lease signing or there will be no lease signing. Meanwhile you have given notice on your old apartment and despite reassurances the prospective Landlord tells you at the signing meet that he hasn't got the docs you asked for as the are "not necessary/private" etc. Hypothetical case: Your landlord dies the day before you were planning to to do your extension and the transfer to whoever on his death is not done before your expiry date [a legally questionable workaround would be to have the internet capability set up in advance with you filing the TM30 online]. They really thought this one through, both at origination and on recent enforcement - maybe thought it was like on an army base in 1979 - just use some of your free time to stroll over to the Admin office on the base and get any paperwork done. -

Not filing TM30 or registered address is upcountry but they live in Pattaya? Visa/WP revoked for that? -
If you had workmen 'round and that was the only problem they left you with, you got off lightly. They usually leave you with a problem you didn't have previously, often without fixing the original problem.

...or was he appointed to oversee the large contract the IB had for procurement of fingerprint technology to make sure there was no corruption - moved after that job done? Disclosure: not new here, can be tongue in cheek sometimes. Seems there is a clampdown on agent business right now and while face value that appears to be an attempt to stop it, there could be other reasons.
-
Surely impossible since "Chok" himself introduced the need to keep 400k year 'round to stop this? Surely it can't be that we have all been forced to keep 400k in the bank but same day 800k business is going on as usual? If that is the case then those who couldn't stump up the 400k were probably forced to use agents............ You may be right, that may well be what he is referring to. It seems "the system" is currently very reluctant to offer facilitated visa processing without further supporting details. Some say they are getting extensions with same day 800k as always, others say it has stopped. I think the recent fixation on TM30 was to identify agents shared address for multiple applicants. Seems business is going on but an inactive post awaits any that sign off on Triads, hence the greater caution and requirements.

I don't have a criminal record so I have nothing to hide, but if it transpires I have to make a trip back to home country ahead of visa extension on certain dates, I won't welcome that inconvenience from further changing of the deal. All those wishing for tighter visa regulations, be careful what you wish for - the rising tide might reach you. You may think as one of the self styled "good" Falangs you will always be OK, but at the very least you may have to file further documents a extension time.
