In my condo you just needed a forged keycard and your underpants. A group of four took over the pool every morning from 8-9.30 - for some reason the Thai women who used to swim at that time stopped. I think the group that is doing the subletting to their countrymen maybe told ST renters not to use the pool as it was creating a lot of friction - not seeing them so much, but that might be time of year. Their renters tended to go crazy for the pool as in their country a pool of clean water that big would probably have people hundreds deep around it trying to fill cooking pots.

Thailand eases visa rules to attract long-term visitors

Colombian burglary gangs and Peruvian pick pocket gangs are licking their chops. No, I am not saying all Colombian and Peruvians are like this, but those sub sectors are very real. -

Nice to hear after 9 years of being viewed as a criminal because I stay here year 'round. -
Read some of the posts on this board where people are suffering from pool villas being let out as party houses - if they are making noise what they do while at the villa becomes other people's business- I think groups of Chinese renting for parties are much more common that groups of professionals from Bangkok.

Missed safety: Jamming fire escape doors open to give access to the lifts from the street, bits of cardboard wedged or lock plates removed to keep them discretely open on other floors - allows going between floors without being on CCTV in the lifts. Using fire escapes as storage areas for merchandise. In fairness my condo has made some progress on these things, but the following on problem is difficult without dedicated security personnel or facial recognition. To me it is an infestation of vermin and should be treated as such. We fumigate the basement to stop brown rats getting a foothold.

Security: A hotel that size has plainclothes security prowling around for people there for the wrong reasons/doing things they shouldn't. We have people living in our condo who don't liver here - we have no idea who they are i.e. no passport copy at reception, they don't have key cards and come and go via the fire escapes and following behind people at the keycard security doors - they have it down to a fine art, standing there just outside reception looking at their phones until someone goes through and then quickly following on, rather than standing/sitting in reception looking at their phones but looking a bit obvious. Hygiene: Constant exposure to other countries diseases in the lifts and common areas.

Blackchin Tilapia Invasion Threatens Southeast Asia's Ecosystems

I don't think Darwin really took into account species from another continent thousands of miles away being artificially introduced into an ecosystem that had not evolved with their presence. -

Australian Father Seeks Help to Find Missing Son in Phuket

'Forced on us' I am talking about enforcement. Nowhere did I say they passed a new law. They weren't enforcing it with householders/landlords/aliens. We are talking about them enforcing the 1979 law*. There apparently wasn't even a desk that dealt with TM30 at CW. I had one year work visas and then retirement extensions and for years was never asked for a TM30. Around the mid 2000's they started getting strict with hotels and then when Airbnb became a thing they realised they were missing many people who were not staying in hotels. *apparently the reason for the law was concerns of Vietnamese incursion (from occupied Cambodia) - there were a number of incidents where Vietnamese troops took up positions in Thai territory and presumably there was a fear they would try and build up irregular forces. Understandably it was felt that TM30 was no longer necessary -

No, but I can also do the same, like when you claimed it was possible to get a customs refund just by phoning the hotline, yeah right. If you want to be an unpleasant pompous wannabe know it all, you must expect to get it back. If you don't believe that is the reason then you don't know how sensitive Thailand is to negative publicity in foreign media - especially tourism related - he also stated that not being able to locate people when requested by foreign police forces was another reason. The stated reason of course is "Transnational criminals"* - I think he he kinda let slip something he shouldn't have. So if what I have stated is "cobblers", you must have an opinion on what is the "real reason", so what is it? Lets let the board decide. * the temple bells affair was used as the reason to start enforcing it - insinuating foreigners had brought this on themselves -
As I said before, suspect the same deal as the recently busted Russian was offering. Not genuine but will pass muster in most circumstances.

Thanks for nothing. It is because of these kind of "not posted on FB" that we had the TM30 forced on us. Seems it didn't do much to locate this person - perhaps Imm should focus on condo owners and hotels not filing rather than just people extending at an Imm office. -
I think that is a matter of opinion, especially if you are an Afghan. To me it didn't look much different from the Vietnam debacle, only they secured an airport rather than an embassy compound. The amount of equipment left behind belies that this was a great achievement, they just secured an airport at a cost of 13 US lives and then flew themselves out, leaving many Afghans who would be seen by the Taliban as collaborators to their fate. People here really need to lay off the propaganda, it damages your brain.
