  1. A "visitor" means someone who comes and then goes. Not sure how correct that term is here.
  2. Probably means "Singaporean" as in not born a Singaporean National, but is now via purchased citizenship/passport.
  3. Cambodia and Vanuatu for sure offer passports for sale but it is considerable more and considerable longer - Cambodia payment of USD250k if I remember rightly. Some of the Chinese busted in Singapore for money laundering were passport holders of these countries. These seem the same deal as that Russian who was busted was offering. Maybe for Chinese who can't renew their passport with the Embassy or who need a new name/nationality. Will pass muster for living here with banks etc or even stopped in the street. Meanwhile in the national police chief has ordered the Immigration Bureau to check on visitors and foreign residents and enforce immigration regulations. That's all we need, thanks Chinese.
  4. Tell us more about this (am serious). I'm all for solutions.
  5. Can't clean behind under e.g. the kitchen units. I used to spray very heavily as I left the apartment to go to the beach, not sure it made any difference.
  6. They arrive from eggs in your condo or someone else's condo or eggs laid in some common area. Once they are in a building they are in for good. All not brand new seem to have them. If you have a squeamish girlfriend you have to move into new condos and then move out to another new one once the condo has been infiltrated.
  7. Not really, the condo next to me was empty and had no end of cockroaches. Enough to sustain them doesn't have to be visible to us or come from us. I see them in the bathroom all the time and am careful about toothpaste spills as they can eat that for the sweetener.
  8. I also found the Bayer gel worked great the first time but seemingly not well after. I use a combination of Baygon roach poison 6 to a green box from Tops and the sticky roach house traps which basically catch enough that you don't feel infested. You will never eliminate them because by the time you see them they have already laid eggs, so it seems you have controlled them and then a fresh batch of eggs hatches - if not in your condo then in someone else's.
  9. There wasn't, Anutin, the last Govt Health Minister mandated a tier of charges for foreigners at Govt hospitals.
  10. 'fraid there is, I pay Bt250 not 50 for a doctors visit and in quoting me a price for a procedure a Doctor explained that is the Thai price, I don't know how much more the foreigner price is. This was brought in for Govt hospitals by the last Health minister, Anutin.
  11. I think they will do what they are doing in HK with adjacent sovereign states - just flood them with mainlanders until they are effectively mainland.
  12. Coming back to this, I'm serious, someone funded a $10k emergency operation in Colombia from a Gofundme and was literally drifting in and out of consciousness. Don't be shy, Yoga teachers use it to buy a new air ticket home.
  13. No discount at selected spas with retirement option.
  14. I had been asked for my passport previously - I had to register before they would see me and someone came to the ward prior to surgery and asked to see it. I had my passport, it was when I went to pay that they asked to hold it while I went to another room to see "Social Services".
  15. Surprised there was no interview with a Triad member extolling the virtues of the new 60 day limit, or are they all on Privilege visas?
  16. Used to for me, then with the upgrade it got rejected. Anybody else who thinks I am "whinging" please say so, as I think someone has some kind of internal problem. seriously, keep the Regimental Sergeant Major stuff where it belongs, on an army base.
  17. Regular admissions, absolutely, but i was admitted in an emergency at a Govt hospital without either. They did ask me how I would pay, and I told them the issue was not paying the bill per se, I was sure I could cover that, it was a matter of how much i could pay with the card I had on me - I mentioned 100k and told them if they accepted Amex I had a limit that would almost certainly cover the cost.
  18. You always had to officially, being able to convert to a NON Imm in country was a fairly recent concession - I got TR converted to a Non B in country in 1995 when it was supposedly impossible. An agent said: "I'd like to know how that got done"
  19. Thailand is special. Tourists will be "flocking" to Thailand once they discover they can experience 60 days of "Thainess".
  20. I had an experience in a Govt hospital where the bill was more than I had in the account with a card they would accept. The cashier took my passport and sent me to "Social Services". Here they asked about my address and arranged for me to pay in installments after signing documents that the hospital claim was senior to any other claim in my will eytc. I had paid 100k of a 140k bill with the card and with the paperwork I went back to cashier and got my passport back and left the hospital. In my case it was just one installment as the money was no problem, I just had to transfer funds into Thailand and when i told them that they asked if pay all next month was OK and I confirmed it was.
  21. Not only do you have to travel, but you will also need a reentry permit. Still have to do a TM30 and they might inquire as to the other 3 missing 90 day reports. Seems anybody making a point is a whinger to you. Perhaps this board is not for you - maybe Hello magazine has a forum where you might feel more comfortable.
  22. Not sure how he could have been waiting for a work permit that never arrived on a VE - to make the application you would need a Non B/Non O marriage - never applied rather than never arrived is more likely. It could be he means a 90 day non O, but that is applied for at a consul in another country, not border from bounces and is not 30 days.
