  1. SCB now requires a TIn (tax ID). People claiming they opened a bank account on a tourist visa/VE probably didn't do it recently. The banks have tightened up due to anti money laundering directives from the BoT, but having opened the account on a tourist visa in the Lanna period they assume that can still be done.
  2. Again it doesn't, I am talking about the actual enforcement of the law. If you stay at a hotel or Landlord that reports, a TM30 will be filed for you. The FACT is that a large number of Landlords are NOT filing and therefore unless a DTV does an in country extension, if he stays in a rental where the Landlord doesn't file he is not registered with Imm. This is my point. Immigration have made such a big thing about TM30 filing but masses of people will be staying here long term without being registered. It is the same for people on Non Imm Multiple entry, they can stay under the radar.
  3. It doesn't as far as I know. That is not the point I am making. Read my post: 'current enforcement', 'under the radar'. What I am saying is that unless they change the enforcement of TM30 which is currently only enforced with people going into Immigration offices for something, DTV holders will be able to fly under the radar and not file without any consequences.
  4. See Mike Teaveee post above yours.
  5. Now is not the time to come off a retirement or marriage extension as changes have been indicated for September. You want to be on it in the hope of being grandfathered against any stricter requirements. Grandfathering required CONTINUOUS extensions, break that and you are a new applicant for Grandfathering criteria.
  6. It still requires the same authorisation criteria as a regular bank acaccount. You could transfer USD in and without converting it to baht try and send it out, but you would still have to meet the criteria for foreign transfer.
  7. Nope, it is 180 days in Thailand in a calendar year. Doesn't matter if you left before 180 and then come back in. It is likely however that you will be able to stay under their radar.
  8. I think you get a discount at some Spas too.
  9. I'm saying how and where will they enforce TM30 and 90 day. They enforce it currently when people go for an extension, whether 1 year or 30 day VE, but not at borders entering and leaving so DTV people fall through the TM30/47 reporting enforcement under current enforcement - can stay 5 years and Immigration will never know where they are. Immigration enforce TM30/47 on US like it is important, but hardly enforce it on Landlords.
  10. If you don't extend DTV in country and just do border runs for a new 180 you would never under current enforcement have to do a TM30* or TM47 whilst living here for 5 years. So, those of us on extensions have to deal with "retentive" address confirmations via TM30 and 90 day reports, while the DTV people fly under the radar and Immigration may not know where they are. In an interview a senior IO said that the reason for TM30 enforcement was that it was embarrassing when they could not find people when requested by foreign police forces or when a tourist hadn't posted on Facebook for 48 hours [and for some reason people back home assumed they had been murdered]. *Landlord might file TM30.
  11. I have been here since the Lanna Period and was never asked to file a TM30, it was only in the late Sukothai period that they started demanding them.
  12. Anyone know what the current rate for an agent to file TM47 (90 day report) at CW is? - getting silly money quotes from a couple I asked in lower sukhumvit. They claimed very little of it went to them and some other entity got the lions share.
  13. especially if they are sub letting (so no TM30 docs).
  14. Yet he still requires the landlords ID and housebook for the rental property and for where he resides to file a TM30. Just a lease doesn't cut it.
  15. So now we have do first 90 day report in person and file new TM30 when returning from abroad. This is just so "retentive". Meanwhile people on the new 5yr/160 day visa who don't extend in country will never file a TM30* or TM47 whilst staying here for 5 years. In an interview a senior IO said that the reason for TM30 enforcement was that it was embarrassing when they could not find people when requested by foreign police forces or when a tourist hadn't posted on Facebook for 48 hours and for some reason people back home assumed they had been murdered. It is LANDLORDS they should be enforcing TM30 with, not people with stable year on year addresses.
  16. Not if as part of the sale agreement you agreed not to report lost until a certain date or they alter it as is often the case (takes forgers skill).
  17. If you know someone who writes good Thai, this is a case for a "Concerned Thai Citizen" letter to the RD.
  18. After reporting it lost and "many times"? Maybe Germany is different, but it is no end of checks and waiting with UK (apparently) - I also suspect if you claimed to have lost a passport many times they would refuse to issue a new one at some point on the assumption you were selling them.
  19. It probably will when they see the outcome. The whole of Thailand will become like The Lower Sukhumvit Free Trade Zone/Phuket.
  20. If you are the houseowner or your Landlord is cooperative. People have had to move apartment due to refusal to file by Landlord. This whole thing of making us responsible for a Landlord not fling and refusing an extension if they don't is very "provincial".
  21. Traipse all the way to the Post office to pay paltry VAT. I wasted a whole morning paying Bt100 VAT on a package they opened and found to be correctly labeled as non dutiable item. Pure spite
  22. Fine us Bt1,600 because a landlord didn't file TM30, but fine only Bt 600 for Thai landlords at CW it seems. Meanwhile people on the new 5yr/160 day visa who don't extend in country will never file a TM30* or TM47 whilst staying here for 5 years. *landlord could, but many don't want to.
  23. The advice on losing passports is DON'T, there is no end of trouble with a lost passport. A DAMAGED but readable passport is less hassle. There was a situation a long time ago where (apparently) an embassy was advising people who suddenly needed a new passport to leave their passport in their jeans pocket when washing them.
  24. The "Ladies" of the Biergarten used to refer to guys in their '50's as Puu Yai Baan - in slang, old guys who sit around all day talking. They said guys in their '50's hardly ever took a lady.
  25. No, it is not obvious, it should not be made their RESPOSIBILITY to intervene. Drunks may not respond to what was taught in the 'safety' training. There is a force called the Police that has that responsibility. It is their job to call them. I am not saying they can't intervene, I am saying they should not be made to feel it is their responsibility to intervene. Perhaps you have no experience of how psychotic some people can become when drunk. Pattaya bars employ several adult men to handle security and deal with drunks.
