I know some of you still have nightmares about 2016 thinking it can happen again. I don't worry even a little bit. 2020 is a much better predictor. Trump has shown who he is and moderates/independents won't go near him. Aside from his criminal investigations, Trump has the abortion problem to deal with which is a huge issue for women. And I do believe the GOP primary will get ugly with mudslinging coming from every direction. Trump will not survive unscathed....assuming he manages to pull it off.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted across parts of Thailand
Berkshire replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not sure what you're on about. The word "forecasted" is an actual word and can be used in the context of this thread title.....perfectly acceptable. -
Not nearly the same. Some Dems are concerned about Joe Biden's health and whether he can handle the rigors of the job. Reps are only concerned about whether Trump has a chance to win. DeSantis isn't the only one in the GOP who believes Trump is toxic in a general election. But hey, I hope you're right and that Trump becomes the GOP nominee.

Fear? LOL I don't think you have a very good handle on what's going on in your own party. The de facto front-runner for the GOP is D. Trump. Yet, members of his own party don't think he has a chance. Even Ron DeSantis thinks Joe Biden has a better chance of winning than Trump.... [Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) told a call of donors and supporters on Thursday afternoon he is one of three “credible” candidates for president in 2024 and declared that of those three only he and Joe Biden can actually win, arguing that Donald Trump is a certain loser.] https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/desantis-pans-trump-as-unelectable-in-call-to-donors-swing-state-numbers-are-insurmountable/ar-AA1bn8mg?ocid=wispr&cvid=ec00710066ba40cc9955826491f4fc4f&ei=46

Thai baht soars as voters back pro-democracy parties

If the THB soars, it means other currencies would be taking a dive. -
Thai baht soars as voters back pro-democracy parties

The US has issues, not the least of which is the debt ceiling debacle. If America were to default....don't even want to think about it. -
United States could run out of money to pay the bills !

The list is much longer than that. I will say that there is rampant fraud in the system, e.g., medicare/medicaid, COVID relief...almost any large government program will have waste, fraud, and abuse. Perhaps the biggest is DOD. Not individual service people, but defense contractors and the like. We can reduce the military budget by $100 billion and have minimal impact to readiness. -
There were some rather unsavory allegations coming out of this lawsuit. For instance..... [She then states that Mr Giuliani asked her “if she knew anyone in need of a pardon” because he was “selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split”.] Of course, could just be Rudy being Rudy. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/rudy-giuliani-said-he-and-trump-were-selling-pardons-for-2m-apiece-ex-aide-claims/ar-AA1bdXfh?ocid=wispr&cvid=fc8bfaafda7a47d3828ae97316295f11&ei=10

Trump re-election not just possible, but likely.
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Anyone who would suggest that all of these investigations into Trump are some sort of "lawfare" by his political enemies is a right wing nutter. Zero credibility. -
Well this is the GOP and they may have learned from past attacks, e.g., swift boat (took down John Kerry), Benghazi, e-mails (took down Hillary Clinton), etc. The problem with going after Joe Biden is that the dude is squeaky clean. I've read about a GOP operative who was frustrated with trying to find something on Biden. He said "the problem with Joe Biden is that nobody hates him."

I wonder if Neely's medical condition matters in a case like this. For example, what if he was high on meth? In other words, did his condition contribute to his untimely death? I recall the defense in George Floyd's case brought up the same....didn't seem to matter. Disclaimer: I don't know whether Neely was on drugs. But he was acting in ways that seemed like he may have been.

Classic. If even Fox is criticizing Comer, it's clear he's got nothing. The GOP has been trying their darndest to get Biden for SOMETHING. Yet, they keep wasting taxpayer money on wild goose chases. If they're serious about looking for corrupt foreign influence from a presidential administration, all they had to do is look into the Trump administration. Tons of corrupt dealings there.

This is a tough one. New Yorkers who ride the subway every day can probably sympathize with Daniel Penny. Seeing crazy people on that subway is probably not uncommon....but crazy and threatening? Well, if I had been there I'd probably applaud Penny for shutting the guy up. But of course, CLEARLY, no one deserves to die. It was an accident, no intent to kill. And it's really a darn shame that one guy was white, the other guy black. That's going to raise the temperature....needlessly.

Stranded in Thailand: Bankrupt foreign woman unable to return home
Berkshire replied to snoop1130's topic in Krabi News
55555.....was thinking the same. If she's a 20 year old hottie, I'm sure many here would offer to help in the most personal way. -
Nevermind CNN, it seems both the MAGA-types and the Dems believed they won. The MAGA folks got some free prime time exposure while the Dems got about a month's worth of ammo for attack ads in the general election. Loser? The moderate Republicans who will be stuck with Trump as their nominee for 2024.

Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in civil case
Berkshire replied to Scott's topic in World News
Trump has had a dismal record on appeals. Whether it's about executive privilege, election fraud, his company, etc., the guy almost always loses. Appellate courts don't often overturn cases to begin with, except for good reasons. Trump has never had a good reason, other than the fact that he lost. -
