If you're willing to adapt to the Thai style way of life, and without having any rent, living with approx. 30000 bht / month should be adequate. I know many farang who lives very comfortably with less than 30000. Just what you want to do with your money I guess.

I don't think its strange, but its actually normal in the USA. Many people in the US view their parents as a nuisance and rather see them in an elderly home.

A friend of mines dog barked at two Thai guys walking down the road and made one of them jump which in his mind made him lose face.

About thirty minutes later a pickup rolled to a halt outside the house, the window came down and the dog was shot in the neck, in front of my friend and her two daughters Bom (7) and Nong (5).

A commotion ensued and the police showed up, but this didn't stop the man shouting and swearing and promising he would return later to kill the other dog which had also barked.

The first dog died the next day and she had to give her other dog to a new home.

That's an example of Thai face for you.

Many expats live in the south of the island, near Rawaii. I live in the north, just by Nai Yang beach. I have a 12,000 baht house (2 bedrooms, 2 ensuite baths, living room and air-con etc). ADSL plus UBC TV. No rip-off prices so far! (Except for the tuk-tuks, but I have a car...)

12,000 Baht house, I'm assuming you're are renting?. How are the house prices anyway near your place (to purchase), for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom standard home?

I love my pets also. They are more loyal to you than your best friends.

Well coming from someone who is met alot of TV members I can assure you - we all look out for one another. Any rate thats why I said get to know people on here before you go - in the end it will be very beneficial to have mates around Thailand.

Personally, I think this is a great idea (especially, the ladies in this forum). In a pinch I believe some nice people in this forum will be more than glad to assist another farang in need.

Thailand is a nice and safe place for you to travel. Please ignore any negative comments this place since; Its most certainly not true. If you paid attention to your mannorism, respect the cultures, be polite and friendly, I'm sure you'll have no problems.

I've often wondered if all people are cheaters? I know myself I can be a very good guy for about 2-3 months of time then the next thing you know I'm out cheating wether it be with a woman, man, Thai, Farang or whatever! Sometimes I think it's the copious amounts of booze guzzled that night or day or whenever it happens.....But at other times there's no drinks and most of the situations are some what bizarre (like when room service gets ordered and the drinks come and next thing you know wham bam thank you man, as the other is out shopping) You know times like that.

So is it just me or is everyone a dawg cheater like me???

For my money this is mostly to do with US debt and the Chinese stating they are no longer going to buy as much of it. The Chinese will diversify into other currencies and I guess other Asian countries will follow this lead.

We will see more angry comments from the US as this news hits home, after all if no one else if paying for US debt they may have to do it themselves

he saw the dog return to the house to find the gate closed, and tried to go through a small opening in the gate. Its left hind leg got stuck to the metal hook part of the gate in the process.

It has been reported that the owner had told rescuers to cut the dog's leg instead of the gate, in order to save the money that would have to be used to fix the gate.

Not a very astute dog... he missed all the signals... if one comes home to a closed gate, the owner is trying to tell you something... and then if the owner is contacted and they tell the people to cut off your leg, well then, you pretty much should know that you're not welcome there anymore.
