  1. I don't know if I have missed something, but my understanding is that there is no dual citizenship allowed for adult Thais. Children can hold both a Thai and foreign passport but must choose which country's citizenship to hold when they attain the age of majority. The prohibition on dual citizenship from the Thai side strikes me as one of the big injustices oif the current legal set up. This is what is deterring my wife from applying for UK citizenship, and I'd be very interested to hear if I am wrong. I am aware that quite a lot of UK-resident Thai wives do in fact have two passports, but I understood that this is not legitimate and can lead to loss of Thai citizenship.

I would say you are miss-informed. As you correctly pointed out there are many Thai's with two passports, ie dual citizens. There are numerous threads on Thaivisa that confirm that this is a "legitimate" thing to do. A quick search and I came up with this fairly recent link on TV: Thai dual citizenship It should allay any of your fears. :o

With dual citizenship it is depending on TWO countries.

In my case f.e. it was only since 1 april 2003 that Dutch government did allow a Thai wife of a Dutch citizen to have two passports.

  2. [quote name='dr_Pat_Pong' date='2006-06-12 14:58:47'

Last time I travelled from Bkk to Jakarta we had 134 kg's (business class).

Golf bags were packed in hardcases.( and filled up with Thai sausages!!!)

In Jakarta they were opened by customs, but when I told them it was pig sausages on top, they were closed inmediately :o )

Sorry about the chat Dr.PP but there are some technical problems that make chatting umongst the OFSC 'ers impossibl;e ( something with lags)

Thanks for asking,I am doing fine ,given the circumstances

  3. I think we both speak the same language.

    I agree.

I spoke about SOME guidelines and by that I mean:

When is the next meeting?Where is the next meeting?Share emails (if you want).Socialize!(if you want)

    Nothing really official yet.

Let's please join the gathering on the 24th and see if the bull can change into a lamb :o

  4. People we really do need ALL of you.

Small interest groups will form and that is good.

During the meeting I stated that we have to accept the variety of people that will show up and be "member". That includes KC and me and D and...and...

Also remember that a written statement looks sometimes more bossy than when it would be a spoken word.

Please accept KC's efforts to have a paper on the table with some issues.

Some need to be addressed and some not.

Any one of you ,who has attended meetings will know that. This is only one of the founding meetings. There need to be some guidelines (during the meeting) otherwise it will (surely )die.

Later we will enjoy life, say hello to eachother while encountering in the streets and develop some new friendships :o

  5. I move out to Bangkok in the summer and would love to join this. Does anyone know if I will need a handicap certificate from my club here in the UK (not that the figure is pretty, 28 on a good day!!!) or can you just play anywhere?
During the last years I played over 25 different courses in Bangkok and Korat .

Never have been asked for :o

  6. I believe it covers ( in better english and more detailed) my previous 2 posts!!

Derek don't be angry,I know that you took it upon you to contact SR of Korat Farang.

I also apreciate your offer for hosting the 29th, if people would like to come.

All of this would be discussed on the 24th.

This first meeting was more or less to find out IF we can get a group together and that was successful, wasn't it...??

I remember my loud outcry : " I am retired and I am happy to have NO rules any more ".It came from the bottom of my heart :D

If smaller interest groups will raise, there will be no problems.Just if everybody accepts that not everybody is interested in their interest :o

Let's make the 24th meeting a happy and nice one.

  7. [quo

I'm trying to be diplomatic but looking forward to the trip to hel_l!.

I surely disagree with some points (or should I say diplomatically; I doubt!)

But this is not the forum to discuss, should be done during the meeting.

May be I should send you a pm ahead.

  8. Seems like I am able to come.

However it will not be the whole afternoon, but time enough to meet some of you :o

PS. I am with the group who provide some contributions to the small community and I am not intend to PROOF my actions.Believe it or not,it's up to you.

  9. Why not have a SENIOR topic?

We oldies can share our experiences and have a laugh about the "stupid" things the youngsters are doing and saying :D

Btw I am 63 and retired (in Thailand) since december 2004.

All well prepaired and taken care off.

Wondering many times how people can retire with 40-50 years? And I not mean mentally but financially. :o

  10. I was too optimistic this morning.

At 14.50hr. it disappeared and did not return uptill now (21.19 hr)

    Let's wait.

There is a website that publishes all sat codes and refreshes them by the minute.

    Anybody know,I lost it unfortunately(it's a thai website) :o

  11. Once again I checked the website for dynasat and could not go to the english version. I did however see a new 4 digit code. Where is this code used at on the setup of the system and also the longer code mentioned in the previous post, where is this one used. I have searched through the instruction book and cannot find where to insert this code.

Like I said the website is all in thai with some english translation so its a bit hard to work out what to do

I encountered the same problem sezzo.

May be some one can help us out :o

Just one week ago I lost dynasat just after heavy rain started in the afternoon.

3 days ago it came back in the afternoon, but it lasted only 11/2 hour.

Yesterday it came back again in the afternoon and also after about 2 hours it was gone.

    This morning it was back.

I simply don't do anything and wait (mai pen rai) but I must admit I have some more dishes on my roof :D

  12. Do your shipment with an official moving company and make it door to door.

One lump sum. Make it very clear in your contract, that no more money is to be expected.

They will have a very good look at the passport of your wife and will count the days and frequency of her visits to Thailand.(max. 3 times a year If I remember well).During my pre-visit to the company in BKK,there was one special official, to have a look in the passport of my wife and he was indeed calculating all the days spent in Thailand.

They will inform you about everything.

That's how I did it 11/2 year ago and everything went perfect.

  13. 100%

For an airco you need a much bigger generator than I have ( mine is 4Kva).That's why I mentioned "fans".

All the mentioned devices have a plug.

Again look at the history of this thread/topic.( about 1 year ago)

This was all technically discussed included the number of devices and so on.

  14. Mine is a Honda with a multiple socket (2)

    I have 2, 20 mtr cables ending in a 4 socket.

They are waiting, together with an extra drum of petrol, for the worse :o

As` I said it is only for the pump, some fans and a light in the dark.

  15. Homepro does sell them.

I bought one ( a small) last year.

There is a thread about this with all technical info.

I need(?) it to have my pump working (toilets and shower),and a fan

It is a luxery, can still use the traditional bucket of water
