Then why are you not relocating to Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen, Syria, North Korea and any of the poorer countries in the world? Surely at least one of them will have something you want.

'He who sups with the Devil should have a long spoon' is a medieval idiom that Shakespeare refers to twice in his plays.

Thank you GarryP. Back in my days as a field engineer an upgrade was supposed to be an improvement and was testes many times before it was implemented.

Thank you for your reply. Since my post I logged out and back in again and I still have the same problems. I did a search for Forum Support and found that and at this point there is only your reply.

I have no idea which forum this should go in. I cannot find the support forum Since the upgrade yesterday at 6 pm (why 6pm and not after midnight as most other websites normally do) I was abruptly logged out and to log back in. To do that I had to sign in, change my password, go to my email address and click onto "reset my password) as ANN would not accept the old one. Go to ANN again and the change my password before I could access the site. I read 'my notifications', but I cannot "clear notifications) as that check box no longer appears The UP arrow to take me back to the top has disappeared once again. So I thought that I would point this out on the "Support forum" and that seems to have disappeared as well, and I cannot find that anywhere. Perhaps it is because I am old and knackered, but I am not sure if it is me.

Workers evacuated from Israel worried about their outstanding debts
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But if you had to pay to get the job, would you still have gone? Many years ago as a contractor I was offered a job by 2 agencies in Iraq. I turned both agencies down simply by asking the question, If I am kidnapped or killed, will you still pay my wife my salary? Both said NO so I replied that if you still want me to go, I will, but I want USD $500,000 in my Thai joint bank account up front before I make a move. I never got that job. Most of the other contracts I went on I put all my expenses into the company and they paid them back. The main difference is that I was paid for my expenses and the Thai contractors are not. -

What an intelligent and sophisticated answer which shows your intelligence level. -

Just oozing with sympathy, aren't you? They HAD jobs in another country and were caught up in a war which was NONE of their fault. They had the gumption to go out and look for another job legally, to help their family in Thailand where they most likely could not find work. Millions of people worldwide do it and would have the same problem if they were caught up in a war. I admire them for looking and working outside the box and sad for what happened to them. THEY have my sympathy as do the families of the Thai workers who were killed and injured. -
Respect is earned, and not to simply be assumed or demanded, as it seems to be here in Thailand. Also it should never be assumed simply because of your name or wealth.

Does it? I have no idea. -

He would also need to report the theft to the police (IIRC it costs about 20 baht). With that report he can report the missing passport to the British embassy, and they can issue something like a temporary passport/travel document. I think he should inform Immigration as well.- 184 replies

FWIW in my opinion the USA should stay out of the area altogether. Upsetting Israel is one thing, upsetting a lot of other Arab countries will be a whole lot worse and far more expensive to the USA, the UK, the EU and the rest of the world. If Israel DOES invade Gaza what can the US do to stop them? If President Biden sends the US military in, the response to US body bags brought back to the US will cripple him and he will be attacked by both the Democrats AND the GOP. Whatever he does next he will be fracked.

And how about all the other immigrant nationalities? Do you think that they should all go back to their countries of origin, irrespective that many of them were actually born in Australia? How about all the illegal immigrants? Should they be allowed in? Who will compensate all the home and business owners for the loss of their land and homes? Who will run all the businesses, sell all the goods, let alone buy all the goods, make and export goods, pay all the taxes and keep the country running? A typical knee jerk comment from you without thinking anything through.

Tracking the growing Shinawatra influence in new Thai government
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't remember Thai PBS whining and complaining 9 years ago when Prayuth did something similar and went one stage further by appointing his family, cronies and mates to become 'appointed senators'. -
I have to dredge my memory banks back to 2013/04/05. IIRC I first did an internet search for the 15 year rule. That asked me where I was staying in the UK and which I left the UK, and either it turned up with the local council website. I found within the council website the voter registration contact details and went from there. They were very helpful and explained what was needed when my friend moved. My 15 years expired in 2021, so I will send them an email sometime this week and ask for an update.
-
It did for me even when my proxy voter moved to a different town, right up to the time I reached the 15 year limit, and then it stopped. Perhaps in 2024 the voting rights for overseas voters will restore that. OTOH it IS a politicians promise and that is worth whatever people believe it is worth. I personally I am not going to hold my breath over it.

Thailand needs to calm down it's rush to EV !
billd766 replied to TorquayFan's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
What a surprise. Somebody else disagrees with you about EVs. Your response is to tell them to visit other threads. Why should they, when they responded to your post in this thread? -

So if I disagree with you and you believe that you are perfect, what happened to discussion. You seem to believe that EV owners are ALWAYS right and everybody who has a different opinion to you is automatically wrong. Nothing like a good bit of bias is there? Not everybody who chooses not to buy an EV is a Luddite. BTW if you don't like my posts on the subject, simply skip over them. -

It doesn't have to be balanced. It is his opinion, in the same way your comment is your opinion. If you disagree with his opinion, then refute it and explain your side of the argument. IMO I agree with his especially as I live in rural Thailand where we get brown outs quite often lasting from a few seconds to several hours, Also the nearest public EV charging points to me are 65 km away. For me to have an EV would mean upgrading my electricity supply and meter and building a new parking area away from the house, and installing some sort of fire suppression system, perhaps dry powder or Co2. The nearest main dealers are also some 65 km away for servicing and spare parts. -
I have been living, working, been based and holidaying here since 1993. I was lucky enough to have a couple of jobs that not only let me travel and work but paid me as well. In my 50 year working life i visited and worked in 38 countries. At 79 I am now sort of retired and potter about my wife's house and land doing odd the odd jobs I can still do, trying to do things I could do (and sometimes I still can do them). I am fortunate in having a loving and caring wife and a great 19 year old son who started uni this year. Yrs I will leave Thailand when they carry me and wheel me around the wat, before I become roast long pig. Then the charcoal will be brought back and popped into the spirit house in the front garden. What!! Me leave Thailand? You must be joking.

I have been logging the local weather reports for a long while and here in rural Kamphaeng Phet over the last couple of years there has been more dust and less "black snow", I haven't that much of an increase in traffic locally but I have no idea what it is like on the main highways, in the cities and tourist areas. Thailand has always been politically unstable since I first came here in the 1990s. I will know a bit more about renewing my marriage extension based on income by the back end of next week. I am planning to renew it on Thursday using the income method. The rest of your post is more guesswork and speculation than facts.
