The panels are mounted on the roof near the eves. I then ran the supplied cable around and under the roof tile into the attic. From there made a small hole in the ceiling to connect to the light mounted high on the wall in the corner. The panels get enough charge during the day to run right through the night if necessary but start to gradually dim about 4.00 am. Usually  turn them off at bedtime except ones in bathroom and kitchen which automatically turn off at sunrise. No extra cable needed.

Really these were fitted so we have light during power cuts but Murphys law has kicked in and have hardly had an outage since I spent the money.

You can buy solar powered fans on Lazada. The cheap as chips solutions to solar power.

Thank you for the information. One of the problems that I have found since we built the house 20 years ago is that we have no access in the house to get into the roof space. I at 79 am too old to make one and TBH the number of times that I have needed to go into the roof space, I can count on one hand with fingers left to spare.

    My apologies you are correct.

I was however responding to a post quoted by DjSilver.

I notice that you picked me up on it but not him, and that is his post at the top of my reply.

Which is about the only thing I would want it for. Already have cheap solar lights ( garden type ) in every room so interior lighting sorted. Cook with gas, mains water ( no pump ), watch movies on tablet , so the only thing we would miss without grid power is our 13,000 btu air con , which recently has been going about 20 hours a day.

I know this is an odd question or 3, but the solar lamps that I have at the moment run out of charge  after about 6 hours. The power cables from the charging panels are only about 2 metres long around 6 or 7 mm thick, expending to perhaps 10 or 12 mm thick where they plug into the light itself. Do you have a special cable or connector of extra length and thinness to get them into the house some how or do you drill a big enough hole in the wall and then put sealant in the hole as well?

If the panels are on charge all day how do you run the lights as well?

Can you run fans from them as well during the day or do you have an external solar array?

So far this year except for April I am using an average of 21.5 units of electricity per day.

Because April was so hot and the main a/c downstairs has been on 6 hours a day, during April I was using 31.5 units on average per day.

I am 79, and the heat downstairs has been getting to me during April. Even my wife who is Thai and 58 is coming in when the a/c is on.

I opened the link on my first click using Google Chrome.

Here are the first few lines.

Palestinian Territory - The consequences of the 200-day Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip are horrifying, both in their scope and their deliberate targeting of Palestinian civilians. This is particularly alarming given the shameful lack of global pressure on Israel to adhere to international law and the rulings of the International Court of Justice and to halt the ongoing crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.

Euro-Med Monitor outlined in numbers the catastrophic results of the genocide being carried out by Israel with the aim of destroying Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This genocide continues unabated, with Israel persisting in its attacks at the same intensity and committing horrendous crimes, ignoring escalating calls for a ceasefire. Israel is fortified by protection of the U.S. and European and international stances that, at best, only amount to condemnation statements.

And a few more, and there is a lot more in the link.

The Israeli army has killed 42,510 Palestinians over the course of its 200-day attack, 38,621 of whom were civilians, including 10,091 women and 15,780 children. The bodies of several thousand are still stuck under the rubble, while thousands remain missing and are presumed dead. These statistics include the killing of 137 journalists, 356 medical personnel, and 42 civil defense personnel.

Based on these data, the daily death toll for Palestinians has reached 212, including 50 women and 79 children. These are horrifying statistics and unprecedented in the context of contemporary warfare.

Actually no that was just one example, plenty more but keep that head buried in the sand

Don't forget to keep your blinders carefully placed to support Israel only.

    Explanation of "blinder".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blinkers_(horse_tack)#:~:text=Blinkers%2C sometimes known as blinders, some cases%2C to the side.

Both "blinker" and "blinder" are also used metaphorically to refer to people with an overly narrow focus or inability to see the larger picture. The term can be seen as implying "a limitation or obstruction to sight or discernment".

And before anyone tries to label me an 'anti-semite' and a 'hamas sympathiser'..

I equally condemn the terrorist organisation hamas, and the terrorist-regime of netanyahoo.

    Both have to go.

If anyone does label you an 'anti-Semite' and a 'Hamas sympathiser' on ANN here, be proud to be labelled thus.

It means that they have no real answer or solution to the problem, so they have to resort to insults.

    Not tripe.

UPDATE: the man spotted waiving around an ISIS flag and wearing a Hamas headband has been arrested.

Wow. One person at one site was waving the "wrong" flag and was arrested. Out of how many protestors at how many university campuses.

Does he NOT have the right to protest also?

What has happened to freedom of speech in the USA, and other western countries, come to that?

    Freedom of speech US style.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68923528

New York City's Columbia University has begun suspending students involved in a pro-Palestinian protest on campus after they defied a deadline to disperse.

College leaders earlier warned those who failed to disband from the two-week encampment by 14:00 EST (18:00 GMT) on Monday would face disciplinary action.

But as the deadline passed, dozens of students rallied at the site.

In Texas, police arrested dozens of protesters and dismantled their camp at the University of Texas at Austin.

Officials there said protesters had ignored directions to take down their tents.

The college said in a statement that "baseball-size rocks" had been found in the encampment and the "majority of protesters are believed to be unaffiliated with the university".

We had 44 over the weekend, Thats brutal !

Our electricity is up this month with temps over 40 regularly. probably up 25%, to be expected.

Mine went up over 40% in April over March. Having said that, it was Songkran and we had 8 extra visitors for 4 days, and 2 of them stayed for 2 weeks. My wife tells me that next month may be worse. even though there are only 3 of us now.

I hadn't tested since I returned in September!!!

I test my blood sugar every Monday morning before I drink or eat anything using my Accu Check Active Glucometer. I bought it on Lazada for 1,130 thb last May plus 50 extra test strips and 50  extra lancets for  487 thb.

Only during this month, April 2024 has it gone past 7.0 since I started testing in June last year. That has given me an average of 7.7 and it is going back down again.

Whilst it is not perfect, it does give me a fair idea of my blood sugar glucose and it only takes 2 or 3 minutes at home once a week.

Let's set things straight: The Thai police did <deleted> all when this happened and only now that it's in the news they start and investigation. The assailant is not an unidentified person and is currently hiding in the south.

Setting things straight would be a good idea.

How about you make a start by telling us all how you know all about it, and provide the links to back it up?

That's true. At present we have the pending billions for the 10.000 Baht scheme. So no money to invest in infrastructure.

Do we have to wait for FFP? Or accept the status quo?

quote "Do we have to wait for FFP? Or accept the status quo?"

Unfortunately that is a question that I am unable to answer.

AFAIR the provincial government will beg the national government for more money to pay the bill. Effectively meaning all the taxpayers in the country will have to pay for something that most of them will never be able to use.

Possibly the best solution might be a desalination plant, but they are not cheap to build, run or maintain.

Where I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet most of the water supply comes down the klong from the Mae Wong national park and is rain fed. At the moment it is possible to walk across the klong in most places without even getting the soles of your shoes wet. The alternative supply comes from Klong Lan Pattana, 6 km away, and only for several hours a day.

The real problem is a national, if not an international problem with a lack of rainfall across SE Asia.
