Thaksin’s imminent return stirs hope, anxiety in Thailand
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Some results like these are available most days on ANN/TVF and they also available in the Thai papers, websites and on social media. He probably also gets reports from the PTP website and from his family here in Thailand In fact I would be surprised if Thaksin did NOT get and read the daily reports. He certainly knows and understands more of what is going on in/with Thai politics than any farang here in Thailand, or offshore for that matter. In addition perhaps some old friends in the police may send him stuff. -
PM Visits Firework Explosion Site in Narathiwat

Prayuth would do better by getting the Malaysian police to find and deport the warehouse owners to Thailand. After all he IS the minister for everything. -
Unfortunately if my wife goes then I am limited to downstairs in the house as I have a problem with breathing and walking. If I fall over my wife is not strong enough to pick me up, though she can phone for help. Our 19 year old son is no use either as he is studying at Chiang Rai Uni 500 km away. Last month was my second blackout and by the time the ambulance arrived I was coming around. They took me to the local hospital where I was examined and sent straight to the provincial hospital and spent 2 nights there. As for the first one in February it is a blank spot as I have no idea how long I was blacked out. The postman found me but my wife was in the village and he told my neighbour who called the ambulance I remember sitting outside the kitchen and waking up in the hospital. I had no idea what had happened, where I was other than the hospital, what the time or day was or how I got there. The IO at Kamphaeng Phet is 70 km away and a 2 and a bit hour return trip. trip. TBH, at 79, I am scared sh*tless of another blackout without my wife being around. I should be back to some semblance of normality in a couple of weeks and I will do my 90 day report in person then, grimly clutching my hospital report in my hand.

Global rice trade shook by El Nino, politics, and embargo in Thailand
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That would assume that the ONWR in Thailand allow Thai rice farmers to grow their crop in view of the predicted drought caused by El Nino which may last until 2025,m according to an account (that I cannot quote) in the Bangkok Post yesterday and today. 1 If the Thai rice farmers are not allowed to grow rice, how will the afford to live in the next 12 to 18 months? 2 If the Thai rice farmers cannot grow rice, where will the rice come from to feed the Thai people, how much will the prices rise and how will the country pay for the rice imports? 3 The ONWR and its staff don't care as they are paid by the government whether they work or not. 4 Any price rise and/or shortage of rice will, IMHO be charged to the very long suffering (poor) Thai people. -
Now that is a completely different story compared to The Thaiger and the police report. The police have actually been to the site and I expect the Thaiger took its report from them. In a different report from the Thaiger link says something else again quote "In a contrasting account reported by Channel 8, it was suggested that the driver might not have noticed the approaching train due to poor visibility caused by the dark accident spot and the elevated position of the railway, creating a blind spot for motorists. Disturbingly, pictures shared by news agencies revealed the absence of a barrier gate or warning light at the location to signal motorists about the oncoming train." Your photos show a flat track and road and warning lights but no barrier. Something is not correct somewhere in the posts.

quote from the OP link. "Disturbingly, pictures shared by news agencies revealed the absence of a barrier gate or warning light at the location to signal motorists about the oncoming train." It appears from this that it was an illegal crossing. As for listening to a passenger who said 'of course you can make it before the train comes'. A foolish thing to say, sometimes but not many, you get lucky, but sadly many times you don't. A few minutes wait, would have saved 8 lives.

Therefore I will assume that you will add all those dictators including the Thai military to your list as well, and have nothing to do with them. -

I suspect that K Somsak knows far more about Thailand, Thaksin and elections than you or I ever will. -

What is more criminal than stealing an entire country at the point of a gun and with tanks to back them up. To add insult to injury every military coup leader has torn up the existing constitution, had a new constitution written in their favour, and given themselves an amnesty for all past, present and future acts. How many generals in how many coups have EVER been punished? Why are you ignoring the constant military coups and not condemning them? Military coups are illegal -

All of whom were de facto dictators of those countries. And all of them murdered their own citizens. -
And if the 65,000 drops below that figure even for 1 month you may have a problem with your extension. Also if your income is 65,100 and th forex rate drops you cannot send 65,000 as there may not be enough money in your UK account to stretch that extra. 65,000 baht is the bare minimum amount required, which is why, if you had read my post clearly, you would have seen that I pointed out that you need to send more than 65,000 baht every month as a safety factor. The forex rate which changes daily is a vital factor in how much it will cost every month to maintain the bare minimum.
