  1. It was never built as a godown in the first place but as a shop selling farming and kitchen equipment. It was converted into a warehouse later. I would assume planning permission was either not applied for or the paperwork was fudged. I don't think planning permission would have been granted (perhaps fudged though) to store fireworks and/or explosives.
  2. If I had my druthers I would prefer an electric golf cart to a Tuk Tuk, but they have old style batteries and a 48v power supply. https://www.marshell.net/GolfCart/index_1.html 4 Seater Golf Cart DG-M4 Lead-acid batteries / Lithium batteries /(solar-powered)(optional) All lights system is LED. New Speedo, big size and easy operation Bigger seat and backrest, all foaming seat, soft and conformable. When I went a little deeper I found that they offer the choice of power supply, Lead-acid batteries / Lithium batteries /(solar-powered)(optional) I have seen one model from a different company whose name I think is Gem, that has a ramp and a place for a wheelchair.
  3. I am not however, like you I have no vote or voice in Thailand. What I do have is a 19 year old son (birthday on 1st August) who has recently started at Chiang Rai Uni. I am concerned that he may wander into a problem by accident (or not) and that his Mum and I are 500 km away.
  4. Having no vote or voice in Thailand it doesn't matter if we accept it or not. Probably because they have the tanks, guns and power to back themselves up against unarmed civilians.
  5. In Prawits case it would be more like dull skuggery. Usually they have graduated from a 7th rate military academy.
  6. That will make the guy who cuts my grass happy. He works in the Mae Wong national park, and cuts my 5 or so rai on his days off.
  7. According to the Bangkok Post (no quote), the owners originally opened the building as a shop selling farm equipment and kitchenware. The shop was later converted into a warehouse, which it never was designed as in the beginning. Whether the owners ever got permission is another question.
  8. I got a little confused when I read the headline saying "fans" instead of vans. I also believe that they are not necessarily for foreigners, but for the Thai people who may be arrested for protesting. I would think that they probably called the vans and crews in from other provinces, and that they will return them and their crews when they are finished with them. That is only my thoughts and opinion.
  9. When I read the WaPo link I found that of the 256 days of his presidency, he has all or part of 75 days at Camp David (the unofficial designated getaway for presidents) and 68 days overseas. Those 68 days spent overseas are most probably working days and at Camp David he probably was working part time as well. Whilst the WaPo did not necessarily lie, it also didn't mention what President Biden was actually doing, whilst away from the White House, who else was there or who he met at the time. At least he wasn't playing golf all the time at the US taxpayers expense for himself or flying his security crew and the aircraft crew to stay and one of President Biden's golf resorts offshore. AFAIK President Biden doesn't own any resorts. There is more info in the link if anyone is interested in digging a bit deeper.
  10. But the government will tell you that the elderly DO get a rise. However they only get the rise, a whopping 100 baht extra every 10 years. At 60 it is 600 baht per month At 70 it is 700 baht per month At 80 it is 800 baht per month At 90 it is 900 baht per month At 100 it becomes the enormous sum of 1,000 baht per month with NO rises in the intervening years. In the village that I live in I only knew 1 man who lived to be 100 and he died a few weeks after his 100th birthday. His unmarried daughter looked after him.
  11. Successive governments don't care about that as those in power have plenty of money and perks, and the poor and elderly are just a drain on the countries resources. The attitude is let them eat cake, and let their families look after them. An attitude found in many countries worldwide. Or in Royal Navy speak, "Pull up the ladder Jack, I'm all right".
  12. My day came in May 2009 and it has stayed at that rate for the last 14 years.
  13. How 'lucky' for him that he was not among the dead and injured.
  14. One way of saving money would be to get rid of 1,xxx non active generals, scrap the submarine budget, scrap the F 35 budget, scrap conscription and cut the "sacred" military budget by 50%.
  15. I just did a search, but could find no stats newer than 2020. https://www.statista.com/statistics/716001/share-of-household-income-levels-in-thailand-forecast/
  16. Not all Thais are middle class or rich either.
  17. From the OP Quote "He explained that, according to the party’s budget policy, budgeting under the leadership of Pheu Thai can be finalised sooner than under Move Forward, which has a zero-based budgeting policy, which requires all expenses to be justified and approved in each new budget period. And this is a bad thing?
  18. quote "What insanely fragile egos Thai people have". What insanely fragile egos SOME, but not all Thai people have.
  19. Good for you. Is that all YOU have to say? You do realise that not everybody invests. Please tell us all in your own words what Russia really is?
  20. Why don't you do an internet search for yourself and find out? try looking here https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-57001674 or here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thamanat_Prompow maybe here https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/thai-cabinets-convicted-heroin-trafficker-also-bought-his-phd/ here are 3 links directly addressing the subject, I simply typed in "convicted heroin smuggler in Thai government" and these 3 links came up straight away Surely a simple internet search is not beyond your capability?
  21. IMHO that should apply to ALL politicians worldwide no matter what their position or their political party. Nor should it matter how many advisors they have or what age their advisors are.
  22. Do you think that politicians worldwide should stay as politicians until they die?
