Bracing for impact: Biden world preps for Hunter Biden fallout
billd766 replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
If it is hidden, yet you know it is 10%, it cannot have been hidden very well. Unless like some posters, you are making it up. That is a simple problem to fix. Prove it. -

And the royal family are responsible for that in what way exactly? -
Thaksin Shinawatra's imminent homecoming: A risky move for Pheu Thai
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Because the world changes and moves on. What happened before does not mean it will happen again At the last election many older yellow shirts and rabid royalists protested in Bangkok and the FFP was dissolved, but ONLY after the election. Over 6 million new young voters were disenfranchised. The EC also changed its own rules on the number of votes a small party needed to get a party list seat. Once again AFTER the election. Move forward 4 years to now and those 6 million voters are still there, and it seems that there are at least another 3 million new young voters this time around. Contrast that with the yellow shirts and rabid royalists who are also 4 years older and quite a few have died off. IMHO the Bangkok protests of 4 years ago will simply be swept aside by numbers alone. IF the EC, the CC and the rest of the alphabet soup agencies they will simply be ignored by the Thai people, and if the army is brought in, well there are simply not enough of them and there are many young conscripts among them who may or may not face their families and simply refuse to take part. -
Thank you also for your help and information. It was over 9 years ago I last applied.

Thank you for that information. The last time I renewed my passport was through Hong Kong (before VFS came along) but the Passport Office would not accept my KBank debit card. I rang a friend in the UK and used her card and transferred the money through normal banking and that worked very well. This time I might ask my son and transfer the money through my Wise UK account.

Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
Back in 1988 my first work laptop top was a Toshiba 1100 with one 3 1/2 inch floppy drive and a whole 2 mB of RAM. The OS was Windows 2.0x. It was replaced by a Toshiba 1200 with 2, count them, 2 floppy drives. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toshiba_T1100 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toshiba_T1200 Just look at the prices in the link in 2021 prices https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_2.0x -
Whereabouts is the VFS office ib Chiang Mai and is there nay parking very close to it. I can manage to walk 25 or 30 metres and then I have to sit down for several minutes to get my breath back. Fortunately my passport does not expire until June 17 2024 so I have plenty of time.. My marriage extension needs renewing in October this year and I understand will only get an extension until the date of my passport enquiry. As for payment does VFS accept cash or a KBank debit card? How about appointments. I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet about half way between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Thaksin Shinawatra's imminent homecoming: A risky move for Pheu Thai

And how many more people are frightened by tanks, guns and water cannon? Something that Thaksin never used on the crowds of protestors. -
There is a group of anti Royalist in the UK called the Republic UK who wish to abolish the Monarchy. To me they are simply a very noisy group of people trying to tell the millions of people in the UK that the Monarchy should be abolished, Out of curiosity I did a search on the internet and came up with this, https://www.republic.org.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwmN2iBhCrARIsAG_G2i7ydYpVhf9qlC8-Zd4XCw2FbLLLun2_3gzxd5dtmPh1NB8OEOgV3rYaAhWHEALw_wcB Why we protest This great country of ours is full of creativity, potential and possibility. The problems we face can mostly be traced back to our flawed political system, one that puts too much power in the hands of too few. The campaign for a republic is about democratic reform, democratic principles and ridding the country of an institution that serves itself and those in power - the few, not the many. Most people in the UK believe in democratic values and the importance of democracy in creating a prosperous and fair society. About Republic Republic is a membership-based pressure group campaigning for the abolition of the monarchy and its replacement with a directly elected head of state. We represent all Britain's republicans, bringing the case for a republic to a wider audience while scrutinising the actions of the royal household. We are strictly non-party political and have the support of over 80,000 republicans. We are a democratic organisation, led by our members and underpinned by a set of core principles. We are an inclusive movement, with members and supporters from across the political spectrum and from a diverse range of backgrounds. They have over 80,000 supporters and believe in democracy, but casually ignore the millions who celebrated yesterday. They also complained about the cost of the coronation and moaned about the taxpayer having to pay for it all. They also conveniently ignored the Sovereigns' List and the income from tourist which more than covered the costs. AFAIR the majority rule in a democracy but nowadays it seems as though they only need to shout louder and louder to get attention and the majority are simply ignored. IF they ever get more than 35 million supporters I amy take some notice of them, though at 78 I cannot see that happening in my lifetime. To me personally they are like the one annoying fly that is always buzzing around. but you can never catch. That is my Sunday rant over.

I took my oath to the King this morning, out loud at home. The words have changed a bit since the one I took in January 1960 but the meaning is still the same. I saw no reason not to take the oath especially as it is not compulsory, and it was my choice.

There will be more stories like this, and more qualified people needed across the whole of Thailand as both Thais and farangs get older. The helpers also need to be in their 30s or 40s, physically strong to move people around, medically trained to do certain jobs, mobile, (scooter car etc), living in an area where the need is strong. and reasonably well paid. Ex nurses would be good and they could also work in conjunction with the village helpers if they need help. It seems like a good business opportunity for a start up business by a Thai with the money to spare. Charges can be set by mutual agreement and contacts made through the Pu Yai Ban in rural areas and by word of mouth in urban and city areas. There will have to be a tremendous amount of trust needed. If I had the money I would certainly set a business up for my wife to manage. It could be expanded later to work with people in buying food, doing laundry etc, though in the early stages I would try to keep money transactions out of it.

If it is a federal law and was passed in 2005 then the law can be struck down and replaced by another law removing that action. To me that is a bad law, and my common sense says that it should be removed and actions may be brought in any Federal or State court. Bear in mind that the law is 18 years old and things change over the years. The same thing should apply with the second amendment. It was merely an amendment to the constitution over 200 years ago when life was completely different. As an amendment it also could be removed and a new amendment could and should replace it.

At least Thaksin never stole the country at the point of a gun, as happened so many times before. Strange how nobody ever got punished for that. -
Thaksin Shinawatra's imminent homecoming: A risky move for Pheu Thai

A long way from the end. For instance was the coup illegal in the first place? Were the charges brought against Thaksin by an army backed court? If so, and the coup was illegal, then the charges are illegal too. How about Thaksin left the country as he knew he would not get a fair trial? How about no country would extradite Thaksin to Thailand for a trial on BS charges? How about the fact that NO coup leader has stood trial for a coup, and all of them gave themselves and their cronies an amnesty? -
Of course they can do it. The stumbling block is as usual, the GOP, the republicans who automatically oppose anything that the Democrats propose. It is long past time yhat the current mob, I cannot call them a political party were kicked out of the house and the senate and a new lot brought in who WILL work for the USA and ALL its people. That means in all states and at federal level. That is not to say get rid of the GOP, just the current incumbents, and replace them with party members who ARE willing to work for the country and NOT the current party line. The Democrats may have to go the same way.

In England we have a saying that runs, "Put your money where your mouth is". If the proof of intimidation is there then take it to the courts. If not then there is nothing to prove. I have just read, before the Daily Mail DEMANDED if remove my ad blocker or not read the article, that the allegation, which is what it is, is merely repeating what Comer has said. He is supposedly a very powerful man but does not seem to want to take the "allegations" further to a court case. I wonder why? As for the DM, who really cares what they write anyway? -
Please stop using the term "we". you are only speaking for yourself. When a presenter has so many people agreeing with his admittedly open lies, IMHO he gets 2 written warnings and the third time he gets fired. Again this is only MY feeling. Unlike you I can only speak for myself, as I am not arrogant enough to believe that I speak for other people.
