  1. Random diagnosis on the basis of a photo? I wish that I were half as smart as you.
  2. You can post as many photos as you wish, but it is still only your opinion, and NOT that of everybody else.
  3. Who is we? You are not speaking for me, but only for yourself.
  4. The military is completely outnumbered by the civilian population, not to mention that perhaps 30% of the military are conscripts. They can control small areas with mass manpower, but they cannot face demonstrations in many places at the same time. The bulk of the military are not the problem. It is the generals, the Hiso's, the rich and the royalists who are the problem and there are not as many as they think they are, nor are they as powerful. If there is a problem on the streets, I doubt that there will be anybody higher than a colonel out there, and he will only have a limited authority to instigate anything. This is my personal opinion.
  5. Scroll down the first post. See Fox News. Ignore the thread.
  6. What was she tweeting? Her personal opinion or the CNN story? I would think that as it was a tweet it was her personal opinion which of course she is entitled to, though not everybody will agree with her.
  7. But whose truth? You are making the assumption with no real knowledge or facts.
  8. You would love the Victor. especially if you were running low on fuel. However for a real man's aircraft, how about one of these? I worked on them in 1962/63 at Thorney island and in 1963/64 in Bahrain. Or a real monster, the Vulcan.
  9. How many people, residents, workers and tourists are present on Samui at any one time? How many resorts do their laundry every day? How many resorts use water (and how much water) every day for their guests to shower and use the toilets, to cook and clean with. The same applies to all the workers and the residents. quote from the Thaiger "To address the water crisis issue, the Authority aims to supply an additional 24,000 cubic metres of water from Surat Thani on the mainland via an underwater pipeline to Koh Samui." It states that they will "aim" to supply 24,000 cubic metres of water per day, not that they WILL supply that much water. 24,000 cubic metres of water is 24 million litres of water a day. Where will they find that much extra water from, at what cost and who will pay for it? Will it just be used in the municipal water supply or available to everyone? Will Samui expand their municipal water supply system to all areas and resorts? Where will all the waste (grey) water and the toilet water go to? Talk is cheap but to do the job properly will take time and money.
  10. Never mind the rest of the population. Just go and spend your money so taht a few people will make even more money. BTW, when the price of water goes up to the hotels and resorts, you will be the ones who pay for it.
  11. Perhaps it is, IF you live in a city or an urban area. In rural Thailand, by far the largest area and probably the most populated only 7/11 offers a delivery service and many places prefer cash.
  12. What will they do with the old extinguishers that are replaced?
  13. BS. There are many good marriages between Thai ladies and farangs that are never posted here due to the negative attitudes of many of the posters here on ANN. As for the helper/nurse/scenario I am 79 and I have supported my wife through 23 years of marriage and for 7 years before that. Of course I trust her. She has taken over the jobs that I used to do but cannot do any more. As for the "I wonder how many old guys get the poison in the coffee treatment and we never hear about it." Perhaps you never hear about it as it is most likely a figment of your imagination. You do realise that when a farang dies, unless there is a record of poor health and long term illness, an autopsy is performed by the police to determine the cause of death
  14. There have been quite a few "where did it all go right marriages" over the years. However they have all been diverted and corrupted by the many negative posters who have been burned over the years. That is why you rarely see them nowadays. I, and one or two other posters try to put our positive views, but it is like King Knut trying to stop the tide coming in.
  15. Mine too.
  16. One of the problems that is rarely thought about is that by attracting more tourists, more water is used (and has to be disposed of) plus more trash piles up to be disposed of. Tourist business operators don't seem to plan for that and AFAICS neither does the local authority. They are too busy chasing cash and profits to consider forward thinking.
  17. I had a calibrated hammer.
  18. Not only ignoring the toll fee 260 times, but using fake number plates. YOU are one that repeatedly says the law must be obeyed, or do you simply ignore the law for rich people. You cannot have it both ways, Either enforce the law or scrap it. 260 times 10,000 equals 2,600,000 baht she has stolen from the tollway system, and she has done it deliberately using fake plates. How much is the fine for that, 260 times? As you rtepeatedly claim, the law is the law.
  19. Me neither. As a farang I cannot get credit even though I am the one bringing the money in, I can get a credit card, but it means depositing the amount of money I want as a credit card into a separate bank account and paying the credit card through that account. OTOH my wife being Thai can get credit.
  20. I will become a problem for them. At my age of 79 with a problem walking, my wife does all the shopping and she doesn't go to bar visits, girls, drinks, condoms, casino, massage, motorbike rental etc, though she does pay cash for lottery tickets. She mainly shops in the village markets and shops and also the 7/11.
  21. Possibly. Most of the guys I worked with in the 1990s and 2000s who married Thai ladies are still married to them. Some live back in their homeland, some like me live in Thailand, some are still working and their wives are still with them in third countries. Most have children that live with them, some have businesses of their own as well as family.
  22. BS. You saved nothing and wasted a post. I have been married to my Thai wife for 23 years, and I knew her for 7 years before that. Our 18 year old son has just started at Chiang Rai university. Not ALL Thai women are the same.
  23. And what about his 4 year old son?
  24. But Phuket is only a very small part of Thailand.
