  1. I don't think that they will have much choice about it. I do think that the ministry of dirty tricks is working a double shift as we post.
  2. here is a link. https://reparationscomm.org/reparations-news/britains-colonial-shame-slave-owners-given-huge-payouts-after-abolition/#:~:text=The British government paid out,in Britain's colonies in 1833.
  3. There is an election coming next year, and Anutin will do almost anything to become the next PM.
  4. NATO haven't done too badly with the Ukraine so far this year. They have supported the Ukraine on a daily basis with most things short of actually deploying forces there. Now that would give Putin an excuse to up his war though I am sure he will lose in the end.
  5. As has been said many times, especially to you, NOT all IOs are the same.
  6. https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-7886/ It is far too big to download here. https://fullfact.org/europe/our-eu-membership-fee-55-million/ https://www.statista.com/statistics/316888/uk-eu-transactions/ This is just a selection of the 4,430,000,000 results (0.55 seconds) I am sure that in those results there are ample examples for both Brexiteers and Remainers to each say "I told you so back in 20.."
  7. Thank you. I did a different one and that has more public holidays. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=public+holidays+in+thailand+2023&sxsrf=ALiCzsYGIIOO63pZ44rTTTlhaGySUHVRmg%3A1672135499083&source=hp&ei=S8OqY4qkAqKA3LUP0N6RqA8&iflsig=AJiK0e8AAAAAY6rRWxUpkMhbar9a5USu7ui--LYqXHT1&oq=p&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAEYADIECCMQJzIECCMQJzIECC4QJzILCC4QgAQQsQMQgwEyCwgAEIAEELEDEIMBMgsIABCABBCxAxCDATIICAAQsQMQgwEyDgguELEDEIMBEMcBENEDMgsIABCABBCxAxCDATIICAAQsQMQgwFQAFgAYP0vaABwAHgAgAGCAYgBggGSAQMwLjGYAQCgAQE&sclient=gws-wiz
  8. Well the mighty invincible Russian forces haven't done very well during the last 10 months, since Putin started the war. What makes you think that they will do better in 2023? Considering the size of the Russian armament industry it seems odd that they have to buy drones from Iran.
  9. I have a list of Thai holidays from the internet but Thailand generally has extra days as well.
  10. But it is not an unreasonable demand, since Russia was the aggressor in both cases. Nor is it unreasonable for the the Ukraine to demand reparations for all the damage that the Russians have caused. Nor is it unreasonable for the the Ukraine to demand that ALL Russian war criminals, including Putin be handed over to a war crimes tribunal at the Hague.
  11. Perhaps part of the peace talks might be about a total Russian withdrawal from the whole of the Ukraine. At this point there are few if any details about what the talks might entail so it may be best if we wait for more information, such as if Russia will join the peace talks, where they will be held and who will guarantee the end results.
  12. quote "That's a given assumption that's plain as fact. Right?" Perhaps it is, at least in your mind. Though probably not in most peoples minds.
  13. the Scourge of God by S M Stirling. Book # 5 of a 9 book series.
  14. from the OP. quote "Sonthaya said this was because the suspect and his gang are connected to a local journalist and a politician and the cops are scared." Alternatively go round to the guys place with 20 cops and simply arrest him. If he resists shoot him in the leg so that he cannot run away. If the journalist and the politician interfere, arrest them too for interfering with police business. Remember that there are more police than thugs in Thailand and the man at the top is the PM.
  15. Let him spend a few years in Thailand first. In jail.
  16. So was I but my problem then and still is now is who determines what is the truth. We had a referendum back in 1972 about joining the Common Market which is what it actually was back then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accession_of_the_United_Kingdom_to_the_European_Communities The Treaty of Accession 1972, which brought the United Kingdom into the European Communities, had already been met with opposition in the Parliament of the United Kingdom, notably from Labour's Peter Shore, who was Shadow Leader of the House of Commons at the time. He said: "This is a treaty which carries the most formidable and far-reaching obligations. It is a treaty—the first in our history—which would deprive the British Parliament and people of democratic rights which they have exercised for many centuries. I can think of no treaty, to cite only one characteristic of the Rome Treaty, in which the British Parliament agree that the power to tax the British people should be handed over to another group, or countries, or people outside this country, and that they should have the right in perpetuity to levy taxes upon us and decide how the revenues of those taxes should be spent."[11] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Economic_Community This is what the UK signed up to join, making the UK the 7th member. The Community's initial aim was to bring about economic integration, including a common market and customs union, among its six founding members: Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany. It gained a common set of institutions along with the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) as one of the European Communities under the 1965 Merger Treaty (Treaty of Brussels). This is where the EU is today or at least at the time of the article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union After the creation by six states, 22 other states joined the union in 1973–2013. The United Kingdom became the only member state to leave the EU in 2020,[22] ten countries are aspiring or negotiating to join it. IMHO it has become too big and too unwieldy, plus it is too costly for the richer nations supporting the poorer nation to sustain for ever. There are far too many bureaucrats and far too many opportunities for corruption as has been seen in the international news lately. Running the EU must be a bit like herding cats in the direction that YOU want them to go and they don't. As a Common Market which is what it was it worked very well, but as the Behemoth it has morphed into, it doesn't work that well at all. Whilst I admit that the EU does have many good things going for it, I personally feel that it is too big for its boots. One of its greatest failures, again IMHO, is illegal immigration which is out of all proportion to its original intent, where some countries in the EU refuse access to the illegals, even to the extent of barricading their countries from their neighbours, other countries refusing to allow the illegals to even land there, and yet other countries allowing the illegals (and in some countries aiding them) to go to 3rd and 4th countries.
  17. It was Christmas eve in the harem The eunuchs were stood round the walls When asked what they wanted for Christmas The eunuchs all shouted Horlicks. Cos it gets cold at night.
  18. Your mother was right but she should have returned the Tramadol back to the pharmacy for them to dispose of.
  19. At 78 I have fallen over 3 times this year. The first time I was given Tramadol was as a pain killer after my first visit to the hospital, and it worked very well. But the side effects I felt were not so good. I would fall asleep at anytime and anywhere. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-4398-5239/tramadol-oral/tramadol-oral/details See also Warning section. Nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, or headache may occur. Some of these side effects may decrease after you have been using this medication for a while. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To prevent constipation, eat dietary fiber, drink enough water, and exercise. You may also need to take a laxative. Ask your pharmacist which type of laxative is right for you. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Although I didn't suffer from the first 3, the last 3 got to me. Now when I am asked if I have any allergies the first is Tramadol and the second is penicillin but I can take streptomycin.
  20. Perhaps this may refresh your memory. Since 1993 when I first came to Thailand on business I have only had one IO be rude to me. That includes the one stop place in Bangkok, Suan Phlu in Bangkok which was very over crowded and the IO's got a lot of hassle, Mae Sot, Nakhon Sawan and Kamphaeng Phet over a 29 year period. I don't have to play the "big man" to show people how smart and clever I am, nor do I have to play the big mouth which is what you are and how you act. Yes I have a friend at Kamphaeng Phet IO and no, I don't go shouting about it as I have no need to. You and I have different attitudes to life and mine is the easier path to follow. What you call sucking up, I call politeness and good manners, which is something that my parents taught me decades ago. It is also something that it is never to late to learn.
  21. You might but less of the "We". You are not speaking for anybody that I know of, Thai or farang. Judging by your avatar, you are not Thai, and have no vote anyway.
  22. When they can get the military back in the cage where they belong, and sack all of the hundreds of redundant generals.
  23. My half Thai/half Brit son is now 18. He was born and lived in Thailand all fof his life. We have not had a penny in child support from the UK UK child support during that time. The best information I have found so far is here https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-abroad Living in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein If you moved to an EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein before 1 January 2021 (or if you’re covered by another condition of the EU Withdrawal Agreement) you might get Child Benefit for children living with you. You’ll need to be both: Living in a country that has a social security agreement with the UK You may be able to get Child Benefit if you’re living in: Barbados Bosnia and Herzegovina Canada the Channel Islands Israel Kosovo Mauritius Montenegro New Zealand North Macedonia Republic of Ireland Serbia Contact the Child Benefit Office to find out if you can make a claim. They may or may not be able to help you. It seems as though living in Thailand you are not entitled to anything despite how much tax you have paid.
