Perhaps she doesn't have any warm clothes and on 800 baht a month it is hard to pay all your bills, still eat and keep warm. Try it for a month yourself. Whilst it is not the basement it is downstairs and as Steven100 pointed out, the stairs don't look that safe. Maybe her family have all moved away to work elsewhere. When I was young in the 1950s all the neighbours knew each other and nobody locked their houses up. All of us kids could be found easily enough around at somebody's house, but not nowadays. I know my neighbours for 3 houses away on one side and I know the old man on the other side but I haven't seen his wife in months. I am in contact with more people on the other side of the world than I am in Thailand. I suspect that would be much the same for most of us.

How did you manage to get so far off topic? There was me thinking that the topic was about Pheu Thai to knock back skyrocketing electricity costs hitting business with a 21% rise in 2023 in Thailand and all of a sudden you are trying to derail the topic to quote "Biden sanctions hitting energy costs in most places while in turn providing more revenue to Russia". If you want to start a thread about that please do so in a new topic.

I suppose that you think that murdering innocent men, women and children, illegally deporting Ukrainian men, women and children,. destroying the Ukrainian infrastructure, using drones to attack the country that was never Russian in the first place is OK, as it is NOT a war as described by the Russian government.

It does not matter what label you use, it is the same breed of animal. They are in the Thai news at least once a week for killing or injuring men, women and children of all ages. It does not matter how many owners on this forum protest how lovely, cuddly and friendly their pit bull and the variations are, or how careful the owners are, it only takes a second or two for the lovely, cuddly and friendly pit bull into a killing animal. The response will most likely be, as in Thailand, well my dog has never done that before. A fairly simple question for their owners Why do you NEED to have a pit bull or the variations?

Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?

First you ask me if I am serious, yes I am serious, and then you admit to paying well over the daily rate yourself. -
Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I worked it out fairly easily. 600 - 350 = 250. 250 / 5 = 50 per day, per year over a 5 year period from 2022 until 2027. Or if you want to be picky it will be 62.5 per day, per year over a 4 year period from 2023 until 2027. -
We live at the Klong Lan end of the Mae Wong national park on the slope leading up to it. My wife's land is rain fed from the park and though we do have access to mains water, to irrigate it would be a bit expensive. We bought the land as she had the desire to be a farmer, but gave up on the idea in her second year after seeing all the hard work involved with man saparang and the financial returns. She now rents the land to a local farmer and has a small income without all the hard work.

I suspect that it has been removed because any reporting of the Royal Family, other than by the Family themselves or by the government is, or can be, subject to the LM law, section 112 of the current updated constitution. It is also on the BBC world news website.

Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
I can remember back in the UK winding all the Xmas lights onto cardboard in January and eventually unwinding and untangling them in December every year. Then hooking them up to make sure that they all work again. Going to the January sales to buy more every year. I am so glad that I am living in Thailand and we don't HAVE to celebrate Xmas. -
I can remember not 20 years ago how rice was harvested by gangs of older poorer people working from rice farm to rice farm. Nowadays rice farmers telephone the guy with the rice harvester to book an appointment to harvest their rice paddies. On the appointed time and day a truck turns up with a rice muncher on the back, off loads it and away they go using only 2 or 3 people including the farmer and the driver. The other older people don't do it any more and the younger people don't WANT to do it.

Trump Organization found guilty on multiple counts of criminal tax fraud
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in World News
*Deleted post edited out* You won't convince him. He truly believes that Trump can do, and has done nothing wrong in his entire life. No matter what evidence is put before him by the courts, by posters with truthful links etc, he will not and cannot accept it. I put him on ignore weeks ago and I only see his posts through other posters, and I only read them for the laughter factor. -
Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?

Out here in rural Kamphaeng Phet, I paid 2 guys 1,500 baht between them to cut all my grass and scrub. It took them 2 days but they did miss several bits and they did not work 8 hours in the day. I consider myself lucky to even get somebody to cut the grass and scrub in the first place. -

billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It is actually 50 baht per person, per day, per year. In addition when people earn more money they tend to have less debt. The government gains, because people have a bit more money to spend so VAT income increases, as does the number of people who pay tax. The people who don't gain are those multi billionaires who have more money than they can ever spend in their lifetimes. -
Cold Fronts Bringing Chills to Most of Thailand This Week
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not necessarily. It depends on where you live and where the weather station is situated. The closer you live to the weather station, the more accurate it is. If you don't like the Thai weather forecast try these, and choose your own locality. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/th/khlong-lan https://www.accuweather.com/en/th/khlong-lan/318424/weather-forecast/318424 https://www.weathercrave.com/weather-forecast-thailand/city-588481/weather-forecast-khlong-lan-patthana-today https://weather.com/en-MT/weather/tenday/l/Khlong+Lan+Kamphaeng+Phet+Thailand?placeId=5e07d1001622e556db0a77e4674333837e7ce3469f89429d8e44c4ccde96c7c4 Please bear in mind that most of these weather stations are virtual and none really have a weather station on the ground. Alternatively you could buy your own weather station and set it up.
