  1. I got a similar email yesterday, and based on a similar amount last month the new charge will cost me an extra 66 pence UK per month. My total monthly transfers will probably cost me about GBP 1 per month or about 46 thb. From the Wise email "This is because the fees for sending GBP to THB have gone from 0.69 GBP + 0.55% to 0.97 GBP + 0.60%".
  2. It is if you have to produce 37 separate documents twice, including 3 copies of the bank letter (1 for each IO, signed and stamped with the bank stamp) and 1 for your own records), which you cannot normally get until the morning of your application. Bangkok Bank require 3 working days notice to produce the bank letter and a 12 month statement. Also the bank letter and the 12 months of statements have to be on Bank headed paper, and not generated at home. Oddly enough, my KBank branch in the village can do the same task in about 1 hour, but they have to refer to "Head office" if you want a certified copy, stamped and signed of each FTT transfer form. It is also a PITA if you live 70km or more from the IO as many people do.
  3. It depends on where and what your IO reporting office is. AFAIK if your office is, for example a regional office, you generally only need 1 set of documents. My IO in Kamphaeng Phet comes under Region 5 office in Chiang Mai, and therefore needs 2 sets of documents. I won't bother to go into why all the documents are not scanned into the IO computer, and from there they could be accessed by any IO through the intranet. That has been the subject of many other posts over the years.
  4. AFAIR you can make a Thai will together with your wife and nominate who the house and land will do to if she dies before you. If you have legally adopted your wife's son by her first marriage (here I am not 100% certain), he will get the first chance, followed by her parents, followed by blood relatives (brothers and sisters in age), and then uncles and aunts, then your wife's cousins. If your wife's son is underage he can still inherit the house and land though the court may appoint someone in the family as his guardian. In a will any of them can be written out. If the house and land are left to you alone, you are allowed 1 year to dispose of it. Here is one link which you may find useful. https://www.thailandlawonline.com/thai-family-and-marriage-law/legal-aspects-of-a-last-will-and-testament-in-thailand You can also do an internet search along the lines of "What happens if my wife dies before me". I hope that this is of some use to pointing in the right direction.
  5. It must be gratifying to be so perfect and never make a mistake. Unlike you the rest of us sometimes make mistakes, errors, double posts etc. It is quite normal and part of being human.
  6. If I read the article correctly, what Trump is saying to the oil companies is, you guys GIVE me 1$Bn and IF I become president then I will help you out. IF I don't become president, then you guys are $1Bn down the hole, and I am $1Bn better off. He will need a lot of good luck to sell that one to people who are far smarter than him.
  7. Would that be because he contaminates everything he touches?
  8. Back in 1990 I did a job in the Bluebell Woods in Kent and all around there were acres of bluebells. Nowadays there are few if any bluebells that survive the <deleted> fly tippers. I found a link to the Daily Mail but they want me to close my Ad blocker before I can read their post. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13361073/Clear-historic-woodland-beauty-30-trucks-dumped-illegal-waste-cost-10m.html The problem is not confined to Thailand.
  9. By Anutin and the BJT party, who introduced the flawed bill during the last government. It appears that Anutin is now backing the PM in relisting cannabis as a narcotic.
  10. If it is none of my business, how is it any of your business? BTW, you still didn't answer my question.
  11. So what? Why do you need to know? Please try to answer the question that was asked.
  12. There seem to be a few posters here pushing crypto for some reason or another. I can just see the blank look on the face of the noodle shop owner if my wife wanted to pay 30 thb in crypto for a bowl of noodles. What she does now is pay cash and the transaction is done in seconds.
  13. You forgot to mention that I don't want crypto either. Strange as it may seem to you, but it is my choice.
  14. Yet you seem to get your link from that neutral bastion of honesty and truth. The Times of Israel. And that is nothing like an unbiased source or the truth at all. At least I get some of my news from MSM which you and others like you believe is totally biased and you believe none of it. In feel pity for you, as you can only see a one sided blinkered view of a country that slaughters innocent men, women and children on a daily basis.
  15. Israel is such a great ally of the USA, that it takes but never gives. Under the current Israeli murderous government, PM and war cabinet, it does not take or heed the advice of its strongest ally, and it believes that it can eliminate Hamas (a one time ally) all on its own. My suggestion would be to stop ALL weapons deliveries and financial aid, and let Israel see how far it gets without the help and assistance of the USA. Obviously according to Netanyahu, Israel does not need help from the USA. From the BC news website this morning. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68980826 Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed Israel can "stand alone", after the US warned arms shipments could be stopped if he orders a full-scale invasion of Rafah in Gaza. Thousands of people have already fled the southern city after the Israeli military began what it called a "limited" operation on Monday. US President Joe Biden has repeatedly warned against the operation, saying that it would cross a "red line". But Mr Netanyahu dismissed the US warning, saying Israel would fight on. "If we need to ... we will stand alone. I have said that if necessary we will fight with our fingernails," the prime minister said. Also this https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4n14merj97o President Joe Biden upended part of one of the world’s most significant strategic relationships this week. It happened in a TV interview, when Mr Biden was asked what would happen if Israel went ahead with a planned invasion of Rafah. “I’m not supplying the weapons,” he replied. Arms shipments are the bedrock of the US-Israel alliance. For the first time in four decades, a crack appeared. Mr Biden has been under sustained pressure at home and abroad to help prevent further major civilian casualties and a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He finally crossed the threshold of withholding arms shipments to Israel, American’s closest strategic ally in the region - a move not seen since President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s.
  16. So people are not allowed to change their minds as they grow older, learn more and get more experience, according to you. What people said, did and thought 10 years ago, was what they said, did and thought 10 years ago, and has little relevance 10 years later.
  17. Why do you need to know? Have you asked the same question about the members of the Thai government teams, or the members of the ASEAN teams, who have achieved nothing over the years?
  18. My ignore list is 6 pages long, but that is going back to 2003. The majority of the ignored posters have come up in the last year or so, since the site was bought out by AN. Now it is owned by the Thaiger is has got a lot worse.
  19. I haver been paying my bills through online banking from my joint account with my Thai wife, at KBank for years. I also transfer money to my son who is in uni at Chiang Rai. I have not had a problem yet.
  20. I am not so sure that it is bad editing. My thoughts are that the articles are written with the help of AI, and simply posted without editing, in the hope that AI got it right in the first place. I have a feeling that AI is used here, as I had to carefully edit and retype my last sentence. In 30 words, I corrected 12 errors.
  21. If the former president (Trump), is lambasting the current President (Joe Biden), then the current legally elected President (Joe Biden) is doing the right and proper thing.
  22. My pensions are paid into my Wise bank account in the UK, transferred to my Bangkok Bank account, transferred to my KBank account where I pay most of my monthly bills online. The rest is drawn in cash for general living expenses. I have been doing that for years, and it works. Why would I NEED to have a crypto account?
