Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
I have been having problems since Friday. Today is is better. I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet, and I use 3BB as my internet provider. -
They can conduct as many polls as they like, but the only one that matters is the election day result. If Pita and the MFP are disbanded AFAIK there is nothing to stop the party returning under another name. If Pita is put in jail, another person can take his place and so on. If the party wins an overall majority, and IF the next senate does not have the power to select the next PM, then it will be up to the ministry of dirty tricks to stop them. IMHO the time for military coups and dirty tricks is coming to an end. The older ultra-royalists are dying off, as are the Yellow shirts. The youth vote is expanding. The military will probably not get as much support as before, which leaves He who must not be talked about, and he has control over a large part of the military, but not all of it. There is the old (Chinese?) proverb that runs "May you live in interesting times" that may be appropriate in the near future.

I do it simply because I will then know how much my pickup costs to run every year. I have made a simple excel spreadsheet that ells me how much per km it costs to run, how many km/l average between refuels, how many km/l per month, how much it costs per service and when, how much per annum in repairs. I have been keeping a vehicle logbook since I had a company car back in the 1980s. What you do or don't do is of no interest to me, nor what I do should be of any interest to you. I put those figures up as an example in a response to the OP

Panel to auction 15,000 tonnes of rice from Yingluck era
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Naturally you can prove that. You can prove that, can't you? -
My electricity bill went up by 127 units and 971 baht, MY daily consumption went by 4,1 units a day. Having said that, we had my mate from Germany and his wife for 2 weeks and 6 of the family up for Songkran when there were 11 of us. The water pump was working hard for showers, 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs a/c working about 12 hours a day each. I am quite happy that is all it cost extra.

IMO it takes a few months to fully train people and if they only do 2 years it is not really worth the time and trouble to train them unless they will be cannon fodder. However if they are trained to do civilian tasks, the whole country could benefit. One problem is they need to be paid a decent rate rather than less than the minimum wage. I don't think that many people in the UK would be happy about the idea though.

I think I can, if it is an emergency and I really have to.

What a stupid and pointless post. Please point out and quote from my post, where I said that I can't afford it.

Panel to auction 15,000 tonnes of rice from Yingluck era
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
A quote from the OP in case you missed it. “The rice is expected to be exported to Africa. We hope the auction will fetch a good price. Revenue from the sale will be returned to state coffers. I am glad the controversy over the rice has ended.” I underlined and bolded the relevant part. -
I am in a similar situation to you. The last time I stumbled and fell, I was in the village and my wife couldn't get me to a position that I could help her or me to get up. Luckily enough she called a friend to help and between the 3 of us and the car door I managed to get up. I am 80.

Paetongtarn Expresses Readiness Concerns for Prime Minister Role
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Perhaps instead of all this talk of impeaching Srettha, a better choice would be to impeach the entire current membership of the senate, and kick them all out onto the street. -
After I loaded that link and installed it, yesterday on AH it went much quicker. Today however it is slowing down again and I have had to reload several pages to see the contents.

I paid 32.45 a litre out here in rural Kamphaeng Phet a week ago and we usually pay 1 baht per litre more as we are about 350 km from Bangkok. I think that the extra baht is a sort of delivery charge. It was 30.45 at the start of the year. In January 2023 it was 35.45. In January 2022 it was 29.26. In January 2021 it was 25.60.

Saturday 25 May 2024 I have just loaded the link you haven given and I will see how the rest of the day goes.

This morning the site simply stopped working. My PC is OK, the link to the server is OK, but the site server was refusing to accept traffic once again. Ookla speed test to BKK, ping = 10ms, D/L = 369.3 Mbps, U/L = 314.3 Mbps 3BB speed test to BKK, ping = 10ms, D/L = 263.6 Mbps, U/L = 310,6 Mbps Since it came back it takes 2 or 3 minutes to load any page and changing a page or opening a different thread takes just as long. It is as bad now with the Thaiger as it was when it was sold by AN. It is only this site that gives me this problem.

The ICJ Ordered Israel to Halt its Rafah Military Offensive
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
Plus, their "holy book" and their version of *god" says that that are the chosen ones. Not to mention that their is a country on the other side of the Atlantic that has supported them since 1948 through thick and thin times. However IMO the thinnest of times are here now, and I am not so sure that the whole hearted support is there any more. -
I can agree with you in part but more people are using a/c and more people are using EV so the national power consumption is rising as both are used more and more. Unless more power is generated somewhere there will be a point when there wont be enough for everything. That is why the cart is in front of the horse. Power stations are not built overnight, Expanding the electrical network cannot be done overnight Expansion needs to come before consumption, and that IMO is the problem,
-
Thank you For that information.

If as you say one EV uses 4kw/h per day to charge, then 1,000 EV will use 4,000 kw/h of electricity across the country. According to this link https://washingtondc.thaiembassy.org/en/content/number-of-electric-vehicles-in-thailand-quadrupled there are over 70,000 EV on the road which will consume over 280,000 kw/h of electricity per day and every if every EV on the road consumes that much or that little, where does the extra power come from. quote from your post "it is not difficult for the grid to cope with that and the grid will probably be enhanced at a faster rate than uptake of EV's." Have you actually seen or heard of any expansion plans to enhance the MEA and PEA network? Locally I have seen the PEA out working on the power grid most days but I don't know if they are expanding the grid or just relocating some of it. I have not read anywhere that there are new power stations being built and a power station, no matter what fuel it uses takes a long time in years to build from the original decision to actually supplying power to the network. In the real world Norway seems to be in the lead simply because they use hydro power. IMO solar is OK for a small scale but fossil fuels need to be shipped to a site and the left over waste needs to be removed and disposed of. EVs themselves are not the problem, until it comes to disposing of them. The main problem is charging them, and the more EVs that come onto the roads currently will need more and more power to charge them. That is why Thailand is playing catch up.
-
But I DO understand the post I quoted. The big problem is that the PEA and the MEA network is not strong enough to support many thousands of EV being charged at home without a major upgrade and overhaul. From what I have read extra power stations will be needed. The 3 phase and single phase transformers are mostly old and have problems keeping up with current needs and many will need replacing with larger items to satisfy future demands, and all of this really is needed before a huge increase in EVs hits the roads.

Jeremy Corbyn to Challenge Labour as Independent in Islington North
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Good for Jeremy Corbyn. He has the right to stand for election. If he wins the seat, good for him, and if he loses then at the very least he tried. As for Keir Starmer, he is interchangeable with so many other UK politicians, -
You keep repeating the same old mantra. Why would you buy an EV and have to charge it 150km or less away, when you should be able to charge it close to or at your own home? You are wasting your time, your charge and your money, when all you need to do when you get home is plug your EV in and charge it up. Is charging it at a public charging station cheaper than charging at home? When you charge it at home you are free to do things that you want to do, and not hang about waiting for your EV to be charged up, that is assuming that there is an empty charging slot available, just like the one at your home.

I looked at something similar earlier this week in Kamphaeng Phet but the model had a roof to keep most of the sun and rain off. The big problem for me is that the seat the lady is sitting on can be turned around and folded flat to allow the main seat to be moved. Sadly that seat has 2 positions. Where it is now, you need long arms and legs to sit comfortably. In the forward position, it is too close for driving comfortably. There are NO intermediate seat adjustments.
-
If of course you live away from the main highway or not in a bigger city, as many people do, then the charging coverage is not so great nationally. It may take several years and require a huge investment to upgrade the PEA national network before it can be said to be truly nationwide.
