War a real threat and Europe not ready, warns Poland's Tusk
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Ukraine
Putin's official spokesman are you? Do you have a seat behind Putin at every meeting that he attends? Or is it simply your opinion and words with no facts to back it up? Why would he want something that is in another country that does not belong to Russia? -
Why do super markets insist on re stocking shelves during the day?
billd766 replied to Asquith Production's topic in Isaan
Thank you. I have found over the years that it is easier to be polite and pleasant to all people. The more you understand that they have a job to do and let them get on with it. the easier it is for them and the more helpful they will be with, and for you. If somebody and or their trolley is in the way, make a joke of it and they will move themselves and their trolley out of the way. If something you want is in an aisle where they are restocking, ask politely if you can get to it yourself. Most of the time, for me at least, either they will bring it to me, or let me in and move the stuff out of the way. And always smile and say thank you. It cost nothing and they realise that somebody does notice and appreciate the work that they do. Perhaps it is just me but probably it is the way that my parents brought me up. -

I am not able bodied either. I have con arthritis in my left kneecap and use a walking stick. I also have a Zimmer frame with a seat. I suppose I can manage to walk about 100 metres before I need to stop and hold on to, or sit on the trolley. If I need something that I can't get to, I simply ask one of the staff and they get it for me. I always say thank you, and I always get a genuine smile in return. If what I want is not on the shelf/out of stock/awaiting a shelf refill, I just move on to the next item. It is so easy for everybody that way. However I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet, and not a tourist area. At most of the shops in the village the staff help me up and down steps and ramps, they also open doors for me and take the stuff out to the truck for me, all without asking. -
This morning I was stuck on "Children of the Revolution". In the end I gave up and Googled it. T Rex and Marc Bolan from September 1972.

Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
No way, Jose. The tooth fairy just left me a pile of promissory notes, saying that the cash was too heavy, would I pay it, and the cheque was in the post. She lied. -

You seem to have spent the last few posts defending your whining, as if you are the only person in the world that matters. Grow up, work around it like normal people do... -

Will you still complain when there is nothing on the shelves, and the prices have to go up to cover the extra cost of an extra shift and the extra cost of keeping the store open to restock? -
Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
I have absolute proof about the Tooth fairy. She is biased against the elderly. She came to my son in the UK regularly when he was younger. She came to my son in Thailand regularly when he was younger. At 79 one of my (3) remaining teeth fell out last night. I looked everywhere this morning for the evidence of her visit. Nothing, not 25 satang or even a note saying, ...... you AND the donkey you rode in on. 😒 😭 -
If they are standing in my constituency I think I will be voting for the genuine Monster Raving Loony Party candidate. It might be hard to find the real one with all the other Loonies up for election, but from what I have seen lately in parliament the MRLP certainly would fit in well with the current mob running the country. Sadly David, Lord Sutch, 3rd Earl of Pinner died in 1999. IMHO he would have made a better PM, than the last few the UK has had.

I sent for a new UK passport, (the old one expires on 24 June 2024) via Paul Aslett at Thai Visa Express on Monday 11 March. I sent him all the documents by EMS and they were collected on Wednesday 13 March. My nice shiny dark blue British passport arrived by EMS on Saturday 30th March by EMS. A 19 day turn around. I am high impressed with their service, which on my part involved a 6km trip to the village post office instead of a 350 km each way trip to Bangkok and an overnight stay, twice. The total fee was 11,000 baht plus 42 baht for the EMS. The service was superb and simple enough for an old dodderer like me to understand. My old passport was valid until 24 June 2024 but the new one is valid from 20th March 2024, presumably to keep the EU happy. Now all I have to do is get the stamps changed to the new passport at Immigration, and I suppose at the banks where I have accounts, perhaps at the Amphur for my pink Thai ID card, DTA for my driving licence, and I can't think of anywhere else. I will get to Kamphaeng Phet Immigration next week before the Songkran holidays, the banks etc are not so important. Once again, my thanks to Paul Aslett for a brilliant service. See you again in 10 years.

How can I PERMANENTLY change the time period from posts since my last visit to Specific time period. It always used to be 365 days, but now, no matter what I do it reverts to posts since my last visit. I change it, follow the idiots guide (written by an idiot) and if I look at something else it sneaks back. It is SO annoying. Why do I HAVE to save it as a new stream, when the old stream was OK?

Do they come with a free red baseball cap with 4 capital letters in white embroidered on it? -
Sorry Mike but that was a different era and a different audience. No it wasn't a silly comment. It was and still is my opinion.

But I am glad to say, that is not the sort of music I like. I didn't like it when it first cam out and I still don't. However each to their own.

That looks good and I am not surprised that you didn't want to wait for it to cool.

I just watched most of that link and the guy in black, to me at least was murdering that poor piano. The little girl in black behind him was enjoying herself though. I found a different video by Brendan which I liked more here, In the school orchestra back in 1955 I was taught the violin for 3 weeks, but I was so bad I was demoted to the triangle and proved no better. I admire anybody who can properly play their instrument, but Les Dawson must have been a brilliant pianist to play the piano so well and then so badly.

Picture of Israeli soldier holding Thai flag causes a stir

But It can't be true. It was written in the Christian holy book, and they would never lie. Would they? -
Fortunately my son in the UK is 46 now, He is there and I am here. My Thai son is 19 and at uni in Chiang Rai, so I am spared that. My wife doesn't seem to play any music, so I am free to indulge in the music I like. I also like traditional jazz but not modern jazz.

World court orders Israel to take action to address Gaza famine
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
It could also be over tomorrow if Israel went back to its own borders, all the illegal settlements handed back to the Palestinians from whom they were stolen from in the first place. If the Israeli's stopped the mass slaughter and genocide, that would be a good thing also. -

And the source for this report is the totally unbiased 'The Times of Israel'.
