IMO, Educated Asian women with high flying careers these days are not looking to get married. Educated Thai women with high flying careers these days are not looking to get laid by old farang men on a visa. Educated Thai women with high flying careers prefer Thai males of the same or higher status than themselves, to divorced farangs with children on a pension. They also prefer being able to have a conversation in Thai, and they have no interest in playing connect 4. Their parents expect a big payoff when they get married and will not be amused if their daughter gets the clap off some farang, or some such thing that means no longer worth the million plus baht they were hoping for.

That was always enough for me. I had my share of western women to work with and I chose Thailand to live in. Do I need to explain why?

All the Thai girls I knew were much smarter than the farang men they made a living off. I don't know why some farang men come to a culturally different country and expect things to be the same as back home? Are some of us just too dumb to survive in Thailand?

I married one young enough to never look like a granny when I woke up and looked at her. I didn't marry her to discuss philosophy.

This forum has it's share of posters that married wealthy Chinese Thai women with degrees and get given mansions by the in laws, and it seems we now have posters that actually go out with "top professional Thai women". This forum should be renamed the AN comedy forum.

I never before considered that any living human being actually thought they were literally eating Christ's body or drinking his blood, or that water from Lourdes had magical properties. Apparently I was mistaken. I was very religious as a child, and was the youngest sacristan ever in my Anglican boarding school, but they lost me to the Church when they told me that I couldn't be a sacristan anymore because I was too young. Apparently some in the Christian church don't even know or understand the teachings of the Christ. Changed from belief to non belief just like that. Became agnostic till my Road to Damascus moment.

The embassy affirmation in the NZ embassy was only to legally confirm that I said there was no current legal reason not to get married. They didn't do any checks of any sort. If you lied that is not their problem.

The solution to most of our problems could be easily fixed by: a/ doing away with voting according to which party gives us more stuff. Replace the charlatans promising the world to get into the trough, and vote only for people selected on proven intelligence and common sense. Every wannabe politician has to have a track record of life before politics ( no political science graduate or lawyer allowed to be a politician ), and pass an extensive psychological test. No political parties- just good people making our lives better. b/ making any politician voting for war send his entire family to the front line. c/ Jail for life anyone claiming there are more than 2 genders, or saying it's OK to use " reassignment" ( a vile word in that context IMO ) drugs or do gender surgery on adolescents. d/ require anyone claiming that there is such a thing as "man made climate change" to provide a solution that is affordable, effective and acceptable.
