  1. It's exactly that sort of comment that makes me doubt they will be able to find an unbiased jury.
  2. On Al Jazeera it was mentioned that he might have been investigating the Wagner group, which, if true, in the present situation would have been a bit risky.
  3. It's the rampant desire to physically destroy Trump that causes some of us to support Trump against such undemocratic attitudes.
  4. Whatever my opinion on the election, that's in the past and is irrelevant now.
  5. LOL. If the anti Trumpers on here were to be on the jury, they'd vote to convict even if there was no poof at all IMO. Doesn't matter what the judge instructs jury on, in the jury room they are the deciders. If they weren't, don't need juries. I'm sure that if any Trump supporters were on the jury they'd be voting not guilty whatever the proof. Problem for the lawyers is that there is probably no American that has no opinion on Trump.
  6. Getting ahead of yourself there. He's not a criminal till convicted. Innocent till proven, or do you disagree with that?
  7. Now the "entertainment" begins. This will be keeping CCN in business for a while anyway. Assuming the case even gets to court, just trying to find an unbiased juror will be a major problem, and a biased jury is an appeal guarantee right there. However, win or lose this is IMO the Dems dream case as voters will probably be unlikely to vote for a man that is facing a court case, and it may not go to court for years, if the American "justice" system is anything to go by. Job done for the Dems.
  8. As have many, many men. Not being content with being burned once, I went and did it again, but I thought she was different being Thai. Was I stupid then, or what! Britman has got it right IMO.
  9. Which seems to be a common attribute of humans.
  10. Couple of things about that. Yes, the Thais have loads of different smiles, and one has to grow up in the culture to understand them, so farangs tend to misinterpret their smiles, eg a farang might think a girl smiling at him is because she likes him, when she is actually thinking that the farang is a revoltingly gross fat b'tard with bad breath and no hair. Thailand is NOT a poor country. It's very, very wealthy, but most of the wealth ( as always ) is concentrated in few hands.
  11. The obvious response to that is "do do-gooders actually do good?"
  12. I take it you are from a country that has many male nurses, but in my country when I started nursing male nurses were a rarity. I trained in the largest hospital in the country with about 800 nurses and there were only 6 male nurses. It's still not something boys grow up wanting to become. Such attitudes were not uncommon back then. It was quite unusual for me to work in the UK with loads of them, but still a significant minority.
  13. They'd probably sell granny before they'd sell their phones.
  14. Errrr. The point I was making is that the smile has vanished all over. Sure, people make polite smiles when greeted, but the genuine from the heart smile that they used to have, IMO has vanished from Thai society. A Thai girlfriend I had long ago had a smile that was like seeing the sun shine out of her face. I haven't seen a smile like that for a very long time.
  15. If most people were smart, we'd live in a better world than the <deleted> we find ourselves in today.
  16. I've said it before, but IMO it's a different culture that makes the difference, not the availability of weapons. A double barreled shotgun could be used in a mass shooting- it doesn't have to be a semi automatic weapon. It could even be a machete- they were used in Rawanda to commit mass murder.
  17. You could have just posted that and avoided the confusion. Yes, it's a bit off topic but isn't that what a forum like this is about? If we were restricted from any conversation that deviates from the OP most threads would last for about 10 replies.
  18. I don't recall saying Ukraine was escalating the war, but the west certainly is by giving ever more advanced weapons to Ukraine to use which in turn leads to Russia responding in kind. Putin, IMO, had a point when he commented that the west will fight to the last Ukrainian. If they were bigger and stronger and better armed than I, certainly I'd be scared to do anything to stop them. Wouldn't you be?
  19. LOL. Sadly the human world has never had peace, probably since cavemen discovered that a bone could kill someone else. So while I accept that wars are as much a part of our life as sleeping, I'd prefer it if, in the present day, politicians that vote for conflict had to serve in the front line.
  20. I've given an answer to that before, so I don't feel any need to repeat myself.
  21. I'm puzzled as to why that deserved a sad emoji. It's not like we were using live targets. Militaries, like wars are a fact of life and a military needs to practice to be able to kill the enemy. So what's the problem?
  22. Thanks for that update, and I stand corrected, but I still think that everything gets sucked into black holes and eventually create another big bang. I just can't accept that the universe expands forever with a load of dead matter in it. However, perhaps there are loads of dead universes in the infinite space. It's not like there isn't room in infinity for an infinite number of universes.
