  1. Can't open the link, but the only time I was really, absolutely happy was waking up next to my wife when times were good, then they weren't. Happiness, like every emotion is dependent on many, many things. Delete any one of those and happiness flies away.
  2. Western people use forks so they don't have to put their fingers in their mouth. Asians have chopsticks. Anyway, sensible people wash their hands before eating. Hepatitis is no fun.
  3. Third trip in 6 years! Give it up before you make a spectacle of yourself. 25 million is probably chicken feed to an actual hiso women. How many hiso Thai women do you know married to farangs? The obvious danger to you is that your 25 million will likely be reduced to 25 thousand in short order, by some gold digger. Sawatdee sucker.
  4. Wise words and oh so true. Never get involved in friends problems if you want to stay friends. Just be a shoulder to cry on when it all goes wrong.
  5. I once started a topic about Antarctica on a different forum ,but not many were interested. Feel free to start one on here and I'll contribute answers to all your questions. Were there any fights between scientists- none that were of any consequence, though one scientist did push another off his chair for talking during the movie. However there was one that almost had my fist in his face for being an <deleted>. Luckily for him I'm a peaceable person. More relevant; was there hatred between base members- absolutely- loathing doesn't even begin to describe it. I was there many years ago and there were no tourists, except for politicians wasting aircraft fuel for a jolly. Not having a favourable opinion of politicians even way back I avoided them as much as possible. However, some years after my time some tourists on a flight had an unfortunate encounter with a mountain and were no more. I doubt there was even a Chinese base on Antarctica then, and the only other base I visited was McMurdo, which was walking distance away. Those Americans really knew how to party, but the lurid details will not be revealed by myself. The sauna I used was at McMurdo, and a welcome respite from - 40 degrees C.
  6. Last I looked there were about 2 or 3 of us regular posters that support God's existence. The rest just kept bringing up things nothing to do with faith, so IMO this thread has died and gone to meet it's maker. One amazing ride though.
  7. Unless Messi created the universe, he ain't god.
  8. Nah, when it came to corruption, he was in a class of his own.
  9. Agree 100%. I'll be celebrating the day he has to face justice for what he did.
  10. The Chinese said they are weather balloons, ergo they are Chinese.
  11. Do tell. My understanding is that they have been ruled by despots for centuries, but still managed to survive as an empire till Gorbachev ended it. All countries have infighting and I see self destruction of the west going on all the time now. IMO just a matter of time before Rome ( the West ) collapses due to the rot at the core. All civilizations end, and usually not well. IMO a new Dark Age approaches.
  12. I don't get it, but interesting.
  13. I don't get you at all. If they did "wipe them out" do you think the rest of the world would ignore that? The Palestinians may wish to wipe out Israelis, but they don't have that capability, so not really an issue, is it?
  14. Make people hate you and how will that work out?
  15. Just to be pedantic. Britain far as I know owned Hong Kong, but they depended on the New Territories to survive and the 99 year lease was on them. Good point though.
  16. So what? Aerial spying has to be about a specific location, so explain how a balloon can be maneuvered to that point by using the wind alone?
  17. LOL. You really have Trump in your head, the amount of times you insert him into threads.
  18. 1/ do we believe they can't or couldn't detect balloons? 2/ if they couldn't, why not? 3/ if they couldn't, why so few balloons? 4/ undetectable balloons would be the perfect way to launch an attack on the US.
  19. Sooooo, the US military had an intrusion by a possibly radar jamming aircraft near the aircraft carriers and didn't declare a general alert! Sure, sure, I believe that, NOT.
  20. In that case, how could it maneuver over a specific location, and more to the point, does anyone believe it would not have been picked up as soon as it entered American airspace?
  21. Is it your contention then, that someone in Trump's organisation was required to monitor American airspace? IMO that is the responsibility of the relevant agency that deals with American airspace.
  22. Pity I hadn't read that before my post above. However, if it is manouverable, surely it is a blimp, not just a balloon? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blimp From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see Blimp (disambiguation). The Spirit of Goodyear, one of the iconic Goodyear Blimps A blimp, or non-rigid airship, is an airship (dirigible)[1] without an internal structural framework or a keel. Unlike semi-rigid and rigid airships (e.g. Zeppelins), blimps rely on the pressure of the lifting gas (usually helium, rather than hydrogen) inside the envelope and the strength of the envelope itself to maintain their shape
  23. Excellent point. Pity Trump had to chime in though ( if he actually did ). He needs to shut it and retire to his resort in Florida and play golf rest of his life.
  24. Let's be logical, please. Unless it's got a motor and propellers and a rudder, how could it be directed over any sensitive locations? A balloon by definition goes where the wind takes it. Simple explanation is that they were indeed weather balloons. Pity the Chinese didn't inform the US before sending them though, as what possible chance is there that they would not be spotted? Also, China is a space nation now, and all they have to do is put spy satellites into orbit to spy, just like the US probably does. IMO the US needs to capture it and see what it was carrying before claiming nefarious intent.
