Montana becomes first US state to pass ban on TikTok

Excellent news. Hopefully they can extend the ban to everywhere on the planet not controlled by China. -
Experience with leasehold?
thaibeachlovers replied to habuspasha's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
This isn't really the place for the OP's question IMO. Better to try on the proper sub forum. Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership Real estate, housing, buying a condominium in Thailand. Ask all your practical and legal questions here. -
Experience with leasehold?
thaibeachlovers replied to habuspasha's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
No problem. I've been reading this forum for many years, and also before it changed it's name, and I've read so many tales of woe from farangs that bought property, only to have it go horribly wrong that I can only assume that buying is not a good idea in Thailand for foreigners. Plenty of examples of guys that built/ bought houses only to have an all night karaoke or such like set up not far away and their once upon a time valuable asset became an unsalable problem. The problem is that in Thailand even if the law is on their side, it doesn't always work out for farangs. Also, hiring a Thai lawyer to rectify legal problems is not a popular idea among A N posters. Of course, if one is lucky enough to be able to walk away with no regrets if it does go wrong, no reason not to do it. Also, renting is so cheap that I don't know why anyone risks buying ( other than a condo with the correct proportion of Thai vs foreign owners ). I understand that it probably seems like a good idea at the time, but a lot of guys that got married thought it was a good idea at the time, only to regret when it all turned to tears ( including myself ). How many posters on this thread alone are saying to go for it? You don't have to take my word for it- just read some of the threads in the archive to see what can happen if bad luck. So, do you feel lucky? However, as the saying goes, "up to you". -

No plans would have allowed for me to live as I want to. The only plan I had was to live with my wife, pottering around, watching movies and doing a bit of gardening. That plan didn't work out very well. -
Where to get high performance Wok Burner and Wok
thaibeachlovers replied to moogradod's topic in Pattaya
Shouldn't that be your wife's ( assuming she is a Thai ) job to get what you want, or do you not trust her? If you absolutely can't get her to do it, find a local food cart or restaurant that has what you want and ask them ( or get her to ask them ) where they got it. -
Avoiding the obvious comment about the rights of the foetus, they have the "right" to an abortion- that hasn't been removed, so perhaps get that right. All that's changed is how long they have to make up their mind about having one. Did you miss my follow up post in your haste to attack me? In case you did I said "Perhaps rather than making it easy to kill a foetus the state should impose such draconian financial penalties on the fathers of children that don't live with them ( not referring to child payments after divorce, but casual sex with unwanted consequences ) that no man will ever have casual sex without ensuring no unwanted consequence happens"

18,000 cows killed in Texas dairy farm explosion
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I visited a dairy farm in Saudi that had all the cows ( a lot but not 18000 ) in big sheds with huge fans as they would have died in the heat outside. All the feed was grown with irrigation on the desert sand and transported to the sheds. In that case, the cows would not have appreciated the sun on their backs, but they were not restrained in the sheds, and could roam around. -
LOL. That post reminds me of when I was in Saudi, as they must of had a small army of censors using a black felt tip pen to cover up any bare arms or hair in pictures of women in foreign magazines before they went on sale. I laughed like a drain when I bought a tape of a western singer that included a song about Crusaders winning a battle. They missed that one!

Many of us are already being cancelled for wrong opinions. At least they are unlikely to rewrite the Sanders of the River books, though the mob would likely burn them if they got the chance. I'm sure it's about making money from vandalising old book because it's cheaper than writing new ones people will buy.

Who's getting upset? I laughed like a drain once I got it. -

Has to be one of the few threads I've read that most of the posters agree the idea is not great. Perhaps the message is finally getting through that owning property in LOS is not necessarily a good idea. I made almost every mistake possible to make in my time in LOS, but not that one. -

Congratulations on injecting some sense into the thread. Will the OP get the message or continue on IMO his path of destruction? Of course, he may be rich enough to just walk away in the event it all goes wrong, in which case carry on. -

5555555555555555 Sooooo, without the benefit of marriage legality, you will pay large to build a house on land you do not own. Do I really need to point out the perils involved in that? I can imagine that the GF is all for that arrangement! BTW, renting would be of more benefit once you work out that Phuket isn't a place you want to live in. -

LOL. I also thought that old age would be a pleasant existence, but old age has some unpleasant side effects that can kick such illusions into touch. Elon Musk has enough money to afford the best that medicine can provide, unlike us normal folk. I think he might be doing better health wise that you or I, when it comes to it, and for sure he can afford all the pleasures he wants. -

I was watching "the bottom line" today on Al Jazeera and the guest let it slip that he apparently wants to see a new religion come into existence! IMO he wants to co opt religion to make us subservient to his vision of a new world order. IMO there is no depth too low that some <deleted> will not stoop in their quest to control us.
