  1. "sources say" "Though the committee declined to identify the people" LOL, LOL, LOL. Sooooo, unidentified people claim something and certain people fall over themselves to believe this is factual. Hardly going to be submitted in a real law court, unlike the IMO biased cabal that is the committee. LOL, LOL, LOL. Perhaps leaked by the committee itself, or by the same people that made the anonymous claims.
  2. I do not know of a single instance of corruption from the thousands of nurses and hospital staff I worked with. I don't speak for nurse/ hospital managers or doctors though.
  3. One always ate better food if one bought every meal from the station convenience store before boarding. I did like the big cups of OJ bought on the train though
  4. LOL. I always enjoyed the dining experience on the night train. Certainly beat the rubbish on UK Virgin trains ( prepackaged, overpriced sandwiches eaten at seat ). However, I wasn't fussy about hygiene, decor or even the food. I actually enjoyed almost all of my Thai train trips.
  5. I lived in a non tourist area of Lamphun and the karaoke bars that went on till late late were not for farang tourists. My wife took me to a Thai night club and I had to go outside because the band was so loud it made my head hurt. Those bands near you that you complain about are probably not for farangs or western tourists.
  6. LOL. KSR was always a <deleted><deleted> even back in the 90s before they tried to make it up market and ruined it.
  7. Are you saying Thailand was damaged when the bars stayed open all night? I don't recall that. I do recall that Thailand was a lot of fun back then, and wasn't much fun at all before covid when bars closed early.
  8. Yes, but the topic is passengers, which don't need a license. I never checked, but assume same as for the driver- helmet, legal m'bike, driver has license, not drunk, limit on m'bike cc.
  9. Before purachai made farang entertainment places close early, there were no drinking places on Sukhumvit pavement, and no gogo girl hung around waiting to see if they could get a customer after hours. Like you want, it all went on inside the bars and not outside on the streets.
  10. I remember the Marine well. I think it closed early- about 2 or 3 am, so headed over to another place that went on long after I'd had enough at dawn. BTW unless you call 2 or 3 hundred "small", Marine catered for a big number.
  11. The superhighways are OK, sure, but get off them and try to drive around - university area is insane. I hated driving a car in C M and refused in the end unless just going on superhighway to the north.
  12. I lived there in 2018, and traffic insane, but it always was around the moat, even in 1974. C M problems are IMO because there is no planning by council, and council doesn't keep place clean, or carry out maintenance. They didn't even do anything for New Year like Pattaya did. Worst nightlife of a tourist place in LOS. Public transport is a bad joke with rip off red songtheaws. I stayed there because didn't want night life and it was cheaper than Pattaya.
  13. I'm pretty sure your idea of a night club does not include a stage with 20 naked women on it. I had no problem doing an all nighter in Nana.
  14. Do any posters on here visit LOS with small children? LOL. I have zero interest in what people with children want, and I did care about adult entertainment when I spent large to visit Thailand. If I wanted the most boring night life on the planet I could have stayed home. Anyone wants to go to bed early with a book were never impeded from doing so.
  15. Rubbish. Back when 2 am closing was "uncommon" some places stayed open full of happy customers till nearer dawn. In Nana there were 2 gogos that closed after dawn. In Pattaya I'm pretty sure some bars never closed. Certainly there was always some place open.
  16. So he decides to make it about antisemitism. He must be a real ball of fun at parties. Surely he could have made that speech any time?
  17. Did you even read my reply before posting? I said "but I assume your "lap issue" is an off topic reference to Hunter Biden." I bolded the relevant part so you can't miss it.
  18. I doubt Republicans will change the law to make it easier for people to immigrate, which IMO is what Democrats want.
  19. I can better that. I discovered a knife switch in the family house carport that was wired directly to the live cables outside the house ie no safety breaker at all, and missing the cover, which meant anyone touching any metal part would fry. Cunningly, a load of stuff was put over it so one didn't know it was there till tidying up the carport. My SafeT Cut wouldn't have saved me from that one. I covered it up with a plastic box, and actually used it to run an arc welder that kept tripping the circuit breaker.
  20. Taped joints would have been an improvement on the bare wires up in the roof of the family house.
  21. Boggle away then.
  22. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/todays-immigration-debate-rooted-reagan-amnesty-experts-say But whatever specific policies are being fought over now, immigration experts say the problem took root at least 30 years ago, when President Ronald Reagan signed a 1986 immigration law that has become known as the “Reagan Amnesty” and allowed roughly 3 million people in the country illegally to gain legal status. The 1986 law was intended to create a new era of enforcement, including strict enforcement of the new law that barred employers from hiring workers who don’t have permission to work in the United States. But that never fully materialized.
  23. Do tell. When Biden stops the wall being worked on leaving lots of gaps it sure seems like he and the Democrats want an open border. Sealing the border is a solution, even if not your preferred option.
  24. Perhaps the UK should become more like France then?
