  1. The point is surely that it's up to us if we stick around or not?
  2. I pray every time I think about it that I never see my 80th birthday. Might be different if I had a family that loved me, but I don't. To be honest, the idea of being reduced to living in an understaffed so called "rest home" fills me with horror. I actually know people that work in such places to know what goes on. Being stuck in front of day time tv or eating the muck my father had to eat is not my idea of a decent life.
  3. While your work may require you to be present in a different country, IMO NONE of the current "conferences" need to be attended in person. With modern communications they can be done remotely. However, some of us know why they fly hundreds of participants to exotic locations like Sharm el Sheikh, and it's not for the talking, 555555555.
  4. It's no longer possible to get through life with only cash. Last time I tried to rent a car unable to use cash. For everyday things though, I prefer cash. Last time I went to supermarket held up for 5 minutes by woman messing about with her phone.
  5. Bit of a ramble, but valid point about the push factor. In my case, the push was about half the reason for wanting to live in LOS, compared to just visiting ( which was all pull ).
  6. I agree, but that's not what the thread is about.
  7. George Clooney has done "good"?????????????? Not to my knowledge. Do tell. Sting and Bono may have done so, but as I automatically ignore anything to do with either of them ( dislike their music ), I will not claim any knowledge about them.
  8. LOL. The extreme woke movement is far larger, IMO, than the numbers moving towards fascism, which are not mainstream, despite the left's desire to paint all that are not on their side as fascists. For proof I note that I have to be extremely careful what I say now, as any that hear me could be woke and take offense. This is certainly a huge turnaround from when I was a young man. IMO the wokists dominate society now and right wing opinion is muted. NB. I do not live in America.
  9. Excellent diagram. Even the anti cash mob should be able to understand a picture.
  10. No one is saying that there isn't a place for cards, just that there should ALSO be cash.
  11. It's benefiting the banks. IMO they have run a brilliant campaign to make people think it's to their benefit. Go cashless don't need bank buildings any more, don't need employees in those buildings, make mega profit. Soooo, what happens when it goes wrong and can't pay for something? Wait 2 hours on hold for a phone call, or contact by e mail, and wait 5 days for a reply? It's such a brilliant idea to make the rich richer, but what could POSSIBLY go wrong with it? 55555555555
  12. You seem confused. We pay to have an official witness that we personally sign a document. The official IS the witness. Other witnesses may be required for a different document that is not the topic, and in that case must be provided by the person applying for the document.
  13. Takes a lot to get nurses to strike. They have been underpaid for decades because female dominated workforce and wouldn't strike.
  14. You don't tell me what to do. On ignore.
  15. Numbers are irrelevant if they can't move along with all their heavy equipment. Take out the transport and they are of no use.
  16. I've never been to the Philippines. I thought they had to vacate Clark same time as the navy went.
  17. That may be true, but if they don't give Thais a good deal don't expect Thailand to be generous.
  18. They tend to reciprocate what other countries give. NZ used to get 90 days visa exempt, but that was when they got that in NZ. When NZ stopped theirs, Thailand stopped NZ 90 days.
  19. Surely they will require an airbase for protection needs as well? As Ukraine has proven, anti air missiles are not sufficient.
  20. That was a fact, so I don't understand what was funny about that.
  21. Yes, and apparently at a lot less than worth.
  22. It should be on the legal divorce agreement, which is not the certificate.
  23. When you get a certified copy of passport could ask your question at same time. I used a lawyer to get my certified copy.
  24. ????????? You should have your own divorce paper- one for her, one for you. Provided by the office. She's pulling one on you about that. Document about the agreement re property in and out of Thailand. No idea what you mean about agreement now and visit office in a year? You can go to a lawyer to make a legal contract re property. The amphur only does the divorce.
  25. You need to contact them to see if appointment needed, but if they don't and are busy you might not get seen. Best to get an appointment anyway. You absolutely need everything agreed to included in the divorce agreement. The divorce document is standard, but I understand you can add your bit to it. It's in Thai so if you want to know what you are agreeing to need it translated ( unless read Thai ). I doubt the witness has to be official, I didn't have one at all- the clerks did that for me, but ask the office.
