IMO, he 'deserved it' at least as much as Seh Daeng, but maybe Karma has a less immediate but more painfull end 'programmed' for this one.

As for his reincarnation, the list of ideas is still open for horrible ideas... Mine was a mighty poisonous tarantula, ...just stung by a wasp, its magot very slowly feeding on the spider from inside it.

Whilst we are on the subject of "ear medicine" ; it must be some mighty powerful stuff you're on, judging by the imagery which it is conjuring up...

I'm on my 3rd METV now and carry 40k baht in my wallet minimum at all times.

Whether it makes a difference or not I'm not sure but I also pay and use the VIP fast track service at BKK. Having a  VIP Thai escort with me at immigration in my opinion has made my entries very smooth .

The IO I have dealt with the last few times has been really friendly and even struck a light conversation with me.

    Just my opinion and experience.

If you are in the habit (or able!) to carry B40k in your wallet at all times I am sure that you are regarded by just about everybody - immigration officers included - as outstandingly handsome!

    ????

But, to go back to the original post, one grade explains it all: " I have been living in Thailand on Tourist Visas..." Perhaps you are in the same position - it will only take one IO to decide that consecutive METVs constitutes living here and the same could happen to you. Having an escort or being in the VIP channel will not help!

  4.

Try to get a Tourist Visa in Savannaketh and then imagine how an "Online Tourist Visa" should work. ????

I should imagine that it almost certainly won't work if you are applying for consecutive tourist visas. Just like the bloke at the Savannaketh Consulate, the computer will take the not unreasonable view that, when one applies for say one's third consecutive tourist visa, one is not a tourist but a resident.

Many of us here have children in this education system ,and some of  us actually CARE , and try and keep a healthy balance between thainess and brainwashing ,all the while pounding some western values and English into their little minds...but if your needs in Thailand center around cold beer and hot women then your ok...have a good one sir ....and your friend nailed it..

I have a child in the Thai education system, and I work in it. I care, very much, and worry not only about my beloved daughter (I can and do  do something about that,) but also try with the children I teach. I am am sure many of us do

I quite like a cold beer - prefer cider but it is hard to come by.

As for hot women; knew one once, soft and lumpy as I recall!

Aren't these fat, bloated, I'm-all-right-Jack oppressors of the people (see the photo) just as ugly to look at as their inner being is bereft of all morality and compassion? Their Inner dimension is truly reflected in their smug facial exterior.

Inner self is often recognised and remarked upon by the more perceptive.

That is why, despite a physical resemblance to the back end of a particularly dilapidated London Bus, I am occasionally hailed by young ladies as I pass bars as " handsome"!

You're right though, he is a smug so and so.

If the whole of Isaan and the north follow their normal voting patterns, none of this will matter.

If that happens (it probably will) then any number of other ballgames come into play, from the Senate ensuring that there is an appointed "outside" prime minister, dissolution/banning/prosecution of enough MPs to remove any overall majority, and as the last resort some major event or national emergency which demands the junta remain in power to manage it. So yes, you're right, it really doesn't matter

Every Thai I know will still vote Thaksin.

And the General clearly thinks the same, otherwise, he'd be having an 'unweighted' election.

Really. And all the ones I know, including the ones who voted PTP in the last election, will not vote for any Thaksin owned party again. That is those that live outside of the corralled villages where the local headman tells them who they must vote for.

I would suggest that both of these posts are effectively claiming "unknowns". I very much doubt whether any one on this forum has a sufficiently wide spread of good aquaintances, bearing in mind the geographic, social and ethnic polarization of the Thai political scene, to arrive at either conclusion.

What's more the long lasting ban on almost every form of political activity, imposed and maintained by the current regime means that there is no canvasing, political positions or proposed policies to be discussed, or to produce reactions amongst the electorate which can be evaluated to provide information on likely voting intentions. Opinion polls are meaningless. The result is, until (if) an election is held, we just don't know.

The current regime presumably have the best idea of how probable voting intentions stand, and will call an election when they think they can somehow manipulate the results to allow them to claim victory - as junta's have always done worldwide!

As a personal aside, should the electorate deliver a convincing rebuttal to the regime (as I suspect they may), I expect that it will be so shrouded in smoke and mirrors that we will never really know the result!

  11. So: a fix will be put in to ensure that a party will somehow, in some obscure coalition, and no doubt with the support of the appointed senate, end up forming a government, no doubt with a "popular vote" dramatically less than any sort of majority. Once they begin to select their "Prime Minister" guess who will emerge from the shadows?

Well, golly, I mean, whoever would have imagined ...
