If this military monitoring and combating crimes committed by foreigners is as effective as the campaigns against deck chairs, street traders, drink driving and so many other military driven initiatives of the junta...

But the educated middle class of those places don't have to put up with hundreds of thousands of foreign ill mannered yobs and sex tourists ruining their countries' reputation.
But then they haven't created the environment which attracts hundreds of thousands of foreign ill mannered yobs and sex tourists, specifically because of the cash they bring with them.
Thailand very specifically has.

Why so coy about naming the "major aircraft manufacturer"?
It's got to be either Airbus or Boeing.
Are either of them really interested, considering the regional alternatives?
PS: Royal Thai Navy as the specially licenced investment partner? I thought their gig was ships, let's face it, aviation hasn't exactly been their strong point!

Yes, and isn't it ironic, perhaps the ultimate irony, that if the last election had been allowed to run it's course, rather than having been forestalled by a coup which installed a junta, the elected government would now - four years later - be preparing to answer to the electorate!
Instead we have had an utterly unaccountable junta, which shows every indication of staying in power for the foreseeable future as well.
How does the mantra go: "reforms before elections"?

The Constitution is meaningless. The last two coups (at least) have been used by the military and their sponsors/masters as an opportunity to write a new one which fixes things to allow them to retain control. They failed in 2006, it remains to be seen if this latest one works. If it doesn't achieve that, they will simply engineer an excuse, overthrow the government, and dig the constitution drafting team out of cryogenic storage and start again.Thailand had few good men as PM, honest men, non manipulative, non ex army, people who really has the good of the nation at heart but they didn't last long, they were too nice, too timid, TOO HONEST for the greedy croock to make money of so they didn't last, so in that respect, don't complain, if an ex army general get himself crowned as an emergency PM and than get stuck there and doesn't want to leave because of a law he invented to cement himself into his position, clearly there's something wrong with the constitution of the country...

A lucky find or " targeted"?
I'm sure I am not alone in wondering what happens to this sort of "confiscated" money or seized assets?
I'm sure that here must be a simple publicly available audit trail that explains it...

You wouldn't need the staggering number of Generals either, - one for each Division, and a slack handful for various staff jobs and arms directorates - say 45 or so.

If you rely on your soldiers fighting because they fear their NCOs and Officers, you will be in for a bit of a shock if you come up against a real enemy, 'cos that is usually more scary...

Based on your experience? Well, not all children treat their parents the way you seem to have treated yours..Just don't have children, last time I checked, the human species was thriving. Just don't. The planet will thank you too. On the other hand if you want to sign up to 3 years without sleep, then a few good years, followed by many more of surly money grubbing ingratitude from your offspring, then decades of the occasional visit or emails, fine - go ahead............................

No, if a lot of dogs and cats have died then a large burial pit is the obvious way to dispose of the remains, although not as haphazardly as these photographs suggest.
The issue is that those in charge appear to deny that a lot of animals have died, whilst all the evidence suggests that they are being kept in appalling conditions and the numbers simply do not add up. As with so many other activities here, it rather appears that the available funds have been diverted...

Just one tiny, tiny problem with your observation: Iran had deals with both Boeing and Airbus.
Boeing may lose $20 billion in aircraft deals as Trump to pull US out of Iran nuclear pact

So I see from your link - thank you.
I should imagine that if Boeing are taking a hit, they will lobby hard and the administration will do their damnedest to make sure Airbus take one as well.
I also read that Airbus aircraft have parts made in the USA, which will of course be subject to sanctions. I wonder if those parts could be sourced elsewhere?

yep. but many people go on such things. Doesn't necessarily mean he took them to his places
Well of course he may have taken them to the viewing platform at Wat Pha Tha Doi Wait, (the scorpion temple) and pointing at the general direction of Burma remarked " they've got women over there you know!" Given the nature of his "adverts" on Facebook and Craigslist I should imagine the service he provided was somewhat more comprehensive...
That's probably why both the Thai and US authorities were so keen to "sting him".

Whilst it is improbable - no unimaginable - that Assad would take any such advice from Israel, I would suggest that he has no real say in the matter. The Iranians have established a significant military presence in Syria, with the aim of conducting operations against Israel. They won't take a blind bit of notice of anything Assad may say or think.
Israel is going to have to fight for its survival again, soon.

Iran have chosen Airbus over Boeing as the plane maker to supply their new fleet of aircraft?
Of course the Trump administration will apply sanctions to Airbus...

Understood, but why have they settled it?
I don't know. They should not.
I suppose they see it as providing an element of permanancy to the occupation. They shouldn't have. Militarily having to guard and secure the settlements must be a nightmare. But we cannot escape the fact that if they pull out of The West Bank and The Golan, the attacks will start again. Gaza showed that.

38 minutes ago, IAMHERE said:It is their land now. Israel fights war the old fashion way, take what you win. None of this war for bragging rights like America. All the war in the last century and the victors hardly have any land to show for it.
The pre 1967 borders of Israel were/are to all intents and purposes indefensible. Now of course that possibly would not matter, if the four bordering countries, Egypt, Jordan (enthusiastically backed up by/prodded by Iraq), Syria and Lebanon had not threatened, harboured terrorist groups or indeed constantly attacked Israel. But they did all this, constantly, for the first 20 years of Israel's existence. 1967 allowed Israel to seize land to make itself defensible. That's why they took that land, that's why they hang onto it.

Israel without provocation attacked and killed 8 Iranians on Tuesday. You expect Iran to do nothing...snip.
9 hours ago, dexterm said:As is the racist state of Israel. Making war is only MO they know. Isn't it time they tried making peace with their neighbors by giving back land they have stolen... the Golan Heights.
I have no doubt that Israel with their sophisticated weaponry will ultimately prevail in the latest war they are intent on starting, but Netanyahu and draft dodging Trump will have much Israeli and possibly US blood on their hands when the missiles start flying. Many civilians on both sides will be killed.
Readers note who started this.
What were the Iranian Armed Forces doing along the border with Israel then - a spot of "adventure training" - rock climbing and abseiling?
There is a reason why the Israeli government hangs on to the Golan. From day one of the existence of the state of Israel the Syrians and assorted mates used the Golan heights to shell, mortar and launch rockets at Israeli settlements in the lands below. They also sniped at farmer's working land near the pre 1967 borders, and used the Golan as the jumping off point for many raids and incursions on Israeli settlements, many of which resulted in the heroic and noble murder of women and children. That all stopped when the Israelis defeated the Syrians and drove them off the height in 1967.They hung onto them in bitter fighting in the Yom Kippur war - another attempt to annihilate Israel. They aren't going to give them back, so that the Iranians and their proxies can start shelling, mortaring, sniping and raiding again. It's not racist, it's survival.
