Exactly right, manufacturing is the issue with fibreglass shells. As explained in the other thread on this subject, I will only deal with 2 Aussie own manufacturers that both have over 40 years experience. Just about all the rest are cowboys.

There are pro's & con with both. At some stage you will have to do some maintenance. If you look after the pool properly at around 10 years (Maybe less) you will be up for some major work. However we have renovated concrete pools 5 years old. One pool we re-grouted after 1 year. Fibreglass shell may need a new gelcoating at around 10 years depending on the fading. If it is quality built. I am a reseller for 2 Australian owned fibreglass shell manufacturers, both with 40+ years exp. These in my opinion are the only ones to deal with. The rest are cowboys. Thai's & unexperienced westerners are flopping pools on the side of the road these days and skimping on quality chemicals & gelcoat. You will save some cash on a fibreglass shell and they are much quicker to have installed. Send me a message if ou would like to talk more about options.

That comes down to personnal choice. Overflow to some look better. You can now get top up vavles for skimmer systems. This was the main advantage of overflow systems. They had the float valve in the balance tank that topped up the pool water.

We just finished renovating this pool and finish is Cool Blue PebbleCrete. 10 x 4 x 1.5 constant, skimmer system.

Depending a few factors, work on getting change out of 20 k per sq/m.

We where buying direct of Taylor. Obviously they did by the book.

When I was water quality consultant at Ramayana Water Park, I advised purchasing to order a Taylor kit from US. At that time it had to come by ship as they where classed as "Hazardous". 3 months to arrive.

Salt chlorination is the best option. You have to ask for the pool not to be salt in Australia. Takes the guess work out of proper sanitation. The electrolosis splits clorine gas of the salt and it runs through the water to create liquid chlorine (Sodium hypochlorite) The (<removed>) salt levels need to be kept at 4,000 ppm (Sea water is around 55,000 ppm) Plus the salt softens the water giving a better bather experience. Emaux is the VW of the pump world and quality depends on which factory it came out of. Pretty much all pumps these days are of Chinese origin, whole or in part and are just branded. Once a pump is old it's best to get a new one rather than try to repair it unless you are low on loot. A quality 1 hp would do the job you require with around approx 350 - 400 litre a minite flow rate depending on "head" distance from pump room. I supply. PM me for info.

No we couldn't get it in Thailand.

It comes down to the level of the ground water. If you had it built, then do you remember if there was any water after the dig? If you are going to fill it, why worry?

My missus was threatened as well. They also said why don't you buy in Thailand. 1/ Can't get it. 2/ When we did find some it was rediculously priced.

2 times I have had some Fenbendazole taken by customs declaring it forbiden. 1 order from China and then 1 order fron India. Indian supplier is raising the issue with there end as they have sent before and directly to customers. Total lost about 8,000. The 1st order they wanted 20,000 plus bond storage fee for 4,000 Baht worth. Plus endless hours dealing with the Tw@ts.
