Maybe not from you. But Thais do not take kindly to being shouted at (and nor do I) so you might get a thumping. How long have you been here? You do know to just walk away from any confrontation, don't you? You said it yourself - you're in a country populated by a large number of idiots, or as you put it of low mentality. Live with it. I learned long ago to count to 10, sometimes 100, and then drop it.

UK and foreign TV series ( with English subs )
Bangkok Barry replied to Speedo1968's topic in IT and Computers
Agree with the above. I find australiapopulation dot com to be the most reliable source for subtitles. If you re-name the episode and the subtitle to the same name (ie S01, S02 etc) then the subtitle should play automatically. -
UK and foreign TV series ( with English subs )
Bangkok Barry replied to Speedo1968's topic in IT and Computers
A tip to the OP - I receive a weekly email from radiotimes.com which has news about current or upcoming series - for example, the new series of Dalgliesh. Hardly a week goes by when I don't discover a new series to watch. Another tip - Google a series and look at the IMDb link, usually the first one listed, and scroll down past the cast and it suggests similar series to the one you've looked up. WARNING: Can be addictive as it will lead you to one series and then another, and before you know it you have no life and are condemned to a future on the couch. -

Install qBittorrent and search sites such as Torrent Galaxy.to or 1337x.to for any series you are interested it. Needs almost no learning curve, unlike Kodi mentioned above, as it sets itself up. Just use the defaults and set where, what folder, you want the downloads to go. -

An interesting site, but it looks as if the vast majority are US series, not from the UK. -

Using torrent downloaders you can download countless UK tv series that are not available for purchase (so in my mind there is no law broken as the producers lose nothing). I'm currently watching Masterchef UK, although I chose not to have subs on that particular series. -
More reports of mysterious deaths from possible cyanide poisoning
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Once she is found to be guilty, which seems inevitable, maybe she can be given a cyanide cocktail to enjoy. Better though to subject her to life in a Thai jail, a fate worse than death. -
Which one is better? lazada or shopee?
Bangkok Barry replied to topswijaya's topic in General Topics
You have to be very careful ordering such goods as instructions are often unclear. I once bought a toaster and it was only to use on USA voltage, for example. Of course I can get an adapter, but that isn't the point. Have to be careful about choosing the right colour or size of something too. The fact they sent you one of each is odd, though. -
Tangmo case: mother demands 179 million in compensation
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So the deceased was going to give 179,000,000 baht to her mother? Why else would the mother demand 'compensation'? Pathetic woman.- 37 replies

That's a very Thai attitude. Don't know him, nothing to do with me so I don't care. I'm not saying that's wrong. We westerners do get upset and/or discuss things we have no influence over, constantly. Are we right or wrong to do that? Is there any point to that? I guess it depends on culture and tradition.

And 'Police said' is attributed to what high-ranking officer? None. Which was the point of my post, which you appear to have ignored or not understood. No member of the force has made any such official statement to the media. The only attributed quote says the enquiry is still on-going. Why do I have to repeat myself?

How Biden hopes to overcome his age problem
Bangkok Barry replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Can any American explain why there is no-one in America of working age who is suitable to stand for President. There was one, but he was also the only man in America barred from standing in 2016 and so America and the world got Trump instead of Obama for a third term. -
Copper Cable Theft Leaves Nonthaburi Residents in Darkness
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I see from the photo of the massed gathering of pointing experts, five out of six people are still suffering from the mask-wearing epidemic that exists almost nowhere else in the world. One for TAT to publish perhaps, to inform visitors that the virus is still rampant in the country and masks are necessary. -
Neither actually quoted anyone as far as I know, so put it down to the usual standard of Thai journalism. Even if there were officers who gave such statements, it's very well known that people here like to shoot their mouth off over something they know nothing about, so the only real source should be from one senior officer making a statement. Again, as far as I know, that hasn't happened yet while enquiries are on-going. The only brief from the police to the media that is mentioned in the linked article is saying that is what is happening. Everything else is hearsay.

Unusual ventilation break-in shocks Thai homeowners
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
A friend had his house broken into and his SUV taken too as they found the keys. The police demanded 100,000 to investigate, even though the security guard of the gated community happened just by chance to have vanished on the same day of the robbery. He ended up going back to Australia and his Thai wife was only too happy to go with him to escape the s***hole. With the police force it has Thailand is and will continue to be a third world country, no matter how many tall shiny buildings they put up in Bangkok. -
Unusual ventilation break-in shocks Thai homeowners
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Which is exactly what the final paragraph of the post says. And I agree. Hardly a random break-in with all that planning and work involved. -
Thailand Tourism Fee to be postponed until September
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The official government poster shown above says that an exception is made for Foreign residents in Thailand. I think I'm correct is saying that is not correct. Only those foreigners in Thailand who hold a residence permit are excluded. Very different thing. -
Thailand Tourism Fee to be postponed until September
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What you write has nothing at all to do with the tourist tax, and how the government is struggling to implement it due to some needing to pay it and others who do not. -
Problem with issuing of Marriage Visa
Bangkok Barry replied to Southy65's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The date given in your passport isn't necessarily the date your extension will be ready. What they should have told you is to await a phone call from them. Should have, apparently didn't. I had the same situation and now know better than to believe the date they gave me.
