as for me: I don't notice bikes at all driving behind me - that's just normal and o.k. Once I want to cross the street or else I check my behinds...so this guy seems be telling stories

we call it "Pity Ya" thinking about all the poor geezers who lost everything (incl. their brains) there...

The teacher is not fit to be in charge of students, they need to be fired immediately.
this teacher was in charge of pupils, not STUDENTS (a STUDENT 18ys.+ would have beaten the hell out of her...)

I've seen a few in Bangkok. The last guy I saw clearly had mental health issues. He was berating a tree outside of the Philippine Embassy. He was in a desperate state, but I'm not sure he realised it himself.
maybe his alter ego realised but was too scared to tell him

I miss the newspaper's / the driver's standard excuse "The driver was not at all familiar with the road and difficult weather conditions"

Nobody is talking about an insurance scam, how & why he could have left so much cash in a hotel room etc
what do you mean "so much" - they are talking about a trifle 60k THB. "Much" is anything north of a million

Hope the owners are prepared for the big financial hit they are going to take. Korat already has Tesco, Big C and the Mall etc
add Klang Old, Klang New...and the next flagship is in the make already (Paragon type). All these activities in view of Khorat to be the new railway hub between China, Laos and BKK as well as home to an ever-growing clientel (production, trade, admistrative, governmential) moving from submersing BKK to Khorat

I think the full blame will be put on the trailer truck driver for having parked the weird thing in the only lane (hard shoulder, extreme left) that can be used at all times for passing others at ultra- high speed

<When using my credit card in Thailand I am always asked whether I want to pay in US dollars or baht. Any advantages or disadvantages one way or the other?>
1. request payment THB only (explained already in this thread)
2. you are the Lucky One in a million "...I am always asked..." coz for me I am NEVER asked! and even though I tell the lass I want to be charged in THB only she still hammers out the foreign currency. Which is of course to her disadvantage because she has to rewind the hole thing, re- credit my card, debit me again. Always sheer delight for the other customers queuing behind - but stupidity has its price.

Just out of curiosity how easy is it to transfer large amounts of money (by bank transfer) out of Thailand?
would you pls re-address this question to local politicians, law men, the (financial) trades & industry circles?

If a 'tourist' arrives from Europe and enters Thailand at Swampy stays a few days then visits Cambodia, returns to Thailand on their Multi E visa, leaves again for a few days in Myanmar and again returns to Thailand for a few days, throw in Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia is that one tourist or 6?
that would make 60...!

" Officials later found the visa was issued at the Thai Embassy in Cameroon "
How can a fake visa be issued from the embassy?
if e.g. an embassy wrily circumvenes limited quantities of visa per African country per month or similar things. That, however, would not be a "fake" but a document not in line with the Thai Immi rules

no personal data are safe in Thailand, be it on the internet /Thai web sites, any of your personal documents which were either copied or merely "shown to authorities" who then extracted the data. You even have to state your religion (you may lie, though...) when applying for the pink Farang ID

1k baht for sale is cheap indeed; a real christian, however, would pay for this purchase to the parents of that sweetheart and not to Wannida (just plying the trade...)
