I am glad he did the right thing, I have no doubt that if re elected for a second term barring catastrophic age induced illnesses,he would have done a great job. But the operative phrase here is "If Re elected" and events of late , including the disastrous debate would had made it very difficult. Those who say that his mental acuity made him unfit to be president either have something to gain by saying so, or have no idea what the president's job is. Any mental decline he might experienced as a result of age. would had been more than compensated by age experience and wisdom. I am glad you are so trusting of technology, but i subscribe to the maxim " Trust but verify" Omron is IMO better than other but it does not stop from being a machine and as such susceptible to calibration issues that might give a lower or higher reading , either can be a problem . A lower reading would give you false security, and a higher reading induce medication intervention, both situation IMO not optimal.

Omron are the best. I was in the States, Christmas time, and got a very good deal on the Bluetooth one on Amazon. I love it, it automatically downloads every reading I take on the Omron app , so I have a record for every day and an average, my cardiologist here in Thailand was impressed by the detailed record.

Simple, if they are both the same then , unless in the very unlikely event of coincidence, your machine is Ok, If they are different , one or the other is not working properly, and I am willing to be it is yours since the ones in the hospital are better monitored than yours. . It is not the machines in your doctors office that can't be trusted it is the readings that can't be trusted because of "white coat syndrome" ( Have been running to get there, not allowed to sit for 5-10 minutes, reason you are there is you are not filling well, etc) But as long as the same conditions apply for both machines the readings even if not correct , should be similar, .

Just because other people using the machine get different reading is no indication that the calibration might not be off. It could be showing a lower reading for both you and them. Best bet as I said in another reply is to have it checked against another machine. Easy enough to do and would give you peace of mind. I am sure your local clinic will do it for you free.

a few years ago I came here on an one way ticket no problem. We were trapped in the US during covid, by the time we made it back once the 7 day quarantine was allowed (remember those days?) I had to start my extensions to say from the beginning. My Non O and extension to stay is based on Marriage, but i think the same would apply for retirement. So I got a Non O based on marriage visa before we left the US, at the Thai embassy (was done on line, easy and fast ) And both me and my wife only got one way tickets, obviously we did not need a return ticket since we were not returning any time soon. The airline asked why we did not have a return ticket, we pointed out that our visa was a long stay visa based on marriage and we will not be coming back any time soon, and that was the end of the story. Came here, got my extension, and did not go back to the US for two years. Hope this helps

Simple fix. Next time you go to the doctor, take your machine with you and have it checked against theirs. Or check it against a friends or perhaps at the pharmacy or at a community clinic.

My nice is on a far east business trip from the US to inspect some of the factories her company does business with. She will first go to Vietnam for a few days, then come to Thailand for a few days , upon completion of her business in bangkok where she will stay at a hotel, she will have three free days after her inspection to come and visit us in Khon Kaen where she will stay with us for these three days and then depart for Hong Kong . She arrives in Khon Kaen Friday evening, and departs Sunday evening to return to BKK and catch a flight to Hong Kong. Do I need to report her stay with us with immigration and how can I do that is she will be here while they are closed for the weekend.

Not at all, I said it in another post that Biden if he had to, would withdraw after the republican convention. The reasons I gave were were that he was waiting to see how this thing played out in terms of polling and support for him, but as important, petnaps even more so, to have the republicans waste their convention ammunition on him . Him withdrawing right after the republican convention will cheat trump from his post convention bump.

You are of course right. Currently I am on 5mg of amlodipine in the morning and 5 mg of Lisinopril at night that is working well for me averaging 127/63 (67 years old) but during my research I developed concerns about Lisinoprils' contribution to cognitive decline upon the elderly. In a conversation I had with my sister in the US about that ,she mentioned that while vacationing in Greece she came across the combination of amlodipine 5mg valsartan 160 mg hypothiazide 25mg in a one pill form , that worked great for her , in fact she said that she often skipped a day of the med to keep her BP from going too low. She said it was very inexpensive, and she was trying to have some more shipped to her. Hence my interest in it. A one pill would be convenient but as you said three pills would not be the end of the world. Amlodipine and hypothiazide are easy to find and very inexpensive here in Thailand ( free or me in the US with my medicare advantage ppo) but I am not sure about valsartan 160. Af course I will not be self medicating and will discuss the concern over lisinopril , and change med option with my cardiologist here in Thailand next time I see him. Thank you again for your help.

(under any brand name) It was recommended to me by a friend of mine from Europe, as having been very affective in controlling her BP but I was unable to get any information concerning it's availability when I Googled it. And my next appointment with my cardiologist is now for a few months. Of course I would not make any changes to my medication regiment without consulting with my doctor, but I would like to know if it is available before I make an earlier appointment to see him and inquire about it.
