  1. Guess who won't get voted for next time around!
  2. No, you alluded to laws not being applicable on a private island, which isn’t true.
  3. The private Island is part of the US Virgin Islands territory and therefore part of their jurisdiction. Just because one owns an island doesn't make that island a sovereign nation.
  4. If it had been consensual fhen why did he settle with her?
  5. Yes, it is. Even if an underage person consents, it's still legally considered to the statutory rape.
  6. You're right. I always only heard about the island stuff. Still, the issue is about lack of consent.
  7. Not necessarily. That place is huge and if their job was to guard the perimeter they might not have even been in the house.
  8. Yeah, well, the allegations didn't take place in the UK, though, now did they? Although the age of consent on his island is also 16, but according to the victim, she didn't consent and therefore the age of consent is irrelevant.
  9. "Hey sweetie, wine bottles just got 300 Baht cheaper in Thailand. Let's spend 2000 bucks on two return tickets so we can enjoy the discount!"
  10. I've never seen more children than I did in Thailand. Unless there's been a dramatic change since 2014, I find this somehow hard to believe.
  11. No, I'm pretty sure it was her boy toy.
  12. How delusional can one be?!
  13. Many moons ago I took a songthaew in Pattaya to the beach. Somewhere along the way a white women who seemed to be in her early 70s got off and then walked off hand in hand with a Thai guy who was maybe 20, 25. To each their own I guess.
  14. It doesn't take that long. I cut myself the first few times due to applying too much pressure and now I cut myself every once in a while.
  15. Why don't you get a straight razor? Better and cleaner shave. I use the Tondeo Sifter Classic. It uses exchangeable razorblades so you won't have to get the blade sharpened, although that would be the best. But it's an act. Also, any straight razor has a learning curve and you will cut yourself from time to time. Par for the course. It gets a lot better fairly quickly, though. The key is to apply very little pressure! The shave is second to none in my opinion. The regular old school shaver that Iron Tongue has posted a picture of definitely doesn't swivel. My grandfather used to have one of those.
  16. Not necessarily. There might be a large air bubble trapped in the boat. 5 days is pushing it, though, and I wouldn't get my hopes up either. That's why I always stay up top when I use a ferry. And it's always a good idea to get a swimming vest beforehand.
  17. It's easy enough, though, to get rid of the woodworms. You can either buy a specific pesticide and inject it into the holes or you could use silicon spray. That will kill them, too, or you can take it to a place that takes care of moldy car interiors. They use a gas, I forget which one, to fumigate the car, which will kill them. And I'm sure there's the one or the other household item that could be used to fill an airtight bag that will get rid of them.
  18. That's like saying why do the Italians put cheese on their pizza. Sushi is what it is and has been for centuries, apart from what was added by the Americans, like the California roll, and they eat it the way they want. If you don't like sushi then don't eat it. If you put small amounts of Wasabi on your sushi then it won't overpower anything, but complement the taste. Also, sushi is usually prepared by people who learned the trait and that takes years. Prices of fish has gone up, too. A big tuna for example sells for way over a million bucks and everyone wants to earn a crust.
  19. I used KPS Shipping International for shipping my belongings when I moved back to Germany. They came and picked up everything and then made two shipping boxes. The volume was 3.6 cubic meters and I paid 500 Euros for the shipping to Germany. The company is based in Bangkok, though, and I moved in 2014. Make sure to get the wood fumigated before shipping and get a receipt for it so you can prove it, otherwise you might have trouble getting it imported due to potential pests in wood.
  20. Note to myself, only take morning or early afternoon ferries. It's much easier to be found when the sun is still up!
  21. Well, for the last 70 years there hasn't been any meaningful period of peace and obviously the terrorist attacks haven't stopped either.
  22. You clearly know nothing about the breed then! When dog fights were still legal they used to let them fight in pits, hence the name pit bull. In with them in the pit used to be at least one referee who had to touch and sometimes lift one of the dogs to see which one had the upper hand. Any dog that attacked a referee received an immediate lifetime ban. Since they weren't allowed to fight and therefore couldn't make the owner money anymore, those dogs were usually shot and most definitely not used to breed. And that's precisely why these breeds, if you buy them from a responsible breeder, are usually extremely good with people and kids. Take the Staffordshire Terrier for example. That breed has consistently been amongst the most favorite family pet dog breeds in the UK for literally decades because this breed was usually kept by working class families, who needed a dog that would eradicate rats and watch the kids. If one of these breeds attacks people then it is ALWAYS the fault of the keeper because they didn't socialize and raise the dog properly!
  23. They’d eventually have no other choice.
