  1. My aahh moment has more to do with using it unconsciously, I guess. My sister-in-law banged on our door at some ridiculous hour like 6 am and of course, I woke up (hubby snoring away in bed) I groggily stumbled to the door, opened it and said "What" very grumpily in southern Thai without even thinking of saying it in English. :D

    When I finally worked out what this meant;

    แกไม่่คิดว่าฉันจะจับมันได้ไม่ใช่หรือB)

I don't know if I've had one of those, but sometimes, out of frustration, my wife will spout out something in Isan Thai and it will occur to me that I actually got what she said.

My Thai before knowing her was all from BKK or the south so I am kind of weak on Isan.

  2. I am looking also. I have had no answers to this question. I did find www.alanthebuilder.com in Surin. He will build in Nong Bua but he says it will make the cost go up.

You can e mail him from the website. Have heard good things. It will be a while before I am ready to build. If you use him, I'd like to hear about it.

  3. I would say it is hard to find a Thai woman that can be considered athletic, but I haven't noticed the clumsy aspect.

The world is full of klutzes, I am sure Thailand has an equal share.

I don't know about athletic, but as young girls from the farms, the certainly do a lot of tree climbing, hill climbing, jumping into anything that has more than 12" of water and I've seen them wield a machete very handily. So well I'd want to stay away.

They seem to have all their limbs an fingers and grown up with out too many major injuries.

Maybe the ladies from the cities are what you speak of.

I believe that in Thailand that there are less women who are into fitness and sports then you would find in the west. I am talking about women with real muscle tone, nice abs and a generally more ripped physique. You are free to disagree it is just my observation.

Thailand is full of thin people of course, no one can deny that the west in comparison is much fatter. But these thin Thai girls, what is their fitness level? Can they run a mile? How about when they get past the age of 25?

I would say that western countries have a greater proportion of females who are serious about some type of athletics. One example might be to consider female celebrities. The west has a great deal of highly toned starlets, are there any in the Thai celebrity circles?

When I was in university in the west, quite a few of my female friends had athletic physiques. In Thailand the university girls are thin but they don't look strong.

I have spent time in quite a few villages too, the hard workers are there, but this is not quite the same thing as being athletic.

    The title is about clumsy.

  4. What have YOU contributed for the good of Thailand?:jap:

Yah mean other than being a walking, talking, posting advertisement for Thailand?

Other than that I chose to help support a Thai family with some financial aid so the 3 children might get a better education.

Me also. Except 2 children. But I,m working really hard for the 3rd one.

  6. Not sure it qualifies as "big" but I have a VFR400NC30 . . . nice little pocket rocket for nipping about on, not so great going to 7/11 tho lol

    Tats

I think anything from 400cc up is called big i LOS, you can go on your bike to different bike meetings and so on. But this is off course subject to personal preferences, Thai made bikes was app. 125-150cc before, so........

    Photos??

I would concur. 400cc+ in Thailand is considered "big". In the USA, that's considered small cc. Even the 600cc's are still considered "middleweights".

Any Japanese 400-600 cc bike will leave an 883, 1450, or 1550 Harley in the dust. this is the fallacy of ranking bikes by how big the engine is.

  7. If the poles and LV conductors are on your private property you will own them from the point of supply, that is the point where the supply conductors connect to your conductors (this is generally at the point of metering in Thailand). Metering is the responsibility of the PEA

The poles and conductors on public property are owned by maintained by the PEA/MEA.

They may well ask you to contribute some of the capital cost to extend their network. Contributing to the capital cost does not mean that it will become your property.

You should check with the PEA first for their requirements.

Obviously what is on my property is mine.

In a previous post I was told to get a quote from PEA to run the lines to my property and give them my requirements. My question was if I have this done, is it probable that they will run the minimum required and allow every Joe farmer along the way to tap in dropping the voltage to my house?

I guess I should have been clearer.

  8. Ok, now how does one go about getting their name in the Yellow book with only an arrival stamp?

off topic, but most tessabaan reqires one year visa/permit to stay to register farang in yellow book. perhaps OP had this at time of application, and this time is here only on arrival visa excempt stamp?

It may seem off topic, but the OPs title is registering a new bike which is exactly what I want to do.

  9. Ok say I pay PEA or a private contractor to run wiring to my house past 30 shacks.

Does the line then become public domain so that every Joe farmer can tap in and drop the final voltage down?
