Sorry, I quoted your post but I didn't mean to infer that you, personally, are careless about parents/kids on motorcycles.

Very early on in my driving experiences here in Thailand my wife (Thai) would constantly warn me about moms/dads/families/kids in the lanes ahead - they are unpredictable, so one needs to allow extra room when they are emerging from the left, or overtaking or turning left/right ahead of them.

Fishing, bicycle riding, bird spotting, drone flying (imo - with cameras is best), teach him to swim (or at least be able to float). Air rifle shooting or archery (at targets) is really popular with boys (IME).

Sounds like this is (at least partially) a failure of the police and local authorities to fix a well-known accident black spot. (Not excusing the pickup driver, but there is insufficient information here to apportion blame)

If @Cornish Pasty is indeed another incarnation of Bob, Colin, Elvis, etc. (and I think it is very likely) we need to recognise that aseannow relies on clicks for its very existence (unless you all want to pay fees) and Bob, Colin, Elvis, etc. do generate lots of clicks. Personally, I find that aseannow (aka thaivisa) has been, and still is, such a valuable source of information and entertainment for the past 20 years or so. I can put up with a few "Bobs" and even have a laugh at their nonsense.

Good point. According to Google Thai kids get the tetanus jab routinely, at about 12 years old. Also, according to google, the jab lasts 10 years before needing a booster.
